  1. I once made a mistake regarding a similar situation. The turn signal lights on the front are recessed in the bumper, not up by the headlights. Just checking.
  2. A 92 doesn't have a carb. The iac has a hose connected that you pull off, pour the cleaner in, nothing to disassemble.
  3. I've owned Subarus since my first 1986. Every newer version slips more toward trendy / style / etc. And away from solid reliable affordable. Sounds like the EJ22 was an accident.
  4. Torque for the axle nut is something between 100 to 150 ft lbs. Don't recall the exact number.
  5. +1 F3F0. Best to use a flare nut wrench on them also.
  6. I would use inverted flare fittings, just like the others on the car
  7. Mine have started normally below zero F. So unless you are talking way below that, I doubt it's just due to excess cold. The CTS could screw up cold idle. Or hot idle. Or anything in between. The idle air control valve could screw up normal idle, not sure about cold, just because I never had one fail and tried to start cold. The one I had fail, failed while driving home, so was fixed before I had a chance to find out how it would effect cold starting. Most electric & electronic circuits can be effected by temperature, so it is possible for anything involved with engine control is partly failed. The squeal noise, could be a bad idler bearing, or a V belt slipping. Check and tighten the v belts, if it still squeals, start checking the idler / s. There is one on some versions with A/C, and 3 in the timing belt system. Alternator bearings could theoretically fail that way also, but less likely. If it is the V belts, you may need new ones, as once they slip some, they get prone to slip more.
  8. The injector can make audible clicking. I don't often hear it, as I am in the car.
  9. Nothing controlling the pump is up by the throttle body.
  10. For some variations of gl / loyale there were different splines, so it's good to check. The inside end only lines up for the pin in one position. The pin should not require heavy hammering to go in. Do not use a punch that is too small to drive the pin out. I use a steel gutter nail with the point cut off flat.
  11. I've never got an EA82 get past 6500 or 7000, not that I went around trying to.
  12. Rev limiters are a race car thing. Not in these old street cars.
  13. I'm thinking about whether I want to deal with the awkward position of the cap.
  14. I do have a couple of dual row radiators saved for rebuilding. I was thinking of getting a single to use while I search out someone or the parts to do the rebuild.
  15. The last time I needed a radiator, it was near impossible to find a turbo 2 row. It's looking like I need to settle for a single row, as I don't have time for a project right now. I am not looking for a cheap one, I'm looking for a good one. I've always bough brass and copper ones, but it looks like the aluminum ones last a lot longer these days. Anyone have the name of a good source / part number?
  16. Replaced a fender on my 87 wagon. Repaired the other with POR15, since it wasn't totally gone. Repainted the replaced fender and the touch up areas with custom made paint from a local car parts shop that does the paint number mixing in the store. And the clear coat. Also touched up and clear coated my custom paint job on the hood, since the paint was beginning to show signs of aging. Have one other small rust spot in a seam I'm sealing up with POR15 from the outside, and Waxoyle from the inside.
  17. If it has original struts, they are due to replace anyway. IF your torque steering matches the descriptions in that other thread, it sounds like most were fixed by replacing the lower ball joints. Pretty much any part of the suspension can cause odd problems with steering since its all interconnected.
  18. There may be an idler on the v belts. The Idler in the timing belts is the one with teeth. the other 2 are the tensioners. All 3 die at about the same time, about the life of the belts, which in my experience is about 50K miles.
  19. And don't buy El cheapo belts and idlers. I've had good luck with the best quality NAPA water pumps.
  20. And is the belt tension correct? If it is the belt slipping, and it's bad enough, you may need to replace it. Slipping does not make the belt less prone to slip.
  21. Some of the long warranty stuff also counts on the typical buyer, who won't keep the vehicle long enough to make a claim. 9 + years for a flooded cell battery is unheard of. Normal for a high pressure spiral wrapped battery though.
  22. Timing belts. Radiator and every part of the cooling system. Change all the fluids unless you know any are new. NGK spark plugs. Is it leaking oil everywhere? What kind of transmission?
