EA82 Oil in Air Box/Intake Mystery
Not directly - cylinder to cylinder... I guess depending on what the valve positions are in the adjacent one, compression would get pushed out intake or exhaust. Not sure how that would pick up oil. Leakdown should be interesting.

EA82 Oil in Air Box/Intake Mystery
Some things to think about & consider: Exhaust manifold being loose has nothing to do with compression test results. Compression that low should show up as poor running, I would think. Blown head gasket would almost certainly be blowing exhaust gasses into the cooling system. Except, if the 2 cylinders have a leak between them, which would also explain them both having the same low reading. Lots of blow by can push oil up everywhere. How many miles on the engine? Might be worth checking the timing belts / marks for proper orientation.

EA82 ECU experimenting
Here is a list of ECU part numbers and cars they came from / are in. Looking for patterns, and more data from any other out there, if you can read yours and add them, that would be good. GL / Loyale SPFI ECU numbers / versions. Ea82 overheated / head gasket question
You are looking for Fel Pro number HS 9392 PT-2 and CS 9390 for the conversion kit. Amazon and a lot of other places sell them online.

Proper lubricant on brakes?
DaveT replied to ThosL's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX+1 what ocei77 wrote. Spray does nothing to remove the gunk that is still in there. Wd40 is great at dissolving some types of dried up grease, but it evaporates, leaving the dried up grease...

EA82 SPFI Crank Sensor Trouble Codes 11 & 13
Ok, didn't know.that. I've had the solenoid fail open, and never noticed any effect while driving. Pretty much any normal conditions of hills, speed etc.

EA82 SPFI Crank Sensor Trouble Codes 11 & 13
The egr code almost always is caused by the coil of the egr solenoid being open. The only thing it effects is failing emmisions. The others, I have never had. The crank angle sensor is in the distributor.

EA82T rebuild or easy swap?; looking for advice
I'm going to guess, it would fail emissions. Different ECU, and fuel map for turbo vs non turbo.

just picked up 91 loyale with broken timing belt
You can try replacing just the intake gaskets. The best are oem by far.

Check engine light on but engine is running sweet
Running for a long time with a failed o2 sensor can burn out that catalytic. Need the CEL code/s to be sure where to go next. I had a 0420 code caused by a very small exhaust leak.

Best Gasket set of not OEM
DaveT replied to Firemanjim's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXNo problem, just letting you know

Did you see this?
Wait.... that thing could have dual power 4wd... Be a project to sync 2 engines...

DaveT replied to Firemanjim's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXFel Pro head gaskets, head set, and conversion kit. Except use oem intake manifold gaskets. And yes, more answers in old gen sub forum.

93 Loyale Starting Issue
Auto vs manual transmission? No difference in engine. Sounds like a fuel delivery problem. Could be the 2 fuel lines are swapped, since they would have to have been removed for swapping.

Ea82 spfi air idle control valve issues.....maybe.....
Plug it. It will run fine. You might not pass emmisions, but it won't hurt anything.

L-series/Leone speedometer not working
The cable has a flex shaft in the center. This shaft turns continuously at a speed proportional to the wheels. Inside the speedometer, there is a viscous coupling that in turn moves the needle. The needle returns to zero due to a spring. The needle pivots on very fine bearings, like a mechanical watch or a regular analog voltmeter. They can get contaminated and sticky. I doubt lubing the cable will change the sticky gauge problem you are describing. If the cable is making clicky noises that vary with ground speed, that can be helped by lubing the cable.
