new brat owner from tn

You don't even need a cat on the Brat. Many people cut them off not long after they were new. Oh, and start a new thread over in old gen for technical stuff. More people browse there and can give you a broader chance for more options when it comes to answers. -
Jessekrs123's 1984 Subaru BRAT

Been about 4 years since I heard an EA81 go through the gears. Makes me miss my Brat and hatch even more. -

I have always done the whole axle since it probably has slung all the grease out and the bearings have crap in them now. 36mm socket will be needed. -

I thought 84 was the only year it got gl trim with auto and no t-tops. Do you have a gold sticker on the valve covers? -

Congrats on the snag. It also looks to be a DL Brat since you do not have T-tops. I am a little over an hour from you in Crossville. -
As some of you may know, the 05 STi gets the monster hood scoop. Well, the problem that I have is if I do not slam the hood from about a 45 degree angle, it will eventually pop open on the highway. Not to say that it comes all the way open, it is being caught by the latch. I had originally sprayed the latch mechanism with brake cleaner thinking the latch was gummed up but it happened last night on the freeway again. Anyone have any thoughts?

The kit that I bought from Annapolis Subaru contained all replacement clamps and screws. Even contained the shield piece that goes around the filler neck entrance. Gary, you're 100% correct about it looking to take 10 minutes. It took me an hour and a half. Of course it was due to low light and me being the only one working on it.

It was a PITA when I did it on my 95 back in the summer. It's pretty straightforward replacement. Remove the rear wheel. Disconnect all the hoses. There is a single clamp to where it meets the fuel tank. This was the tightest fit and caused me the most aggravation. I think it would have been better if I had a second set of hands helping me.
