  1. I didnt know it was a wiper. I just assumed that it was a very small active aero wing. Like what they put on the VR-4's. I also like the radio system. The duct tape is a true testament to Arkansas ingenuity.
  2. I bet that motor can scream too. Drop that in a brat and put it up against an STi and you got a race.
  3. From the looks of it, there isn't even a back glass. Sure it would be great if you lived in a climate that only gets 4 inches of rainfall each year. We all should email the seller and as if he is retarded.
  4. If I can get up off my butt in the morning I will go out and start inspecting all my grounding points on the brat. I might even run to wal-mart and pick up a bigger ground for the ole' bag. Ill definetely check my fusible links, I had enough trouble out of them on my hatchback from where I got excited the day I bought it and put the replacement battery in backwards!
  5. Whats the first thing that pops in you guy's mind at the thought of voltage getting lower at higher RPM's?
  6. I remember reading that the other day. Apparently he relisted it again. Did Jerry ever get that brat he was wanting?
  7. Both alternator and battery are doing their job. Had that checked out a minute ago. Sitting in traffic my voltage gauge is around 12, driving down the road it drops dramatically to around 9 or 8. Sounds like ignition coil or distributor to me.
  8. Get a bunch of 81/82 drivers for a big birthday party kind of thing. Except with a keg.
  9. The thing that still gets me is that when driving home at night, my left turn signal has a bit of a fluctuation to it, like theres a hint of light in it. The old man and me are going to try and hunt down some electrical junk here in the next few days. May start by adding some grounds and check the disty. Gas gauge still reads wrong, and wipers are at a crawl. Hope these are all connected. Next question, can anyway tell me what exactly is the "kick down relay" I dont have a fuse in mine but I did on the hatchback. Whats up with that?
  10. I agree, its probably the most annoying thing in the world. Hearing someone elses system from a half mile away while your trying to take a nap. It was cool in 2000. The "cool" factor has diminished and there really isnt a need for it, besides of course annoying everyone on your block.
  11. By doing this, you must post us a picture on here of you roasting them back tires.
  12. By doing that, all I would have to do is slide the end right on the output part of the alternator? Do I still need to leave the other wire on there? So in the end I will have two wires coming off the alternator output part.
  13. Cougar thanks for confirming my suspisions, we check the current at the battery and it was good. I hope me fixing this tomorrow can clear alot of that stuff up.
  14. I am going to redo the connection on the battery part of the alternator, its about to fall off as it is. I believe this could be the cause of this. I am going to redo it tomorrow because I simply don't have the pliers needed to crimp it.
  15. Yet again, provide quick and effective advice. I will get up early in the morning and check my grounds. The dude at the alternator shop said that if I had any trouble run it by. I will run the brat by there tomorrow and have him check everything out. Would the bad ground also cause my fuel gauge not to work?
  16. Well put the newly rebuilt alternator on the brat today. Drove it up the road and my voltage is still reading at 9 or 10 and my windshield wipers are barely moving. Every now and then my gauge lights will go out and my tachometer ceases to work. This includes all electrical lights. Does anyone know what could be causing this? Bad ground on the alternator is what I am thinking. The previous owner thought it was bad distributor bushings. What do you all think?
  17. I take it since you wanted to sell it before since it was auto, Your going to keep it now since your doing the manual swap?
  18. FIXED!!!! A spring had came off and when I gave it gas going over the speed bump. It managed to go back too far and jam the secondary jet open. My father and I fixed it tonight and got it running again, we stopped by the AutoZone and got a new replacement spring for it and attaced it to close to the transmission. I had been away for a few days and the hypothesis you fine people gave me was equivelent to what the problem was.
  19. I just bought the brat today. I went over a speed bump pulling into a friend's apartment complex and it started revving uncontrolably. The brat came with the weber carb. Me and my dad tinkered with it tonight while its still at his house. He thinks some trash might have fallen down into the float or butterfly valve causing it to get stuck. The throttle/pedal setup is good and intact. Next chance we get, we are going to take the thing off and spray the snot out of it with carb cleaner in hopes that it gets fixed. I took a look down into it and it looked as if one butterfly valve was open and the other one was closed. I would start the brat and he would hold his hand over the carb in attempts that the vacum would pull the garbage through the carb and free up the obstructed area. We even tapped on the side of the carb thinking the needle valve might have something stuck in it but didn't have much luck in that aspect either. I am completely open to any hypothesis about this whole situation. Dearon and GD you have both helped me greatly before. Have any of you ever experienced the same thing?
  20. Its revving uncontrollably like the pedal is to the floor i dont know what to do.
