  1. Thats is a pretty cheesey way to get somebody to bring their subaru back to the dealership just to get some moron to climb under your dash for 30 seconds. Teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime....
  2. That right there proves that I learn something COMPLETELY new everytime I look on this forum. I just thought a moonroof was just seals around the glass, who-da-thunk-it?
  3. Ok, follow up. Went and checked all the fuses, nothing, pulled the cap of the distributor and cleaned all the connectors off, nothing. What could it be, something I did notice is that the coil that autozone sold me was a bit smaller than the OEM one i had on the car, could this be affecting anything? Also when i had the switch in the run position I could hear a repetitive clicking underneath the hood, what was that cause it has quit clicking and I believe that is the cause of my misfortune.
  4. I havent checked the voltage on the coil yet due to lack of time, been driving my toyota instead (missing ole' red). Im thinking that it might have jumped time so instead of going through all that garbage,also it has a burnt valve on the number one cylinder. I found a severly rusted 83 Brat with dual range 4x4 for $250 so I am going to buy that for the motor due to it only having 50,000 miles. I wont need the tranny or the body of the brat so....Anyone want to buy a rusted through brat with a dual range tranny? Anyone know what I could out of one off ebay?

Well before this happened I use to hear a ticking sound and that has since quit, I checked the rotary button under the dizzy cap and it moved so I know the timing chain isnt broke because it let out a good backfire before it was down for the count, so what was the ticking sound, im hoping its the dizzy.
  6. My EA81 hatch died on me in the parking lot at school the other night. Thing was acting like it wasnt getting fuel but i had a friend give it gas and I looked into the carburator and it was getting fuel, so we got the idea that it was the ignition coil, so i changed it out just now and nothing happened, engine still turns over and doesnt fire up. Pulled one of the spark plug wires to see if it would shock me to see if it had fire and nothing happened. Just so everyone knows it was like 20 degress F, -6 C. So...what could it be? I read the thread that just went through and I don't think me and him are having the same problem so, I dont know.
  7. I really appreciate everyone helping me to solve this problem. My conclusion: just leave it on and quit worrying about it. Now I got to focus on replacing the ignition coil that burned out on me in the college parking lot tonight, $ 40 dollars to get towed home pissed me off.
  8. Thats the way it is on my Tacoma on how it engages when the defroster is on. All that I know is that when I drag the switch over to A/C nothing happens so my idea is that it is probably like you said, locked up. The only thing that I do use in it is the defroster which has saved my butt already this winter.
  9. My 1984 hatch has an air conditioning unit that doesnt work what so ever. If you take it off and get a smaller timing belt would this help the engine run a little better and maybe get some more MPG? I recently looked at a brat that didn't have a unit and it got me to wondering. Im sure someone has thought of this.
  10. I still get crap from the links in mine. I wasn't paying attention one day and put the battery in backwards and burnt the middle link in two, that forced me to custom fabricate one right there in the middle of the field.
  11. My 84 Hatch would do this in the mornings on my way to the ole' community college, like it would bog down as soon as I pulled out of the driveway. I remember this is only problem I have had with carbuerted (spelling) vehicles. My solution: before leaving your residence or place of employment, go out and start the car up and let it run for a good 15 minutes so it was ample time to warm up. Still might want to check the cat, or just cut it off.

  13. Pretty Interesting. About the only one that I do remember is the Brat from Napoleon Dynamite that Diedrich Bater (Rex Quon Do) drove.
  14. The problem that I had with mine was that alot of garbage had gotten into it and kept it from blowing at its full peak, also I had some trouble with the little connnecters on it, had to set them back just right.
  15. Wish mine has one of those anti-backfiring dealies, mine shoots a damn flame out the back everytime I shift. No wonder my girlfriend wont ride in it.
  16. I have a 91 Legacy Sedan and the only problem that I have had it is the Automatic transmission, damn thing has been slipping but it does have 215,000 miles on it.
  17. What i am talking about is taking the 5 Speed out of my GL Hatch and putting that into a 87 5 speed EA82 wagon because its tranny is burned out.
  18. I have a 5 speed out of my EA81 hatchback, does anyone know if it will bolt up to an EA82 wagon that needs a new tranny?
