  1. This is battlewagon's Outback. I'd love to put one of those headers on mine.
  2. I highly doubt one from an outback will work. You will need to find the backing plate off of an RS or OBS. May throw you a WTB ad up here: http://www.rs25.com/forums/f185-wtb-wanted-buy
  3. The subaru alarm: http://s784.photobucket.com/albums/yy129/djfunk/99%20OBS/Keyless/Security/
  4. There should be a yellow label on one of the battery terminals. If it is missing that, it may be an aftermarket unit afterall.
  5. Ebay? I hate referring people there becuase I don't like using but that's all I can think of. I can just about bet it was the same remote that my RS had. Care to post a picture of the button when you get a chance?
  6. The security system looks to be similar to the ones that were installed on the 98-01 RS's. Supposedly, they were mainly a dealer add on and they were kinda just thrown anywhere that would fit. The security system piggybacked off of the keyless, I do believe. The speaker/siren for mine was mounted against the firewall right above the master cylinders. The red light won't have any words on it. It is in fact, a button. There should also be another button down right at the very bottom of the dash where your shins would be.
  7. Don't want to be the bringer of bad news already out the gate. The 98 RS never got a rear LSD. It was an option in 99 and standard for the 00-01MY. It will have a DOHC phase I 2.5.
  8. Ship me those 5 spoke goldies. I would have just about killed for a set for my 2000 RS a few years ago. Rally blue pearl, smoking hot color.
  9. Went to the dragon this weekend: (Yes, I know I stole the proofs) A purchase was made.
  10. I no longer watch the news. Just Subaru Alliance videos.
  11. That is the one omitted key. Plug the two green connectors together under the dash and count the flashes when/if you replace the bulb. A parts store won't be able to pull this code as your car is not OBDII.
  12. That's nuts. I pray my 95 Outback holds out as long as yours has. 2nd gear synco is a bet of a complainer though.:-\
  13. I about spit my drink out when I saw the wire nuts. Sweet heavens.
  14. Agreed. They are just a fad. I would be interested in purchasing another shirt. Just certainly NOT in yellow.
  15. A key note: PO did most of his driving on cobblestone streets. I drove on a few when I picked it up that day in Orlando. Felt like driving across the moon's craters.
  16. Everything was a-ok at that time. I guess I didn't inspect the tophat bearings that came with the car whenever I swapped out the PDE camber plates. Thing steered fine up until that one morning turning into work. Miles on the car at failure was 72,000. It is an 05 after all and I am sure the dealer would just laugh at me.
  17. Imagine my dismay. The tophats wouldn't even turn smoothly when removed and spun. The underside had grease blown out of the inner race.
  18. Yup. I saw a writeup on the RS board on how to wire them so they can can stay on with the high beams as well as come on independent of the headlights. I would have attempted it but people were mentioning burnt wire issues.
  19. Update that I forgot to post from back in early March. The PO ran camber plates that caused a TON of unnecessary wear on certain suspension components. Pulling into work's parking lot one day at a slow speed, I was getting a real bad popping sound. Turns out, the spring was trying to turn causing the bound up sound. The car sat for a week or so while I gathered thoughts, purchased a set of spring compressors and tackled the job. I ordered new group-n tophats, new conical washers, new upper spring perch, and a new upper rubber seat. The tophats are really hard and have a nice Bridgestone emblem imprinted on the top. The bearings were completely shot in the old ones and would not turn smoothly. The carnage, used vs new.
