  1. This MAY work if they guy still has it: http://www.rs25.com/forums/f177/t135993-99-rs-stock-airbox-w-maf-sensor.html
  2. Incorrect. 99 was the odd ball year where SOHC was present along with MAF. 2000 was the change over to the MAP sensor. http://www.cars101.com/subaru/forester/forester_archives.html#new%20for%20%2799
  3. 99 Forester would have a SOHC. You could also maybe get lucky and find a 99 2.5RS, those MAY work.
  4. I think you should go ahead and factor in that even though the engine has 90k, the head gaskets probably haven't been done yet. I would bet money that they will end up going very soon.
  5. Just gonna throw this out there. You didn't happen to put the MAF in backwards did you? If possible. Can you get us a good shot of the engine bay?
  6. Agreed. My first car was a 4EAT 91 Legacy. I hated it! I knew right then that everything I owned had to be a manual tranny.
  7. If they are flashing sounds like you may have triggered the car's security system. What model and year of Subaru do you have?
  8. Another reason I miss my BRAT. That dual-range tranny was amazing in the snow and on dirt roads.
  9. Survey says: Tom gets a dual range....now.
  10. I am still trying to work up the initiative to re-boot my inner axle. I put a used boot on it two weeks ago and the replacement ripped in just a few days worth of driving.
  11. Hell of a job Tom. Looks good man.
  12. Gotta ask. You dropped it behind the dash when changing your HVAC bulbs?
  13. I know it might not be related. Won't an intermittent, failing fuel pump cause it to die when turning? Fuel filters been changed?
  14. Thank you. I remember pulling OBDI codes on my 91 Legacy. Don't know if it matters now or not but my Outback is a 5 speed.
  15. I know I say this all the time. I'd go ahead and get the thing replaced or you'll wind up stranded on the side of the road.
  16. Take the car to Autozone and have them pull the codes there. Just takes a few minutes to do. The car is OBDII so there is a special reading tool for it.
  17. Got ya. I know what you are talking about now. I guess I will be doing some more investigating. How do I pull an ABS code next time?
