  1. Looks like some kind of wigged out VW Rabbit. I couldn't imagine woud 750 hp would feel like in that thing; probably the equivalent to a fighter jet coming off the deck of a carrier.
  2. My campus is about two miles for me, work is about 3. I usually go about 20 minutes early and set the choke and let the old girl warm up. My switch is warn out so I can take the keys out and lock the door while its running and also lock my apartment up without having to turn the brat off.
  3. Wish I could afford those jump seat belts at this time. I must defer to SubaruGuru. Buying engagement ring this weekend, been putting that off since I bought the BRAT last fall. Ill eventually throw up a wanted ad cause I need the male bits as well being that one side is rusted together, belt and male part. Ebay would bring a high sum for those. Kyle.
  4. Yet again I have to say this. Go to the dealer and get a thermostat and gasket. They are awesome, I am running one as well.
  5. You should grab them "Turbo" side view mirrors and make you some money.
  6. Sounds like you have an alternator on the way out. My hatchback did some goofy things when it started to go on it. I.E.: wipers coming on and blowing every light in the climate control and half in the cluster and my normal running headlights. I too had to drive home with the brights, alot of other pissed off drivers blinded.
  7. Ive done just about the same thing you have with the interior on my blue brat, just not replaced everything all at once like that. Looks like a heck of a job. Keep us updated.
  8. Thanks Jordan, She really is running alot better, gonna go right now and run some seafoam in the gas and the carb to clear out some more of that carbon buildup that was in my EGR.
  9. Never seen blue climate controls before. I had a cb in hatchback for awhile till one day the wiring caught on fire and burnt my leg and fingers. How do you have the antanna coming back into the cab?
  10. If memory serves me correctly, the Carter-Weber was a one barrell or something. I assume its still for sale in the "for sale" forum. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=80874&highlight=buy+a+weber This a retailer a few people have used. http://www.redlineweber.com/
  11. The one we refer to alot is the Weber, the carter-weber is a completely different thing and you don't want one of them. I rememeber the hitachi being a mess of hoses on my hatchback and to do anything was a real challenge. Luckily, I bought a brat that already had a weber on it and it makes doing spark plugs, intake gaskets, heater hoses and alternator work so much easier.
  12. Well Rick, there really isn't much I can do besides trying to lowball the dealership into giving me a discount. Didnt charge you tax either. I had to pay 1.51 in tax on mine.
  13. Million points for using the douching technique with a carb cleaner.
  14. Explain to him about all the manual tranny Subes that are sitting in your driveway and that you know a thing or two about driving. And that these cars have several hundred thousand miles.
  15. Here some of mine before I swapped over to the unbroken center console from my other BRAT. The idiot before me broke every single tab and screw hole in the console that is in the picture. It's better now. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=78422&page=2&highlight=window+crank
  16. Thanks, been wanting to take the rotors off my 84 hatch and throw on my Brat.
  17. How can you tell the difference, look at the side? My brat was made in 5/83.
  18. Fixed them today, what a job! Bought a can of PB blaster this morning and put three good helpings of the stuff on the bolts. Didnt break a single one  Got the manifold off and figured I would clean the EGR up since I had it off. That thing was completely clogged up in carbon buildup you couldnt see the button piece that raises the diaphram it was so bad. Also the pipe that bolts next to the egr looked like a clogged artery. Used a good can of carb cleaner on it. So after cleaning up the gasket surface and dumping a weber carb full of gas on my hoodie we put the thing back on. Hooked up all the hoses and fired it up. It must have sat there burning off coolant for at least 15 minutes and after that everything was fine. Had to re-adjust the carb since I didnt have a large vacuum leak that would hold your whole thump on. Here is the wonderful gaskets that was taken off and replaced with my OEM Subaru gaskets. Thanks for the help guys. -Kyle.
  19. Thanks guys for the compliments on my BRAT, this thing is my pride and joy and awesome conversation topic at gas pumps. As for the camper top, the rails are a nice touch. Thought at Christmas time riggin some lights up to it and entering it in the local parade in the vintage auto division. Ive never heard of the brand and not had much luck in a google search either "Trav-A-Cap" is the name of it and has a 1-800 number but its for a home financing company. Also said it was made in Goshen Indiana if that helps. I checked the topper example pages and dont really see any that match it closely. Anyone else heard of the brand?
  20. Wish I could find a good cosmic blue tailgate. Dont plan on lifting it, been going for a restored look.
  21. The motor is shot in it. Been using it as another parts source. My buddy just stopped by in his WRX, took some pics for this occasion.
  22. This is the most recent with the camper: This one is my all time favorite, my white parts brat that is off by 4 on the VIN number,
