  1. Yeah, a post from two years ago. whoopie. Uhm... help me out guys, doesn't she work at Chaplins now?
  2. SubieGal is a member here, but last time I checked she didn't work at Carter. Oh, and if you see a screaming firechicken (blue Trans-Am), that's my friend Josh, one of their lube techs. That wagon is freakin sweet. That's the exact same color my '76 DL sedan was.
  3. Heh, yeah! Heh, yeah! Plop. Heh heheh. hehehe. Cool.
  4. I'm going to be leaving in a couple hours, and I need to just confirm the parts I'm scavenging for. There's been a lot of conflicting information that I've read between the FAQs on XT6.net and the posts here, I just want to know for sure before I go... For the front... I've been told that EA82 struts will work, 92-94 Legacy struts will work, and 95 FWD Impreza struts will work. is this correct? If so, WHICH SPRINGS do I use with which struts? (noone has EVER answered the spring part, and it's kind of scaring me...) For the rear... at least the consensus is FWD XT6 springs/struts (if I can find them) or EA82 rear struts... but again, noone has said what springs go with the EA82 struts. Are they the stock EA82 springs?
  5. That actually sounds about right. My wife's Tucson was $7900 to fix, and she rear ended someone pretty hard on the freeway. had to replace the front bumper, both fenders, the hood, radiator, support, all the lights and electrical bits up front, straighten the frame, align the suspension, and paint the whole front end. And the car was new enough at the time that body parts had to be shipped in from Korea. (Actually, I still have the writeup of the repair right here, it's... 6 pages long of parts and labor.) 13+ hours of paint work, 23+ hours of body work, and 2.5 hours of frame work. The labor alone came to $1850.
  6. If you love that, go find an XT6 with a hosed suspension.
  7. Sorry to hammer on this point, but I'd like to hit PaP on Saturday if I can... Front = Gen1 Legacy struts + which springs? Rear = EA82 (2WD?) struts + which springs? It's ok if the car rides lower than normal, as long as it's consistent across the board. (Actually, as I'd like to autocross it, lower would be better) I know the writeup on XT6.net says that adjustable Impreza springs can be used if something gets ground down, but I don't have that sort of equipment. I need a setup that will literally bolt in once I have the strut/spring assembly together.
  8. Hmm... I'd never reccommend that. That's very dangerous, you're not only weakening the spring by cutting it, you're also changing the design rather unpredictably. One of my former neighbors did that to his Jetta and ended up jamming one of his front struts up through its mounting point when he hit a road hazard too hard...
  9. OK, but with Leg struts they sit right? With what springs?
  10. The fronts off a 2WD XT6 won't work? Okey... Off to PaP I go.
  11. EG33T?  (Ok, that wasn't helpful)
  12. Yup yup... There's just something right about being in the "cockpit" of an XT, if you will. Now, to find my helmet so I don't brain myself on the way home. hehe
  13. Out with the frustrating, in with the running. I went to go look at my new "potential project" this evening, and was very impressed, so it's official. On Saturday, I pick up an '88 XT6 AWD 5-speed with 115k miles and a strong-running drivetrain. Downsides... completely shot suspension, and the cybrid steering is out. The latter of the two doesn't bother me, I can always drive it like it has manual steering. It's a very pretty gray color... but I'd swear it's a couple shades lighter than the normal XT's "Lucent Gray"... does anyone know what this is? or is this just a faded Lucent that needs to be buffed? In other news, I may have a line on a free (destroyed) Legacy in the northend. It was sitting next to a barn that burned down, and the back end of the car is burned out... but it looks like forward of the firewall is OK... maybe even some stuff under the car, too. I'm awaiting pictures and details. Anyway, if it turns out that there are usable parts, I'll refer this to anyone looking for an EJ22 that can haul it away. (Please do not reply about the Legacy in this thread... it does not belong to me, and it will not be parted out by the owner. If you must, PM me)
  14. Psh... I got it imprinted on me when I was 4 and my parents bought the DL wagon. (First ride @ 16, '76 DL sedan)
  15. Less than 24 hours left till I go look at this new beast... Mmm... wedgetastic!
  16. x 50... you don't see many of those anymore... much less in that good of shape.
  17. Hm... all of my previous wedges had nothing on the back. The body itself has a slight angle/tilt at the back there, which has always worked for my eyes.
  18. Of course most of you know I've been looking for another project since I deemed the t-coupe "unrestorable". I may have found it... I'll withhold details until the car is actually in my possession, which will probably be early next week. the only thing I WILL say however is... "Long live the Wedge!" ('84 t-coupe now very seriously for sale, make offers)
  19. I dunno, I don't think the t-coupe can swim.
  20. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/80s/specs/general/specyears.html 4WD Hatchback wheelbase: 93.3 inches 4WD Wagon wheelbase: 96.6 inches The doors are completely different between the two models. Honestly, if you really want the body, you'd probably be better off finding a body in another country and having it imported. I can't imagine the kinds of problems you'd have with the car after making such an attempt, only ever seen one man take a 4 door and successfully turn it into a 2 door (Chip Foose).
  21. If you give up on the XT, I will personally come down there and slap you around with a t-coupe. Because you know in the end the XT will be fine. Once ALL the coolant lines are replaced.
  22. upload all of the pics to your gallery, then post a link to one of the pics in a message, and we can scroll through and look at what you posted.
  23. See, as soon as the words BBQ and Seattle were mentioned in the same sentence, the weather turned wet. (still sick, I don't think anyone would appreciate me spreading it)
