How much $ would you pay for a distributor to fit EJ ?
jono replied to jono's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I keep reading that Oz get carbed EJ's too ! I think more than a few Aussies have searched high and lows of NZ for these, no evidence yet! Hate the smell of petrol Bennie, no petrol tank is confirmed in one, hate to think how bad the other utes tank is - not seen petrol in ten years ! Gas is nice n torquey down low Still, might have to cobble a jerry can up to it to make it work, then work backwards to propane it. Guru Greg will help:) -
How I cured my tickety tappets EA81

This oughta do http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Professional-DC12V-10A-Aquarium-Temperature-Controller-Thermostat-LCD-Display-GT/172761985585?epid=22004532396&hash=item28396ab231:g:XDkAAOSwN2VZWjNi If you find others make sure has 12V coz the do house Volts too and this one ranges minus 40 C to 110 C Some go to 120 ? Others only 100 Been fitting them for years, adding a buzzer to the back. Fun to play with just in the breeze watching the tenths of a degree change as the wind changes Great place to stuff them is in that modesty panel above feet so her bits dont dangle about your feet -
10mm head bolt or 12mm?

Even worse if you just changed the oil. Wasyte of god oil. Water sinks to the bottom so comes out first, unless you have been able to mix it with heat and pressure

while you are on the topic of the little male connector. Old Japanese cars often need a little modern pick me up here to take load off iginition switch So, a 30 or 40A relay with a built in fuse in its front joey pocket be good. Run nice fat wire from battery POS to 30 on relay The female wire black/white trace goes to 86, instead of to starter solenoid from now on in Wire 85 to a reliable earth Nice fat wire, black with a white trace if you score one from a wreck from terminal 87 to the male spde on the starter solenoid This set up means power from ignition is not loaded up with starter solenoid power, just light load to switch across 86 to earth 85 holding coil to bridge the heavier wire from battery to starter solenoid This may fix your problem or prevent from occuring at a later stage

dont waste ya time on fiddling with rad temp switches. I'll see if I can find a link for you on chi'bay. Under fifteen bucks for a little box like the watchdog TM2 or TM4 or the engine guard being flogged on telly. Once you work it out you set the temp the elctric fans come on and adjustable for how many degrees you want fans on. Currently set mine to wake up at 91C, turn fans on at 92 and back off at 91 or 90.9?. Could hold em on longer down to 85 or 86 but finding they cycle well like any modern car set up. Huh, if his auto trans cooler section springs a leak at least it will only be water mixing in with water :D I hate how most EA81 elec fans wait until 3/4 before coming on. I fitted a new tridon supposedly 10 C cooler. No flipping different -
someone could turn one out of what? nylon or one of the many plastics available. Shees, an old cotton reel for starters

There aint no L Series harness in B3 . Sorry I confuse the heck out of people most of the time. This is my 89 Brumby running the Mongrel EA82 LPG and 22* of advance static. Cant knock an EA82 until you try that ! Pretty certain this EJ is gonna be a closet runner in a custom made box, once running, just sit there until I am ready. All this started coz of bloody Giles wanting a few EA81 spares, cant get to those until poo boxe Commodes and this Lib are out of the way, then another twenty cars or so before I can get at the depths of this 440 m2 mancave for the other EA81 wagon, 16 vehicles jammed in the front yard - mostly cripples and invalids -
Just call it multi tasking

Buy another old Sube and see if you get lucky third time 'round?

Maybe nothing fried the FL, I have found many Subes after 23 years need clean FLs. A replacement may be all it needs. PO give you any history on it?

Thanks for spelling it out Matt When I first saw 36-1 had no idea, then a guess was the -1 stood for a cog that started life as 36 equally spaced teeth on it, due to a full revolution being 360 degrees, divide by ten, punch out a tooth for TDC or timing degrees before TDC, still to work out So, a 36-2-2-2 has three sets of two teeth missing equally spaced ? -

OK one vote for zip, zilch, nada trivial for Elite Master Status yeah I am not going to really be able to use petrol, not even sure it has a fuel tank underneath. Propane or LPG has enough pressure in the tank so no pump required unless I went liquid injection OK I understand constant 12V (battery 12V+) , switched 12V (IGN +), does the ECU provide pos or neg switching to fuel pump ? and where is this start signal, something from the starter motor solenoid that changes status from start to running ? -
Hey, how about you come up with results of step one before you advance to step 4 !! May be no need to go there !!

imagine if your doctor was back probing you with your consent, you stick the pointy end of your digital multi meter or analogue one if that is the case into the back end of a wiring socket so you touch the part of the terminal that has the crimps around the wire. Youd be looking at the back end of the plug not the front end where the matching plug fits and everything is insulated preventing your DMM probing You can now buy plastic cased Female Fusible Links called FFL for short, that plug in in place of the coloured fabric ones. Just check leg length of FFL, some are not correct fit. Light blue 20A is a safe intro rating
