sad to read this. don't give the bandits credit for even thinking of doing anything with it other than use if for getting from point A to B worst thing finding suspected stolen car dumped is being told by police it has not been reported stolen - report it and get the word out in your community -
An autopsy will be interesting on the pipe. Current engine supposed to be low km import but must be getting harder to believe after 30 years. Even when they were 20 years old was hard to believe and still cheaper to rebuild one back then than buy unknown import. Had one with orange sealant and new head gasket. Never in now 35 years seen a true import come in so touched and it revealed 50% compression loss in one pot but was still smoothest strongest EA82T I have driven ...no one would detect that blow by ...

I made a timing belt tension tool by using spare cam wheel adding four M6 x 20 bolts through from back of each the four holes secured with a nut so bolts extend beyond nut Then make tool as it is now kiss face to face with cam wheel align bolts into matching holes then a ccw torque wrench ( better known as wrist) Oh yeah, a short M10 bolt and nut through centre hole to run 'torque wrench' on centrally

I have two different 'size' exhaust cross over turbo up pipes. One with 36mm hole directly below the turbo which gives a nice low down torquey response, and the 42mm hole just takes me by surprise as to how quick and easily it will rev out to 6500 rpm but lacks the low down torque I like for my purposes ( not trying to blow everyone else off at the lights) This pipe came from a donor EA82 wagon that inherited Vortex running gear minus disc rear. It looks like someone has tried to open it up below turbo side head to give it who knows what, but the pipe continuing on to the turbo is still the same scrawny thing. I have a certain long hill to go up almost daily and my 36mm piped EA82Ts will walk up in 5th gear, light throttle, no labouring whereas this engine, with this pipe loses it and needs a shift down a gear , or two - then sort of blows my up the hill in its 80 kph speed limit zone. My NA Mongrel could do this as well in any top 3 gears

SHOOT ! Only taken decades for this MISTAKE to be questioned !! We use Gregories manuals here in Australia and from memory any M6 into aluminium is about the 5 ft lbs and when I feel anal I get out the inch pound torque wrench. Maybe they meant 3 - 5 ft lbs ?? Every manual based on a complete teardown and rebuild !! So, I guess you would not want their leftovers eh ??

I have seen them on eBay as a one off New Old Stock or just a clean up of personal items rather than a run of them. China is now making water pumps so oil pumps may be something to come. Maybe renew oil pressure light switch and go from there if oil light indicates any problem I doubt it will -
GD may be correct but many dealers will not have a clue as to part numbers and service stops there

I still keep a 'diagnosis' CV shaft for eliminating suspect new CV shafts. Might take 45 min to swapbut has fixed problem each time and suspect axle is out ready for warranty. Good idea to fit those engine mount bolts before they do bite you. $450 ! You need to turn up in cheaper threads maybe? -

I recall the Gen1 guy was some sort of professor and his beast landed in someone else's hands. Was it Damon, Dameron or the like? Jeszek announced he was stepping back in time to old family values, face to face friends as i think cyberspace was interfering with his quality of life etc -

Stallone, do you actually have a new pump? Here in Aus we got the better EA81 oil pump for our harsh conditions so they last longer than the rest of the vehicle. I have had many EA81 with over 300,000 km up to 500,000 km and know of one still going beyond its odometer life at an average of 40,000 km a year. All still the original oil pump. Don't believe everything you read or hear. That bit above about an Aus spec oil pump ...my BS moment on the internet -
Are you using all the old AC/alt brackets? XT were arse about compared to std non XT. Wot you got? I go for non AC bracket which uses separate L shape bracket bolts to head or cam box with 15? mm spacer. It had long adjuster slot and I use a 12A915 V belt

write like this and you are going to confuse people ( much like I did when I thought a tailshaft uni joint had a fancy name - constant velocity joint :) confused poor message recipient on a rear wheel drive car ) Does FWD stand for Four wheel drive in your case ? Cos FWD is more often used to say Front Wheel Drive Centre diffs are generally only in 4WD four wheel drives that are constant four wheel drive or All Wheel Drive AWD You forgot to mention a few details of your car. I had an auto FWD EA81 which from memory, ran usual gear/diff oil 80W90 in the front (and only) diff and tranny fluid in the auto section of it. Don't recall it having two dipsticks. Don't recall much about my 4WD auto 3 speed auto and if it had gear oil in the diff and tranny fluid only in the tranny gear change section

BRATATATtat...what you describe EA82T 5MT disc rear LSD is exactly what I run in my 89 Brumby - go crazy and you will need the EA82 clutch pedal and clutch cable. Scrounge about for an EA81 body front sway bar from a 4WD auto and space it about 10mm off the body to clear the gearbox if it is an AWD I suspect it is as you mention locking diff. This not needed if just part time 4WD

goodness me ! I wonder if it was made to fit under the standard height bonnet? Is there a specific cam to go with it? Is something like this also good mud puddle crawler or would it dig your way through the other side of the world? -

I asked for better pics, as to me of that one shot, I cant see the outside casting of the tube where intake air goes to outer intake valves of a standard EA81, which is why I suspected it may be an EA81S First trick I would be doing is turn it over, next pull spark plugs. Not hard to pull sump for a good look either -

IG you can supply a shot of the top side of the heads you may cause some frothing...from what I see it looks to be the twin port with valves configured different to normal ea81. Google ea81S -

I have read what you want, but don't have what you want. I suppose you know Subaru manuals measure vehicle clearance height from centre of the inner lower control arm bolt? Might help others to see what measurements you have. I have aftermarket struts and aftermarket heavy duty coils in my Brumby originally fitted to 85 GLTA 4WD sedan. Factory, the coils were handed, and marked with up to three different colour paint daubs on the coil itself in pink, lime, white, blue , yellow, so may help if those supplying you measures also declare the paint daub coded, top colour first, then read down- 11 replies
