  1. ok, so slight highjack but its related so bear with me... How alright is it to switch between hi and low range on the FT4WD's? Do you have to be stationary? Or just any old speed? Should be alright if you clutch proper and stuff right? Sorry for slight hi-jack..
  2. Yeeep. I said the same thing too when I had my XT You know the tab you pull down to un-latch the seat, lift it up and thare she goes! Little plastic(?) key hole. Yeah I never used it though....
  3. I think you might be right there, its not a 'Genuine' RX, I think over here those were called RXII's. This one is an 'Omega RX'. Oh well, it still rocks! http://s8.photobucket.com/albums/a28/waimaks/Omega%20RX/ I lost of piece of trim on the way home... No idea where it is:mad: See the gold striped bit front left fender... Not there Vin goes as :JF1AG5CROBGXXXXXX
  4. No rear spoiler either.. Pics to come this afternoon. But yeah I replaced the fuel filter on the way home, because it tried to strand me after we filled it up. I think we must have stirred up some crud in the tank. The old filter was 160,000km and 13 years old... I think it must be a 87.5 cause its got the hotwire maf thing, is that right? Difflock works, it just needed a fuse! Also, is it ok to use the dual range like a 6th gear kinda thing? Or is it only to be switched between at low speed or something? And its not completely loosing power at high rpm, just sorta feels a bit like its varing and having trouble a bit.. Does that make sence.... Thanks for the help. Pictures to come!
  5. Ok, so I sold the Vortex a week or two back... And today I picked up a 1987 Omega RX thingee. I will get pictures up asap tomorrow, but in the meantime... Did the RX come in different trim levels? Cause... I've got the front air dam thing, The little tri-angle plastic mud deflector or something things by the rear wheels, no rear skirt thing, cloth seats, no power steering, crank windows, air con, alloy wheels... Is it just me or is this combo a little mixed up? But yeah, it goes alright... Maybe lacking a little on power compared to the Vortex, power is a bit off feeling over about 4700rpm or so, goes all stuttery nearly? 262,000km, not much rust.. as far as I know...:-\ Anyway, any comments and stuff would be cool, where do you guys suggest I start on the tune up etc? TIA Stoaked on having one of these anyway:headbang:
  6. Nice! This would be one of the things I hope to do sometime. Rock on!
  7. THats a goood lookin car. Would have to be the deal of the century!
  8. Thats a nice look Brat. Congrats on the passing inpection etc.
  9. Umm, Filmed a couple of months ago. I still have that battery, works well. The date scratched on it is 2004 I think, so not too old. I think its a NZ made battery, can't remember. Hi-jack over, so to speak.

    got sand?

Looks like fun! Nice! That AMC thing is an interesting creature....
  12. I can't attest to the 70's ea71. But my sisters 1600 (which I'm pretty sure is the high compression one) hauls more rump roast than my ea81 at top end. Its a damn fine little runner. some nicer carbs and it sure would be a fun one.
  13. I thought any model american cars were rare anywhere out of the US? And yes Ssangyongs... Gotta ring to it don't it? *spews* http://www.weblogsinc.com/common/images/7706036481524560.JPG?0.6671570394871691 http://www.channel4.com/4car/media/motorshows/frankfurt2005/off-roaders/03-large/ssangyong-kyron-r.jpg I'm sure they are great cars..
  14. Thats sure something we DON'T need.I dislike marketing ploys though. I feel I'd buy a car for its features styling etc, not just because it was marketed towards me.
  15. Well... I guess the lsd would weigh probably about the same as normal diff? Which I have one I could try weigh, as soon as it comes off the wagon... and the rear discs.. They are on the vortex.. Maybe if no one else knows I might be able to pull them and weigh, Would rather not have to bleed it though.
  16. Hi there. I probably won't be able to help much sorry. But I will keep my eyes open and ask around, see what I can find out for you.
  17. Bump for cheapies... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=65554403 http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=66437131 I only found these a little while ago and they close soon. Someone might find it usefull...
  18. Mmmm Those things look good. Specially in the NZ version. Sure would come in handy as there aren't really many places to put guages on these i reakon.
  19. Oh Yeah. I asked at the parts place again yesterday. Can only buy whole door hinge assemble, about $45 each from japan. And can get the sus bush from japan at about $25 each or something from japan. May take weeks. So they said my best bet was to take the old one out and get it matched up at a shock shop.
  20. Wow Dude I'm jelous! Props to you:) I look forward to seeing how this goes.
  21. Heh Oh well... At least we know what we are talking about... Just another Q. Since its got the dual range and 1800, is it just the engine mounts and tranny mounts and the axels that are slightly different, or are they the same as the 1600 brumby?
  22. Hey there cuba street. First off, I had a talk to the Subaru parts guy and he said I'd need to take him my chassis number, I'll do that tomorrow. (He also exclaimed while asking "You still with that little thing" "of course" then I said there was a Vortex involved too and he started laughing at me....:-\) On the manual front, I think I've got a 77 Factory Service Manual and a 82 FSM for my dad coming my way off trade me, So hopefully I'll be covered by those two... Stupid crossover year makes it difficult doesn't it?.... I'm planning on trying to replace balljoints and tierod ends once I've got the money, they don't need it yet I think, but I still want to. I'm pretty sure mine was NZ new aswell. Thanks for the reply, Ill let you know how I get on, anyone feel free to shed some light on the 1981 brumby and the differences between it and the 80' and the 82' JOhnB
  23. So while checking the balljoints when I was trying to track down the reasoning for my stiff steering... (still unsure, maybe I'm just going paranoid) I found the bushing between the wishbone suspension thing and the crossmember on one side had a decent amount of play, nearly metal to metal type of thing. What is the story with replacing this one, they are replaceable right? Easy to buy from parts places? Do I need to to both at once? I hope my description is enough. Thanks for any help.
  24. Wagon wheels FTW! I would have to say I like the look of a nice set of wagon wheels better than nearly all the other wheels available. Double Hi-jack
  25. I had similar symptoms when my wheel bearings were going out. How is the nut loosening? Doesn't the cotter pin stop that? I'm not sure what to say about it not lasting a complete rotation. I say eliminate your wheel bearings first anyway. Jack up one side at a time, spin wheel and listen for anything. Hope I may have been of some help.
