"Bellows" repair/manual steering/any suggestions
waimaks replied to Petersubaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I replaced the boots with some universal ones you cut to the right size... Like $10 worth. -
Fair enough. Any other takers?
-
Cream/beige with a green tinge..... The 4wd console thing and boot are ok. Shifter console thing has a bit of a crack around the bottom. Boot is kinda torn. Bit with radio and vents doesn't appear broken, But I could be wrong. Heater control area looks ok, Maybe a bit grubby. Note, all interior bits are coated in a slight green layer and dead animal smell...
-
Umm, Light brown orangey beige if I remember rightly. I will check proper when I'm home this afternoon though.
-
By center console do you mean the bit with the heater controls, stereo, cigar lighter etc? Most of the plastic bits have at least a couple scratches and things, but is fairly intact, no major breaks from what I've seen. If theres something you need we might beable to sort something out if its not too busted up?

has anyone built there own lockers ???

How does this work exactly? The way I see it, does it just press on the two opposite gears to make them spin at the same speed? *shrugs* -
Vroom Zoom ZOoom! hmm, I think I might have an axel out, and maybe some kind of fuel electrical issue?
-
A rotor nut friend of mine sent me this link.... http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8660965476708197281&q=13b+subaru Does good skids?
-
Heh. That cars got 'character'. I like the Hemi Power stickers etc.
-
Complex engine hoist equipment:brow:
-
Heh It didn't have anything when we got it. I reakon this aftermarket tailgate is probably lighter, maybe even more secure than the Subaru kit? That was good fun though. I've already got people nearly lining up for the next trip. The guys at work were surprized when I told them where we had been, Supposedly its a track not for the light hearted...Opps.

I endorse this video

I don't know if theres anywhere that would take it for free. Only copper and aluminium etc they like to pay me money for. But I can offload it at some recycling center for like $35 if its a whole car, and $25 or something if its stripped.... All the parts so far are definately worth the money so far

Heh yeah. Tis very rusty underneath the paintwork. The main reason I'm ripping it to bits though is the godawful smell inside it. I'd still use it offroad and things like it is...... It sure was fun lifting the front up with the tractor and hearing/watching the front of it get destroyed. Not very strong thats for sure..... The whole thing kinda buckled in the middle when I lowered it back onto the barrels.....:-\ Dunno if I can open the doors ATM.. Also, Anyone at all want doors and glass. I don't need/want it and would feel bad sending it to the dump with the rest of the car. The doors aren't too bad, just some surface rust on them, maybe the odd hole....

Had a pretty productive afternoon I reakon. Nearly ready to pull motor etc. The wagon wheels have made their way onto the Brumby already. Lookin' pretty fly:headbang:
-
Look what I did to it today. I think it looks even better:) But I am biased. Edit: I think I learnt a lot on how to cross water yesterday too. As long as I keep the speed down and the splashes below the grill it hauled through all sorts of things. Most of the time when we got stuck it was because we went too quick and got the disty wet Good day anyway.
-
Yeah, I know of quite a few people that catch trout and other fish in this river and others in the area. I don't really get into that much though. I'm not what time of the year trout fishing 'season' is either. Not right now I think.
-
I think our brumbys had those too? I know theres a difference with the XTs and those lights. How odd.
-
Towed it home yesterday with the brumby:) How much does such a fine automobile cost you ask? $0! Thats right, nilch, nip, nadda, nothing! The bad part. Rust rust rust. And someone has tampered with the ignition and some electrical bits so I have no idea whether it goes. And the interior smells terrible. and 360k km So, with this beasty, I plan on pulling the ea81 and 4speed dual range, all running gear diff etc. Any other shiney bits that take my fancy. And then, its off to the dump! Anyone in NZ want any other bits off it? eg, doors, glass, interior, hatch thing? Gas struts still work. So yeah. Theres a complete 82(I think) wagon, minus running gear, g-box and motor. Free to a good home? Even just the doors or something as the body is Fubared I is well pleased. EDIT: I call dibs on fenders tooo. Maybe front bumper if no one at all wants it. EDIT#2:http://s8.photobucket.com/albums/a28/waimaks/Wagon/?

Keltik and I went for a drive in the next valley over in the two brumbys today. Got a few pictures. It was mostly riverbeds and river crossings. Good fun. +1 Subaru! Didn't get stucked toooo often either. Hot steamy fun.... Not sure what that look on my face is....Wet disty maybe? Wet disty time....Again I's stuck..Fugging cold water!...opps Keltik stuck. Those rust holes in the floor sure do fill up with water quick..... Anyway. Hope you lot enjoy. There may be some video on the way as I don't reakon the pics quite do justice IMHO

Over revving on ignition...
waimaks replied to alecbalcombe's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Ok, Umm, If its a 92 I'll assume Fuel injected? Not too much you can adjust there. And if its idling low/stalling when cold, I'd suggest trying to find/clean, the coolant temperature sensor thing. From what I know, if its not workin right, you'll have a misbehaving beasty till its warmed up right guys? And if its carbed, the auto choke thingo? Hope I'm pointing you in the right direction. More will no doubt chime in soon. Good luck! EDiT: With the pumping the gas before you try start said beasty, I'm pretty sure that'll only help if you're having trouble starting at all, eg cranking long time, and if your car is carbed. Don't think pumping the gas damages it, unless you keep it pinned? *shrugs* -
The whole article can be read somewhere on this thread.... http://www.ausubaru.com/main/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=3033&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 Yay for Brumbys

5k-6k rpm is painful sounding for my ea81 and ea82. Zoom Zoom Boom Zoom Zoom.. I mean, I havn't seen what the powerband on these things looks like, but I'm pretty sure it dissapears around 5k anyway?
