Hey, I have a friend who is looking into buying an '85-'87 Vortex (XT). All it needs is four new shocks as the current ones are leaking, something along those lines anyway. My questions though is what other ea82 vehicles can these parts be sourced from, as these are really rare here. I think its either the pushbutton 4wd or the fulltime awd with the difflock. turbo baby! Thanks all.

Wagon and Brat Part Interchangeablity
waimaks replied to waimaks's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Yep. I've got the EA81 with the DR. I think it'd probably be worth trying to get then, even if it is just for the front halve. It seems there aren't many of the first gen Subarus round here, not on the road still anyway. Nothing like spare chrome! Thanks! -
Water cooled cv's would be cooler....

In my sisters 3 Door, the Hazard symbol flashes when you have the hazard lights on, aswell as both indicator lights. They flash at different/opposing times though. Kinda funny. -

Thanks for that, Would that panel be the same on the wagons too? I don't really want to cut into mine just yet:confused:

Awesome! That makes me think I need a bullbar now......

Ok, so I'm wanting to put a decent stereo in the Brat. Yet the stock placement is the wrong shape, too narrow etc. Long story short, I think I can manage it without loosing the clock, and little cutting. I want to keep my original center console plastic thingamajig incase I need to put it back. I guess what I'm asking is, is that part interchangeable between any Gen 1's of a similar era? And what have you guys all done for Gen 1 stereos, pictures would be super.

I am aswell not fully loving the peformance of the EA-81, yet managed to get another ticket in it this morning which brings me back to earth where I don't need or want to go any faster.....its expensive. Off road though, could be a different story. Just my 5 cents

Ok, computer came right randomly... Driving this thing makes me want an rx! Or just a faster Brat..... Any other pictures needed?

Kiora Cuz! Edit: I think I've spelt the above phrase wrong. Ohh well. And I Took some photos, loaded them onto the computer, which then died and now refuses to load past the boot screen. Agrh! f*in Compaq! So umm yea, Ill work on it, maybe tomorrow or later tonight..... But its definately an EA-71

All of the "3 door coupe's" I see on here are EA-82, Is it strange that my sister has one with an EA-71 in it? Its called an "Omega" and apart from having the 1600 I can't tell it any different to any of the others. Its an 89 anyway and I'm pretty sure its all original. Round here its the only one coupe I've ever seen, apart from an RX on an internet auction a while back. Its quiet zippy in the higher rev's, less low power than my Brat but definately faster I think. ANyWay! I looked through the engine and model pages and couldn't see anything about a 1600 3 door coupe. Anyone else heard of one? Heres a few pictures anyway Ha, can you guess which room is mine in the house!:-p

hp and tow capacity
waimaks replied to milkman111083's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Engine specs This might shed some light on the HP figures As for 70miles, I think thats about 110k's. My Brat cruises ok round there. I can't say about towing though. Hope it helps -
:-\ I was looking forward to RWD too! I think I'll find a beater tranny to do it on then:D Thanks though!
