Gen 1 with Peugeot 15' 's
waimaks replied to waimaks's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Ok went to town, can't find anyone who stocks simex, still one place I havn't tried yet though. One place had some Bridgestones I think with a pretty beefy tread for about $100NZ. Sounds about right? Oh well I've got a while to think about it anyway, till the shops open up again.... -

I get payed soon:drunk: Thanks I will ask around. The tyres I have at the moment are some sort of commercial snow tyre from a long time ago, they have worn very quickly in the two or 3 months I've had the car. -

Ok, thanks for that, I am still unsure whether I will get the Peugeot wheels, But I definately need some new rubber asap... I'm getting all confused...The drivers door has pressures for 155's, and wouldn't different sizes put the speedo out? Sorry about all the questions -
Gen 1 with Peugeot 15' 's

The sides of my tyres only tell me 155 - 13, they are really old and the guy at the tyre store said the only ones of that size they sell are crap..... -

Ohk cool, I'm not completely with it on the tyre sizes etc, But would prefer wider over bigger diameter. Just been talking to the parents, If I'm lucky I may only have to pay halve the cost or something, the rest for X-mas! What do you guys think about the cheaper pair? I have no idea how available peugeot lug nuts would be over here. Thanks for the quick replies! EDiT: The Peugeot lugnuts have the same thread as the Subarus? -
Ok, I have found two sets of 15 inch Peugeot mags on a New Zealand auction site, and am very interested in buying them. I think I remember reading about offset issues and other than stock tyres on Gen 1 vehicles. True? Also what size tyres would be needed to keep stock size? One pair comes with all lug nuts, center caps and tyres with good tread, But.... A significantly higher price than the others... link And the other pair, have some curb damage, no rubber, and no lug nuts.... Link Would the rubber already on one set work ok? (see link) Any help and comments appreciated, Pictures...?

Picking up my 4th gen 1 Brat this year!
waimaks replied to Subieguy's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Lucky! I'm beginning to realize I'm not going to get any Gen 1 parts with out difficulty, The only EA-81s I've seen are a few Gen 2 Brats and one wagon......I had to modify a Gen 2 brat clutch cable to work when I broke the aluminum collar on mine. Oh well, nice find! spare parts kick rump roast! -
Specs They say its rated to 160 hp output, must be decently tough.
-
I saw someone on here talking about one carb per head, sounds hard to me, just an idea though.

Barely holds Idle at about 200 RPM
waimaks replied to JSCliff's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Sounds to me that when the choke comes off the idle is set too low, 200rpm sounds low to me anyway, not surprized it won't idle there. I could be wrong, just what seems most obvious. Oh and a 1990 Loyale seems barely Historic:drunk::-p -
word? What he said my Brat is an 81 and has the 1800

waimaks replied to 75subie's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Umm here are a couple of my Brat, Hope I resized them properly. I love this little car, sat my full licence today in it and the guy kept asking me how it goes on the sand dunes, "I've ah, never tried it out there....:burnout:." -
They don't have coilovers or leaf springs thats for sure. Hope it helps
