  1. Mine are convex shaped, that and the small diametre makes them pretty useless for anything past the a pillar. But this is getting OT

  5. Good news. Finally did clutch on friday night and saturday morning. Brumby is now good for a few more months hopefully. Found one gearbox mount/rubber is shot also, probably due to age/removing box. Those tailshafts sure make a mess don't they... This Turned to this Then this Then I took the bumper off to see what it looks like and take a few pictures.
  6. New clutch plate, pressure plate, release bearing and spigot bearing aquired for $130NZ hooray! Will get the hoist at work this weekend and have a go. Pics thread to follow.
  7. Thank you! I'm thinking they were probably just looking for any listings for an ea81 subaru or something. I will order it tomorrow. Its good also cause the larger one was a couple hundred more expensive apparently.
  8. So I'm trying to track down a clutch kit for the brumby, and the supplier I contacted said I had the option between 200mm and 220mm diametre flywheel. Anyone know off hand what the first gen ea81 flywheel is like? I'd like to order it before I pull it out of action.
  9. THats also where I'm coming a little unstuck. I asked if they were able to do entire axles, and the phone went quiet and then a slight chuckle on the other end. I took that as a no.
  10. Any clues on a chassis number I could use anyone whilst getting parts? NAS5 etc is what both the brumbys have, and it doesn't really seem to match up with much else, for example the GSR which is A22 from memory.
  11. Ok, so I've been having a bit of trouble getting CV's for the brumby, everywhere I try don't recognise the chassis number, which has got me thinking whether the NZ ones were a little oddball? First gen(1981) brat ea81's are supposed to be the top mount starter right? Where I'm sure mine are sidemount, both of them, and one has definately not had a repower. Belt driven cooling fan, apparently US didn't get those right? I have adjustable front shocks/ride height. Havn't seen any mention before on the forum of those. Here are some pictures of the adjusters, and some assorted others from my CV swap today. I wound them right out on the parts car to experiment, might wind them up on the good one once I've found a source for CV's. Showa stamped into the shocks, they're a good brand right? This Compared to this Old VS new(er) no more clunks. Magnetic trays ftw! Hard to see, but mud filled pads.... Maybe it was a bit deep that one time.

  13. Kevin, did you end up getting this beaut? That interior is beautiful and I'm loving the rear windable windows, wish the GSR did that.
  14. All I can think of now is faulty gauge? I'm outta ideas.
  15. So at this point... If you ground the wire going to the thermo switch. The fan goes? And you checked the connection from the radiator to chassis? Then we know that the Thermo Switch is not earthing out at the right temperature. Try earthing the thermo switch wire onto the rad itself or fan chassis.
  16. Just a quick thing to check,if I'm right, The thermoswitch grounds out into the rad, but if your rubber bushes are all good on the rad and you don't have a jumper from the rad to chassis, no fan there either. Something to overlook easily and think the thermoswitch isn't grounding out right.
  17. The brake booster? I don't think my m/c is too bad, nothing a $12 reseal kit probably won't fix. The booster is whats really bad.
  18. Ok, So as some of you will have seen in the thread started by Cubastreet (Thank you man!), I aquired a '73 GSR coupe for a steal. I'm now going about getting it back up and running road worthy. In brief, brakes need overhaul, small bit of welding needs doing, a throw out bearing I suspect and not too much else at this point hopefully. I've found I can get reseal kits for the M/C, front calipers, and drum slave cylinders ok, But I have a feeling the booster is shot to say the least, this is on top of the list of things to do, but I have a feeling it cannot be serviced AT ALL, would I be right? I can't find one at any of the usual retailers in my area (and beyond), What other models may have booster than are similar? '81 Brat perhaps? I've got a spare one of those and they look a little similar but I havn't had either apart yet. Mostly, I'd like to know as much as anyone knows about GSR's and the early 1400's in general, and what parts can be substituted? Thanks in advance --- John
