  1. Nothing like posting with your head up your rear orfice! I was looking at the head assembly not at the bigger picture of the cam assembly coming off before head can be removed. Thanks to Gloyale's post it's nice to know I got the not interchangaable (At least with out mods) right. But that was luck and not of wisdom. Sounds like you got a decent price. I paid more for a complete set from thepartsbin, much more. I will remember this thread when I get around to tearing into the two motors I have with suspected HG issues. One ea82 and one ej22. Stumpy OT: Off to the Blue Mt. for a while. Will check back in some time in August to see the latest. Stumpy
  2. Heads can not be swapped from one side to the other. Cam forward, exhaust ports down. Stumpy
  3. Here is the link for ea81 performance engines just in case that is the one you were looking for: http://www.ramengines.com/ Stumpy
  4. This may be the one your looking for: http://www.outbackmotors.com/subaru_JDM_motors.htm Enjoy, Stumpy
  5. Would love to have custom bumpers and a swing gate but after looking at this post I see I have plenty of work in redoing my lift kit before I move on to any thing else. I'm open to tips on how to redesign my lift as I don't have mtnman38's experience and knowledge. Gathering parts to redo the steering set up right now as I'm not thrilled with that set up either. Stumpy
  6. Quotes from OEM parts catalog @ http://thepartsbin.com 12-13$ each for boot kits (inner/outer front/rear) axles assemblies from 70-102$
  7. I understand they (ea81) will work but you have to swap the drive gear off the ea82 disty. Stumpy
  8. Have never even heard of the egg trick. Black pepper I've heard of for a temp fix using common kitchen goods. Give it a try and let us know how it turns out! Stump
  9. Downloaded just fine for me. Running out of excusses for not getting mine together as I have collected all the major parts now. Will have to get time and motivation together and press on. Thanks for your time and knowledge in putting this information together. Stumpy
  10. Would like to talk to this guy about his Brats. Do you have his contact info? PM with it if you can. Thanks, Stumpy
  11. Seems to be quite a bit of difference for some reason, even though they look the same The 4eat will not interchange between those years! Body parts on the front of 90-91 are an inch shorter than the 92 and newer. Different rad frame support. AC condensor and some of the hoses are different There may be more but this is what I'm aware of right off the top of me head. Stumpy
  12. Think it's like 1/2" cable but it's defiantly not that long. Would have to have some additional cable/chains. Don't have any think else of great length my self. Pulled the only 20' chain apart with the winch a couple years back. Have one heavy choker cable 15' or so. That would still leave us way short.
  13. I have one of the 60" 5ton one's. Had to upgrade after I bent the 48" 3.5ton one. Dang China made stuff. With out a good base it will push through. How far down is hard pan? I have used 2x material before to get more surface area. Or plate steel but thats not much fun to pack around. Still have a receiver winch set up but no rig to hook it to since I sold that Ford 4x4. Don't think my van would be of much help, couldn't get it close to the work area cause it's an oversized wimp!! Stumpy
  14. What area is the Nissan in? Have a high lift! And I dig pretty good also. Not much for tranversing the mud, as you can imagine! Dang crutches sink out of sight! Will give a hand if I can. Stumpy
  15. How much gas in the tank? Had a New Yorker once that drove home fine, parked in front of house and the next time I went to drive it, no go!! Turned out to be fuel related. As in the gauge was slightly off and the pump appanently couldn't pick up any even though the LOW FUEL light had just came on. AAARRRRR!!! Put a couple gallons of gas in there, cranked a few times then fired right up. Apparnetly picked up some dirt as it's preformance went down hill over the next few days until it would only idle. But thats another story.
  16. Have seen them at Thrifty Auto for a 1$ Plastic, but for the price and what it saves in labor, who cares if you have to replace often. Stumpy
  17. Thought you would have installed that weeks ago for your trips up the hill. The screws in the bag are the one's that came off the origianl car. Don't remember what they were though. Stumpy
  18. I'm all ears. Need to do one of these my self as soon as I can get the parts!! It'll be the first one for me. Stumpy
  19. Not sure about the vacuum thingy but it should be easy to distinguish between auto or manual tranny I would think. But then again that thinking think has gotten me in trouble before. How about a pic of the trans input shaft set up and the vacuum thingy? Could help identify it. Stumpy
  20. Welcome As stated before, you have found a wonderful place with a wealth of information and very helpfull people to help you with your Subie needs!! Looking forward to those pic's. Stumpy
  21. I also have a passenger light assembly (Complete) from a 91 Loyale that I'm presently parting out. It looks to be the same but I'm no expert. If some one else can verifty for you that they are the same, that would make a complete bolt right in set up. Stumpy
  22. OK, got them out of the shed and they look great. Only issue I can see is the passenger side one is missing the metal mounting/adjustment bucket. No issues with the reflective material and the lens are quite clear. Can get you some pic's it you like. Stumpy
  23. Checked out your web site, interesting stuff. Looking at the stock bike setup as I have one but the LL setup looks like a fairly easy route. Will have to consider my options if I ever get that far. Kennedy's adapter plates are spendy but good quality from what I understand. Working on a low budget here!! As others have stated, your motor is defiantly an ea82 series. Slight HighJack here::GD or mikeshoup, can the feed back carb set up be ran without the ecm or is a must have item. Fellow member in the NE (Prince Edward Island) is doing one with this setup and I'm looking for info to help him out. Thanks, Stumpy
  24. Do either of these have rear disc brakes? Rotors on my GL-10 are warped. Think it's the passenger side that did most of the salt collecting. Is the front and rear rotors the same? If so I may be able to get by with just the front. In which case htijohnson I think it is has a set closser. Thanks, Stumpy
  25. I have a pair of those off an 86GL in my shed. Don't remember right off what condition they are in. Couldn't have been to bad or they would have went out with the scrap metal run. I have used both the bulbs out of them on my other cars. If your interesed in them 211 I will check condition and get back to you. Stumpy
