when mine runs out of gas putting more in seems to help,if it runs fine when it has more in the tank it wouldnt be a pump problem,either gauge is off,or have heard about pickup problems.

sounds like the temp sensor to me,if it was fuel you would have the problem when it warmed up too.

a brick on the throttle while you go to the movies should take care of it.

im not very sharp on electrics but would high or low voltage cause a hum?

with 2 million miles what do you expect? just kiddin.i know that is a typo.you can do a search here and find plenty,either selonoid c or wore out clutch pack.sometimes a trans flush may help.

im not convinced thats right,mine will work at a crawl,but mine is a 91 and i think it was the first version.

neither one of the recalls has anything to do with a water pump,the additive is just a sealer [stop leak] my guess is it was time for a water pump.unless there is more to the story i cant understand why you think they are responsible for the water pump?

sounds like a transmission low on grease to me.

how do you get inside?

your fans work basicly like this,when the engine gets up to temp they kick on[dont usually kick on while driving because incoming air is the same as]when temp drops to maybe 185 they shut off,when it hits 200 they kick back on. now2 if you have the air,defrost,,heat-defrost on the compresser will run maybe cycle off and on,i think this is where yours is going up and down,see how it does with heater off when car is up to temp. your fans will run if air,defrost,heat -defrost is selected on the heater control.

try this test,start the car and put shifter in nuetral,clutch out and go to the rpms that you describe and see if you have the noise,now do the same with clutch on the floor,did the noise stop,change any?

if the key actually feels like it is moving something in t5here have somebody get inside and bump on it from inside while you hold the key over,seems like when these are not opened for awhile they tend to stick to the rubber seal.

i have found that fwd cars will pull to the side that something is wore,tierod,wheel bearing. check the lf wheel for play.

front end alignment will last the life of the parts affected if you dont hit curbs,potholes etc.

keep in mind no sensors work or react till the engine temp is up to normal,im not sure about air sensor,i agree on the vacum leak,or fuel pressure.

flooded cars are easy to spot,they take out interior,seats,carpet and clean everything in sight,but what they dont clean is behind the door gaskets.this is the seal when you shut the door,just t6ake your fingers and roll back that seal and see if there is any mud under it,look in places that a pressure washer wont go. more than likely it is ok.i would call the insurance company that paid it off and get a copy of the estimate,should show all damage.

i personally think this whole idea is a little silly,if cars or trucks were meant to coast totally free they would have designed a pressure relief valve of some kind on the trans to kick it out,and i cant even imangine somebody teaching to do this.

taking into consideration the whole affair,you did the right thing. just because it is a subaru dosent mean that it is a good car,most are some arent.

ive had silicone on my vc gaskets fror over 110.000 and have not had a problem,in my opinion thats bullcrap,vapors has to pull from inside vc,up thru engine,thru pcv,burn thru the combustion chamber before it hits the o2 sensor.

why dont you take this back where you got it fixed,im sure they can answer your questions alot better than somebody that cant see what they are commenting on.

a $5.00 tube of silcone will make you a better gasket and save you money at the same time.

putting the fuse in will help a little maybe 2mpg if you are lucky,i think you are close enough to the right milage that a tune-up will help some,if the check engine light is not on,and the fuel in your area is presumed good i think you should be getting about 24-25mpg.

swap out the ignitor,get a butterfinger,and have a nice day.

im on dial up and couldnt use your links,could it be possible that the starter is so wore out that it is pulling all the amperage not giving the coil enough?
