It may tell you in your FSM, the only one I have atm is for an older vehicle with a R-12 system but the low and high side switch pressures are listed in section 4-7 under "specifications" in the manual I have. My guess would be that the low pressure switch should be closed at 40 psi though. Have you tried feeding it some vapor in low side with the dash controls calling for cooling?

It sounds like it's possible that your expansion valve is stuck shut. If that is the case if you charged the remainder of your can into the low side (with the vehicle running, if a low pressure control will allow the clutch to operate with the valve on the can at the top to feed vapor) it will probably drop the low side pressure until the low pressure control opens and stay off on low pressure. It seems like the expansion valve should feed enough to bring the low side pressure up fairly quickly and with yours staying in a vacuum on the low side to me that points to that valve not functioning.

The 4WD uses a 225mm 24 spline clutch and the non turbo FWD units use a 200mm 21 spline.

It appears that is correct. The other four from the maf connector go to three locations on the B48 (a) connector and a ground.

I don't have 81 or 83 FSM's (I do have 82 and 84) but I do have a Bently manual that shows some schematics from those years. (I believe they are FSM copy's but I'm not sure) If they would help I could attempt to scan them and see if I could get them to you.

Do you have the wire from the B56 connector from the ecu (plug C terminal 10) connected to the start circuit?

I'm pretty sure that the RX is 3.70 and the XT6 is 3.90 on the final drive ratio. I think I would grab it anyway.

The line code and part number for the "mickey mouse" o-ring from Napa is ATM LA650. It is listed as "Oil Pump Mounting Gasket". My search showed over 100 of them in the various Napa distribution centers around the country and that particular supplier has over 400 more so they should be able to get one. The seal number from Napa should be NOS 7205 and the o-ring should be available like Yo'J mentioned above. Beck Arnley 039-6320 Oil Pump Install Kit should be available also, but a dealer would still probably be your best bet.

One last vac hose to track down

I've got an 86 FSM if anything from it would help. I don't know if the vacuum diagrams are the same as under the hood but I guess even if they are if I scanned them they would be larger so possibly a little clearer. -
HiPo EA81 build questions....domed pistons?
capn_r replied to hatchsub's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
On my EA81 wagon I machined the step to the XT6 spec and am running an XT6 clutch assembly. I put in a 5 speed but I can't see why the 4 speed 225mm disc and the Nissan release bearing wouldn't work just fine with the four speeed. -
service manual section 1-1988
capn_r replied to WASHroad's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The factory service manuals that I have are broke down this way, (1) General Section (2) Engine Section (3) Transmission and Differential Section (4) Mechanical Components Section (5) Body Section (6) Electrical Section I hope that helps some. I have a 1986 manual that includes all EA82's including XT's and my later EA82 manual (!989) doesn't include the XT's (they are separate, but also include the XT6's) -
How does the chamber volume change the swept volume? (i.e. displacement)

I believe with the EA 82 4wd you want the 8 7/8 diameter unit (24 spline) if I'm not mistaken the 7 7/8 is 21 spline and used on the front wheel drive transaxles.
