edit: title: converting air intake ducting.. So here's what I'm thinking of doing. I'm wanting to do some sort of "ram air" intake on my ej22na. I've been eyeballing a similar intake design that my sister has on her '02 legacy where the filter and air box is directly above the intake. Works great and i was thinking i could maybe do something with cold air ducting and pull air from a fender or the hood, but I have a MAF sensor. Is there any way i can either relocate that or nix it completly? what i was wanting to do is put either open up the box and pull air directly from the hood above or install something like this: http://www.gorillaoffroadcompany.com/product-detail.cfm/prd_key/29. I found a thread on Dirty Impreza but see that the car they are installing it on doesnt have a MAF sensor how would i mayhaps go about that any thoughts? (thread) I realize this isnt DI, the main reason i'm asking this on here is if anyone on here has done something like this with their car? the main reason why i was thinking of this is currently i have a "hot-air" intake and was trying to get a little more uumph and fuel efficiency car: ej22na -Justin

The car: 2000 Legacy GT EJ25 SOHC So on my sisters car, in 2010, she started getting a code to replace the MAP sensor, easy enough - Replace it. But now the code came are these sensors crappy or something? i've never replaced one on any of my cars and now her's has gone through 3? Only thing i'm seeing is maybe some dirt contaminants getting around the air filter and clogging it? (i saw some dust around the sensor) edit: code is p0107 -Justin

Well, blast. I knew I should've welded the nifteh exhaust tip on there. I hit a pothole on I-25 (well, practically a small lake) and it flew off! hope I didn't hit anyone behind me....That was short-lived :-/ On a side note, I still had my old tip in the car so I put it back on there so it wasn't so loud in the car.. -Justin

more or less - yea. a gas-less MIG. I never said I was any good at welding . Anyway, my first couple welds came out pretty great, mainly because the edges were flush and i had it out from under the car. The others... eeh.. I either didnt cut it straight enough and had to weld a patch in there or pooled the weld to close the hole. eventually, I'm going to do a solid 3" piece all the way out the back but until then.. thats what i have. I particularly like, now, that I cant see the muffler from under the bumper. It sits tucked about 5 inches higher or so and the tip sits about 4 inches back too. One of the biggest things i didnt like about the first time was that i could see it hanging there - never a fan. now i did notice that the tip sits crooked a hair.. but i can live with that.. -Justin

kinda messed with the exhaust last night. Tucked it up under the car a LOT more this time as well as i added a couple inches to keep it clear of the lower control arms.. as well as took 3 or so inches off it so the tip wasnt sticking so far out the tail. LOL, my initial weld for my "extension" was perfect.. the others.. well, i should've cut a bit straighter.. would've had less filling lol! -Justin

'95 Impreza - EJ22 Automatic. I've only, at least, noticed it when the A/C is running that the engine will sit there and kinda sputter 2 sometimes 4 or even 5 times while i'm stopped. Its not the usual *kick* up rev to compensate for the A/C nor the *kick* down - I know what that feels like and why. When it does it it'll jossle the car a bit. I got a bit of video of it doing it and you can see the camera shake a bit when it does it at :07, :21 and :40 seconds. I'll try and get more video of it doing it today. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sr2qBDoCLXE it does it like 3 or 4 times right before the engine kicks down from the A/C. -Justin

+1 on the requirements. I had a similar problem with a buddy's Impy. It needs to run a baseline to figure out if the sensors are even working as well, how the engine is going to "run". 100 or 150 miles allows it to figure a decent average. In my case though, it was throwing the wastegate open and purging boost, kicking a MAF code as well as an O2. Turned out he was running 85 Octane when the book asked for >91. Obviously yours is probably not this case but sometimes its something simple like cleaning a sensor (or plugging one in, i've had those moments). good luck! -Justin

well as far as "topping out" There's only so much travel that the shock inside the strut goes. Lets say that with the stock strut and spring with stock weight compressing the strut, it compresses it 4". Thats 4" that the shock has to travel before it abruptly stops. with a spring that is stiffer/longer, if it only compresses say 2" you lose that 2" and are now 2 more inches closer to the end of the shaft. if that makes any sense. -Justin

If you are trying to get a lift out of it I would imagine that you would need the struts too. If you put taller springs on the struts you would mayyyybe get a slight taller height - sure, but you would be at the top end of the strut and you would "top out". If the Liberty is anything like the the Legacy, you could probably put outback struts under it.. just replace the "top hats" because they are different where they bolt to the frame of the car. I put struts from a '99 Outback on my '95 Impreza.. only difference was the top-hats. -Justin

looks like you got your work cut out for ya! *subscribed*!! as for the hella lights, Don't knock 'em! lights are lights. if they are 20 years old or 1 year old, *FREE* is always the best age ;-) -Justin

intriguing... Might have a look-see at something like that. been looking for something on my impy.. -Justin

so the sprint 500 replaces the OE ECU? -Justin

Well.. i unplugged the LEDs on the dash for now. I am thinking about tinting the plastic and seeing where that gets me.. i don't want it too dark but id like the whole "new age" look ;-) anyway, an update.. i got a new amp! well, CB linear amp lol!! -Justin

I'm thinking i'm sitting a bit higher on the front :-/ Thinking in need to bring the back up too *teeeheeehee* (the axles arent really angled much on the rears). The rear tophats on the OBW struts i have dont come off for some reason. I was trying to put the tophats that had my "lift" done, i couldnt get the OBW tophats off.. and i threw away the spring tops from my old Impy struts :-/ -Justin
