Interesting.. I'll have to look up dropping everything. If I were to make it just an inch, maybe an inch and a half and not knock out the existing bolts. Having these blocks on the bolts won't hurt it? I really want a larger lift but don't have really any idea how to do it, other than these spacers. What to drop, angles, etc... -Justin

I'm thinking probably not, but I'm trying to come up with an effective but cheap lift for my '95 impy. I have steel and a welder but not a whole lot in the cash department. I made little 2.25" tall by 2" wide blocks that i was thinking of putting as inserts (spacers) for the bolts for in-between the top hats and the body. I was looking at something for a more solid "all around" bolt-in but not really much in creativity. ideas? I'm not too convinced this'll work (how i was going to do it) because I think it'll bend the tophats? -Justin

Yea, my fill-ups vary because my fuel gauge doesn't work correctly half the time. Fr example, the last fill, I was at 1/16th of a tank for a while. I need to look at h sending unit at some point. The times where I spent 12 gallons worth, either I had no monies, or the gauge was telling me different. (It varies abut 1/4 of a tank sometimes dropping and raising randomly.. -Justin

Haha! My wife says e same thing! She also laughs when I get excited when we get good mileage. She also yells at me when we go on toad trips and I want to set the cruise at 68.. "The speed limit is 75! You can set it on 80 and be done with it!" Lol Anyway, I'm going to keep an eye through fuelly. I have been myself.. If you look in my glove box you'll find recipts with miles and mpg written on all of them. It just seemed to me that whenever I put a new air filter in, it would fake me out and give me great mileage. I'm going to try the o2 sensor next. It makes a bit of sense about what it's doing. -Justin

Yea, I now that works that way.. Eventually I was thinking of making a cold air box for it. I did get the nose of the filter into the air duct so it'll pull more from there.. It is a ej22 automatic with the awd works. I realize that different people have views of these filters. But I would think that if I got 24ish mpg, if I were to continue driving the same way, I should get somewhere near the same right? It seems do do this with any filter I put in. I get great mileage with the first full tank after installing, then **ppft** back down to 20/21ish.. -Justin

So, I'm pretty sure my car is faking me out with MPG. Every time i put a new air filter in, I get awesome mileage. I'll get 20.. 21ish MPG, put a new filter in and get about 22,23ish. Not a huge jump, but still an improvement. So, to attempt to help the situation, I installed an after market "high-flow" air filter, and the first complete tank of gas i got almost 24MPG out of it - mixed driving, mostly stop/go city (I drive all over repairing copiers). My driving habits havent changed.. I feather-hypermile the throttle like crazy. Is there such thing as too much hypermiling? I have been babying the throttle a lot more to get every bit more of mileage i can get.. is it too much? I thought, maybe I'm crazy, so I started tracking my mileage last month on fuelly. It doesnt reflect my fillups with the older "stock" filters. I filled my tank again just tonight.. Its the first full tank after my last full tank which i got almost 24mpg. Maybe I'm trying too hard and its working harder to run?? my fuelly acct: http://www.fuelly.com/driver/crazyman03/impreza My air filter: Ideas? -Justin

So with the dry weather we're having around here.. Its either going to be a very dry winter or its going to dump. Since I haven't gotten around to figuring out I went to put the drive shaft in and, well, I'm a dork - I cant believe I missed this. There's a little divot in the drive shaft. Likley either I hit it hard enough it caused it itself, or sent the shaft upward to a support stamping the divot into it. basically, i've been driving around in FWD mode because I'm lazy and haven't had time to figure it out when it was staring at me the whole time. -Justin

.. IIRC, the RED/GRN wire is a constant +12 volt. So, if your problem is that your radio isnt remembering anything (bad clock, no presets, etc) then thats you're problem right there - You've got your wires backwards. There's a little yellow/blue wire (it usually falls down back and is on the right dont quote me on the colors because its been a while). It has a plug that you might've likley overlooked... THATS your switched power. again, use a DMM to verify your power.. -Justin

http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/stereodetail/1987.html I'd just wire it directly to the battery - it'd save you a TON of headache. There isnt anything special about the wire. Usually, the stereo has a fuse built into it, if not (or just to be safe anyway), buy a "inline" fuse with at least a 10-15a fuse in it. Then just run the wire to either the battery, or there's a white 8ga(ish) wire @ the key that is constant - Its thick gauge so you'll either need to find a big wire tap clip, or figure something out. Remember, verify your wires before tapping! -Justin

Update, Well, I re-inspected the wires and found nothing new. I even replaced the spark plugs to the "OEM" champion double plat.'s nothing new; even pulled the entire harness out to check... Took it to another shop, varified that the PCM is bad again. and ended up taking it back to the origional shop and had the PCM warrantied. Well. Picked the car up last night - So far, so good. they replace the PCM again.. aparently, they got a hellova deal on the PCM I also decided to clean the inside. it pisses me off but, still such a slick car Next on the agenda, getting a drop down LCD for the back seat. I found how to splice into the video out of the 6disc changer to do video.. might do some creative splooging there.. -Justin -

Uuh. 1), I. Am. Never. Buying. A-car from. Drive time ever again! 2) ........ Or another Chrysler.. That aside. Drive time now wants the shop, the same shop that I had it at originally, to do everything they did the first time again before they'll warranty the pcm again. 250 out of pocket potentially.. Ugh.. -Justin -

no.. not shielded. I took it to another shop to diagnose it back to a PCM problem. they agreed and now I'm taking it back to the first shop to get it warrantied.. hopefully it fixes the problem, otherwise I'm taking the car back to the dealer :-/ -Justin -

Welp, pulled the harness out.. I went through every stinking wire on it and there arent any more breaks. Put it back in and got a p0355 - coil #5 error. for some odd reason I thought to put one of my original spark plugs in and the problem went away.......... ....away to cyl 6. I thought, well crap.. switch the spark plugs back to "OEM" which are champion double platinum. (which are GREAT lawn mower spark plugs).. problem stayed at #6. I drove the car to another shop to see if they'd look at it. if this shop cant fix it, I'm taking it back to the dealer. which brings me to my next topic. Anyone know of any cheap late 80's early 90's GL's? or maybe a 94ish impy? pictures: -Justin
