What you do is your biz but you can do all you mentioned and it's still an old Subaru that won't beat much of anything from the stoplight. Your greatest satisfaction will be when a few years from now you've grown with the car some and you'll see it as an accomplishment just having saved it. Gas isn't getting cheaper. You've got a good sipper there. Why make it guzzle only to be blown off by an 80's Honda with primered fenders?

Did you know he's selling 360 parts on eBay? ...... Danny, Sorry Andrew didn't get the manual to you in time. I see he copied me and sent it to me as well. Between his and the rest I'm guessing you're covered for now. Had a lot going on last 48 hours but all settled. I'll be talking to you soon. Infact if you have time to chat when you get up try me up until around 5:30am.

Going to look at a '79 DL on Saturday
moosens replied to sjschlag's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
What you might want to do is carefully undo the fuel lines and drop the tank. If you live where you get frost and want the tank to last another 20+ years then you might want to do this once and pay a little more. Have it sealed and lined - good for three decades and then some if you clean the area well and garage the car or park it protected and NOT OVER DIRT. See that rust you mentioned? It'll turn really bad really fast if you park it over soil or where it can't drain and dry properly. Good luck with it ! -
Got your message , sorry for bad timing to talk. I'll try but I don't think I can get my hands on mine very soon. "wagonsonly" Andrew might have one. I'll pass along an alert to him via text. ...just sent. I'll check ebay in a few to see your message ,but hopefully we can help you out ASAP. Is Ed Parsil still around at the 360 owners club? He'd have it for sure. Infact I paid him for a copy only to have one show up in our stash at the END of the box opening.

Wow , that's a real 43K car !!! Take extremely good care of the decal on the driver's door. Use water only to clean it and don't even look at it the wrong way. That , and the pedals and carpet are a dead give away you've got a true low mileage car. If that turned over I'd be thinking the original owner was a meticulous one. Yes , the body will suffer if left to sit outside , especially over dirt. But yours looks like an extremely nice base to work with. You've done well ! Start with Danny W in TN - goes by "drivesubies" here and on eBay as "dannybreadman". He has a lot of new old stock. If I can get him to get parts out "ctsuba" Charlie has some of his and my old 70's parts including some solid exhaust. Wheels we have. Tires are 155/80 R13 and are tough to find but not impossible. Also fit toyota Tercel among a few others. If you shop with guys like Danny and other board members you can probably have that car in great running shape and able to get through inspection for under $3K , maybe lots less. Price isn't bad but of course we'd all work on it a little. See what you can do. Good luck !! -
78 Subaru Wagon Interior Beginnings
moosens replied to Sub78's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Best way , and don't be afraid , is to take the dashboard out and the cowl off outside. Park facing the sun and you can see spots (holes) looking from the interior towards the engine bay. Heater core time too. Install fresh lines and consider a flush out adapter inline on the heater return hose. -
78 Subaru Wagon Interior Beginnings

Leaks are common from the windshield and under the cowl going into the firewall. Forget stock interior. Too much effort to make perfect and for what? Only a handful of us care about stock vintage anymore. Ain't gonna happen for most of us. Main gig is keeping the body rolling and enjoying all the looks and smiles you get. Good luck on it. -
That dash had thrilled thousands of viewers and the guy who deserves all the credit it CTSUBA - Charlie !!!! Nobody but no frikkin body had one and now it's been passed along and it's legend grows as faces glow ! Charlie , somebody does give a crap!!! You're the best !!!! Earl , complete the circle and finish that resto the drive it east. We'll meet you at Subaru headquarters in NJ

Well, it does happen believe it or not. The remarkably reliable 1600 can throw a rod , etc. Personally I'd throw another 1600 in there as the car is all set up for one. Be sure to not get the last revision of the 1600 which is called a wide case. Look for dead top starter position if bellhousing is attached. Otherwise maybe someone can help with engine stamp numbers and production ends/beginnings if needed. I watched that auction twice. Yes, save the car! looks worth the effort now that the price is beautiful. Some of us have 1600's and maybe Danny in tn has a new one for you. Factory manuals are cheap and plentiful. I suggest either a 1976 or 77 and even the early 78's. We'll help you out. And if you ever tire of the car I'm sure you'll find a good owner here like the nice lady did. Congrats and good luck ...... Go git 'er !!!

That was THE dash from Charlie. I held that dash overhead roaring in delight. The magic is yours now. Use it well my friend. So that dash went from CT to TN to OR .... Reuse , Recycle !! But Restore that old Subaru Coupe !! Enjoy the heck out of that puppy and keep it well. Now very soon it is time to get very serious about seats , stage one parts , and my storage !! Massive snow being washed away now. We'll talk soon.

Score of the year ! You mean dash was like you see if when found or you got it re-done? Makes you smile , huh?

Carlisle Import Meet 2013
moosens replied to nipper's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Winter thought says it is a possibility. Third weekend in May. Seems so far from third weekend in FebRUary. But it comes up so fast you never have time to prep. like you'd hoped to all winter. -
Stage two refers to the change in bodywork midway thru the 1977 m/y. So the '78 and '79's got tagged Stage two's as well basically. Stage one refers to the cars not ff-1's built from 1972 thru mid 1977, Now , for laughs - the 1973 cars or for certain the Coupe , came in THREE stages that year only. Don't let that confuse matters.

TDC needed for Engine removal?
moosens replied to Dinky26's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I completely understand taking it out to work on. Get the rear main too. Clutch time? Enjoy! Hey I have a new water pump for sale if that helps. -
Glad you guys got together. I'm sure he can sell his stuff well enough but I'll play sales dept. here and let you know he has some EA81's sitting there , plenty of trim for 1980-84 and Gen II BRAT , some decent seats ..... Would have been nice to have people there when it was in the early stages of this move but if its still good Charlie will move it over to his next location. z - I hope to see you there. Enjoy !

Probably still has loose doors. I'll be there in a few hours. He probably doesn't want to bother unless you're driving there to pick one up. Shipping at this point will likely have to wait. It's a small tornado of affairs now. Looking at other location , trying to keep money coming in through repairs , and of course the very physical end of things with the move.
