  1. Yeah make arrangement once you have the glass in your hands. Tell the guy you'll have the old glass out and like Miles said but maybe go the whole way since its just using a scraper and being careful to remove all the trim first. You've got a spot of rust on one of those legs , don't you? I seem to remember one little spot happening. You want to get that nice and flat. Little topcoat and a sanding block. So maybe even get that glass out the day before and make sure the windshield's seat will be clean and flat with no rust bubbles ,etc. Things you do to save dough. Good luck. Oh , there's cut resistant gloves out there , worth the investment for all sorts of use.
  2. OK . stopping in quick while home. Speak , tell , talk .... is the cam in my "M" engine HOT ?? What's in an "M" ? I really need to go over timing ,etc. I rushed a bit to get it off the rental property before they raise the rent. First ran smooth , then shut it off and it ran choppy when restarted. I moved the disty around to find hapiness but had no time to properly check timing. Also need to go over the valve adjutments - no biggie Jesse. If I didn't know how off the timing is ,etc. etc. I'd say it has a lumpy cam. :-p
  3. Moderator , please lock this thread. Sorry guys but I no longer have time to take new requests. I'm busting butt to get stuff out these next couple of weekends for folks who've waited since this post was started. As for the Coupe , see "drivesubies" for '72-73 Coupe anything.
  4. Impressive!!! Will get back to this when not at work. Need cold shower now. Can you find cam specs?
  5. Snow Shark is back on the road. Fine tuning due , list of wanna doo's before the ice and snow kicks in. Otherwise , I'mmmmmmm baaaaaaaack.
  6. Anybody else beside Todd have an EA71 block with the letter "M" at the end of the ID number ? Mine is something like 47200M - yes a very even number that also caught my eye , but Todd's is from the same source and his is a random bunch of numbers. Anyways ..... Mine is a narrow case , external water passage engine. Pretty sure Todd's is too. Any idea what this code might mean? These blocks came from SOA's main joint in south Jersey.
  7. Sounds right , thanks! I've got to add a spring to mine.
  8. Line is from Second City TV , back when tv had cool moments to it. OK here's the story. Again , yeah I know.... Meet up with a Ferrari a couple of Lotus cars , and my friend and his dad in his dad's '53 MGTD restored - perfect car - but with the old fellow driving it was undoubtedly the slowest car in the group. My '78 Subaru was a rat box but I was going anyway. Destination was Caffeine and Carbs in New Canaan CT. See my post about the end of the year meet and see exotica on the streets. Anyhow , we take off from our meeting spot and head south on the Merrit Parkway. Going up the big hill into "no man's land" its a 3rd gear run and I was hammering it. First victim was the MG , next some family cars. Felt great , although my head was a bit in the fog from lack of coffee and my continued poor sleep. So I got to the top of the hill where it levels off and the engine is still singing. Suddenly I head engine noise , stuff going looesy goosey , clickatyclackety .... and at that time I look down and see I'm still in 3rd gear. Not even attempting to catch fourth quickly could save the beast. Threw the clutch in and rode it off onto the grass. There goes the MG , quickly wave them onward as they pass. Now its time to do the engine swap since the engine would not budge either direction. "Subafreak" - comes through with HUGE help. Here's what we found. Caused by and this .... Number one , your DONE !!!! Couple of shots of my hero. Su Ba Freak !!!!
  9. Have to generally agree but offer a different opinion on top speed. Mine is a '78 4WD wagon with all the A/C stuff still in place. Wife calls on the cell phone from her Legacy on the way back from Carlisle - Import Kit/Replicar Show and says "I'm doing 90 and I'm loosing you". I'd say they top off around 92-4 MPH with the proper tune up , tire pressure , and driver.
  10. Look at my last post again. :-p The clutch return helper spring - which is quite long - extends from that hole on the clutch fork to a raised tab on the far left side end of the intake manifold. The spring on the cable insulation patch hangs somewhere I can't recall right now. But its function is to keep the cable from rubbing on the steering column.
  11. Meant to assist that rubber patch from rubbing the cable on the steering column. Have to check where my spring was. I have everything undone and ready to do and engine and tranny swap. I'll check my car later or Friday. You also have a clutch return assisting spring too , right? That one is about 8 inches long and goes from the intake ,far end holder tab to the clutch fork.
  12. Looks like its not a seperate part from the manual. Buried away I've got some arms ,etc. , so probably another member here has them too but accessible.
  13. Making out his list for Santa ???? 1915 Harley that just last year rode across the country in the Cannonball.
  14. http://www.caffeineandcarburetors.com/ Update to photos coming in a bit. Today there was an estimated $500 million in cars and motorcycles on the streets of New Canaan CT. Maybe a little high but certainly a couple hundred million worth for sure. Forget the old pics on the website , check back when today's pics are uploaded. Or check the NewCanaan Patch http://newcanaan.patch.com/ - also waiting to update pics/story as of right now. That's the Ferrari tranposter for "Corse Clienti" in the background. They brought some serious weaponry. If you see this now , check those links later. You're going to be amazed.
  15. Nice Job on the pics and NICE SCORE !!! Feels good, I know...... Enjoy !!!
  16. Tommy , no sweat , you don't have to apologize , I'm just breakin balls. Go aheds and take care of the guy 'cause I can't seem to get to my storage to save my life.
  17. OK you do that and when Tommy the hijacker is done taking care of you contact me. just breaking yur balls , Tommy. Go ahead and take care of this guy because I don't have handy any of that stuff you do. bob - I do have at least one new bumper and probably one good used. But its way in the back of my cramped storage unit. I'll do my best but its getting cold here already.
  18. It's what I live for , Tommy. :-p Sure thing. Hang tight everybody. Big day of repair up at the storage unit this coming weekend. If I find time during the week I'll get what I can going. Cheers!
  19. Fenders I've got but large items will certainly take me some time to get to. The valance - oh yeah , you betcha I know what that is.Infact I just scored one from eBay for my '4WD wagon. I think "drivesubies" has one or more but I couldn't wait because this was the first one I'd seen NOS in about 11 or so years of looking. handlebars for jumpseats - you'd probably have to score a set of seats from me and remove them, but let me see what's there next trip into the back of the storage unit.
