Aww man , I was hoping on seeing stuff popping out of the hood , car snorting like a bull , that sort of thing. -

Idealy - have a glass hood laid up and cut out for the stacks , make a scoop. Sounds like a lot and its not cheap but possibly worth investigating given the need for work in many shops these days. I'm thinking around $300 - 400 gets you the hood ready for you to do the rest and paint. That's a hood blank , you'd apply hinges ,etc. Just a thought. You're going to be sporting a semi hotted up rig (compared to stock) , a little extra mustard on it would look pretty cool. Good luck and of course we're all behind you on this. -

FedEx Ground - much better. Mark , there's a few of us with those trunk lids out there. Between Subaru3 , drivesubies , ctsuba , and wagonsonly .... and myself , there's probably another half dozen out there. -
Whoa ! It's not only super dry in the spare well it even dried up the 2 inches that was in the driver's side "jackstand/water bottle" well. No drain hole there so it must have evaporated with the sun's heat. So I must have gotten it with the last dab of sealer I used on that bumper stud hole. I was expecting to at least see water there that I'd left the other day. We had a blast of a storm last night so if it didn't get wet last night I should be good to go. - I hope.

Thanks! I had it shipped from Idaho. -
Roof rack - yes. Checked it pretty good and no trace of water running down a window , etc. I dd a hose down with the panel off on that side and saw nothing but for what I mentioned where the bumper wraps around and bolts onto the rear quarter. Might be that I just didn't see something but the roof rack was my first thouht too. The water consistantly comes in from the same corner so if it were the rack I'd guess its that left rear mounting base. Here's one for laughs - just 5 months ago. Yeeeooooww!! Anyhow , I was looking for a pic of my car with the rack but I don't have a good one handy. I'm wondering if that left rear mount is really that far back and that far to the side that the water would only go to that corner.Ceiling liner looks fine - no water spots - just well abused from ladders ,etc. No rust around the glass. All seals look fine.

Taking on water. Looks like left side. Tail light (left) I sealed like a madman. Did it a second time and water tested it. All looked good but I could see one tiny hole where the bumper side (wrap around) anchors into the rear quarter panel. That hole comes into the car jack/washer fluid bottle well directly. To me this this looked like too small of a leak to take on so much water. Anyone else have such an issue? Water after strong rain equals about 2-3 inches in the jack well and about the same in the spare tire well. It manages to get into the rearmost portion of the "tool/junk tray" that sits over the spare tire. Checked the hatch door seal and all over pretty good. Next thing I do if no answer here is to take all the panels off and lay in the back while somebody hoses it down. Thanks for any help.

Need help with 81 brat struts
moosens replied to 81 brat's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Hunting season for you. This happens often. People order rear struts and for Gen I and get Gen II. I could be wrong but that's my guess , that you got 2nd Gen. They were just on eBay not long ago if that helps. :-\ Hey , that's not Brownsville up here near NYC is it? -

He had a few other Subarus but the one I was there for was a '79 wagon. You might be right though. I think he mentioned a Loyale wagon. I could see where he'd be a roll down window DL guy like me. His gig was he'd go to the yards and make them GL's for cheap. Great guy that I was lucky to cross paths with. -

Oh yeah , the CT Subie thing ... kinda forgot about it but I'll check back there. Be sure to look over Mike in PA's thread that I gave the link to. You're going to be doing much the same if you really want to get a few years out of it. -

I don't know what the hell is going on here and have not read a single post here but just wanted to jump in with a quick story about the Alliance. BTW , from quick glance looks like you guys are having fun here. Love the rust ! So .... I'm parting out this '79 4WD wagon here recenty. Certainly going to be the last one around here along the shore. Only reason the car is still here is because the prev. owner is an engineer where I work and is a real hustler and general DIY guy. He's spend the time finding the parts at yards ,internet , etc. and even found a source with the Alliance !! That's right, I have a package from some town in WI that starts with W ...Wau ...something.... from "The Subaru Alliance". So yuze feeekin guyz helped string that old wagon along untill it found me !!! Right on Mo Fo's !!! You guys took care of me in the long run. Thanks! and happy motoring ! Cheers! -

Was this a California car? I wish I could scan easily :-\ I'd post what I have for factory diagrams. Should be other here with the same - hopefully. -
Want to try to gather the dinosaurs sometime - maybe this fall? If not , then maybe consider next year? Thinking anything pre - Legacy/Impreza. Sound good ?? From PA to ME we have hundreds of vintage Subaru owners with everything from 360's to XT's and RX's , Gen II BRATs , GL/DL/Loyales .... all due respect for still being in existence. Condition not important. Plenty of nice State Parks ,etc. to meet at. Bear Mtn. in NY comes to mind as a good central point. Possibly northwest NJ? Delaware Water Gap. Of course , if the near impossible happened and we snotty east coast people got together and functioned as a group we might even consider moving an event like this around and meeting at places more geared toward a VACATION / weekend getaway so those who accompany us won't have to suffer so bad. Thoughts? Let's face it , Carlisle isn't for us - so much.
