Documented: The 1970 FF-1 Project car...
moosens replied to Kostamojen's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
It's still a dry run isn't it? Swap that pan now and be happy about doing it. -
Better use that discount to make up for the paycheck those dealers give out. sorry , had to. Note to self - keep Paul on "the list".
-
Sure it is ...now git to makin' it a GSR Seriously, please explore putting the earlier grill from the Coupe or 4WD wagons. Round orange lights ....mmmmmm Let me know what parts I can take forever to get to you.

Supposedly Andrew - wagonsonly - and , Charlie - ctsuba , are going. If they do there's a good chance I'll run down there too , but no promises. -
Introduction and brat question
moosens replied to Lachlan's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
That's right. Good luck with it! You have what I consider the most desrirable Gen I Subaru - Brat anyways. Toss up between that and a Coupe for top dog overall vintage Subaru for me. But in general the Brat is most known and therefore most desired by the masses. And the '81 is one of a kind! -
No sweat Earl, and totally my fault. Good luck with this one. Going to be a winner , I'm sure. Can't go wrong with those body styles.

Nice! Pretty sure with very little mod you can get the front grill from an early Coupe or Stage I 4WD grill to work , which has the round orange lights and super***************in look in general compared to the '74-77 Stage I squareness. I'm glad you're going to make a mold for that Kamei. It kills me to have mine and not have a space to work in that'll allow me to go to town. I cut prepreg all night long. Uni , woven , glass , E-glass , etc.... This one desreves the nose job. Hey , you still want all that crap I was/am still putting together? - lights , tail light .... ?? Cheers!

Where did they mount? Would love to see them. Did they also make any for the otherwise front drum 1970's cars? Here that means up to the Stage I 1400's - say around 1974 or so - after the ff-1 series. I've got to guess that those early factory or semi-factory rally teams had them. -
Yes , sorry but I've had no time for storage. I'll be getting to all that stuff on Tuesday and will post back. Meanwhile please use moosens@yahoo.com to get me. thanks,
Paul

Gotta guess it to be something like a warning buzzer , or seatbelt timer.

Unfortunately its 2001 and you got a deal !! :-\ Prices of used cars are outrageous for the most part. The old $500 beater is just about impossible to find - although I got lucky last year. -

still no pics ???? why am I looking back here again?? -
Nice project! Be thankful it could be a lot worse. Your wheel aprons look good. I'll probably be replacing at least one of mine when the time comes. As for your Q's , 1st pic is a broken wire hold down. That holds the oil sending unit line you have right there next to it. 2nd pic , "stove pipe" which would have a paper/foil-esque tube going from that up to the air filter box under the "nose". You can get by w/o it but it helps to have it working in the winter. (carb. warmer) 3rd , Broken radiator drain plug. Temp. sensor also in pic - has one wire lead - clean that sucker up with some 0000 steel wool and it'll last another 30 years, well , maybe.... 4th , Crossmember not in ???? Those should be your crossmember bolts holding your wad (engine and tranny) .... hmmmm , ok , I see it now , you got the engine on the ground .... 5th , battery box is like many get even where there's no rust - sort of. Cut and paste. Toughest part for you probably , but again be thankful for that . Have fun! You're doing plenty fine enough for making it functional and enjoyable again. Cheers!
