  1. Unfortunately its 2001 and you got a deal !! :-\ Prices of used cars are outrageous for the most part. The old $500 beater is just about impossible to find - although I got lucky last year.
  2. Nice score Tony ! Wouldn't mind a couple of those. Finder's Fee paid ! Good to see you around here still. Enjoy that ride!
  3. Call whenever you need to. I know your hours so if you see this later today and want to try me I'll probably be awake.
  4. No , I was right. Check back a few posts.
  5. Oh wait , I've got sixteen other topics to bring up ....
  6. What?? LB had kittens ??? Congrats!! Gonna talk to the bumper guy soon ..... email going out now.
  7. still no pics ???? why am I looking back here again??
  8. Nice project! Be thankful it could be a lot worse. Your wheel aprons look good. I'll probably be replacing at least one of mine when the time comes. As for your Q's , 1st pic is a broken wire hold down. That holds the oil sending unit line you have right there next to it. 2nd pic , "stove pipe" which would have a paper/foil-esque tube going from that up to the air filter box under the "nose". You can get by w/o it but it helps to have it working in the winter. (carb. warmer) 3rd , Broken radiator drain plug. Temp. sensor also in pic - has one wire lead - clean that sucker up with some 0000 steel wool and it'll last another 30 years, well , maybe.... 4th , Crossmember not in ???? Those should be your crossmember bolts holding your wad (engine and tranny) .... hmmmm , ok , I see it now , you got the engine on the ground .... 5th , battery box is like many get even where there's no rust - sort of. Cut and paste. Toughest part for you probably , but again be thankful for that . Have fun! You're doing plenty fine enough for making it functional and enjoyable again. Cheers!
  9. yummy ! Check out that wood steering wheel on the ff-1 ? mmmmmm
  10. Nice !!! Congrats !! Patience paid off , eh??? And you still probably don't have $4K into it ..... or do you? Umm , hate to bring up this subject but - alarm??? Looking too damn good now. Seriously,FL ain't much different than this area. Go Tommy! Man I hope you don't take that thing to gigs. I know you'd like to but I'd think twice about it.
  11. Nobody's asked for pics yet ???? Good luck with the club.
  12. Great, make it as difficult as possible. Mother's Day? I wuv my mom ... and my kids wuv thier mom. And we all wuv each other ..... Just saying it'd be probaby the most difficult day to get a breakaway window of time sufficient for partying mode. If you guys really need that date I'll probably have to swing up late like around 7PM or so. :-\
  13. Glad to hear. Did you get that little cube that fits on your ratchet extention? Those are cheap and work fine for me.
  14. You're right , I thought about that after I posted. Pop out rear windows. Several of us have that trunk lid if you need a fresh one. I've also got a lot of really good used parts that would help.
  15. Replied to you. Yes , just like the old lady car I had with 56k miles. Except you guys have those beautiful bumpers and dual headlights that we didn't get here. :-\ Nice snag!!
  16. Its a 1974 Coupe - or was. That rear spoiler thing is custom made from a late 80's/early 90's RS or RX tail piece. Pretty cool in thought , probably would have been fun to fart around in back in the early 80's (before he found the rear "wing") if he completed it. If you need parts for it I'm your man. If it has a working AM/FM or better - with cassette - that's a pain to find. Judging from that instrument mounted on the dash the radio is probably long gone. Have fun!
  17. SOB MF !! Good luck , again.... :-\ Well , glad its here.
  18. They're out there .... just have to hunt around. Ball joints are plentiful. Tie rod ends - fairly plentiful. Those rear shocks - less plentiful :-\ ... but you'll score soon. I've got a set that I bought from eBay about a decade ago that I'm hoping aren't bad from sitting for 20+ years. Please post any results on shocks. Thanks and good luck.
  19. At first you might think you can't find much for parts but trust me you can find plenty to keep this car moving along. There are complete gasket/seal kits still on eBay ,etc.. Is that what you mean by "parts shock" ? I have some gasket sets but none for sale right now. There's still plenty of good used parts out there and even some New Old Stock from a few people. I've got some , "drivesubies" has tons but hasn't gotten his stock quite organized just yet but he's working on it and can probably supply plenty in the meantime. At least you're in a '79 so that makes it a bit easier to maintain being e'tron ignition. Are you going to need a mechanic for most services? Anything you feel comfortable doing on your own?
