  1. Best to use an engine crane. No friend's with one around? I picked mine up on sale at like PoopBoys for $119. Saw them even lower than that once on Sale for $89 !!! Jacking will do but you'll need a couple of blocks of wood under the heads to rest it back down on and I really can't verify that you'll get the oil pan off and out that way since I've always picked the engine right out and worked on it that way. Yes ,one nut removed from each side. Mounts stay attatched and lift up. If you don't have the $ for the engine crane , one guy on each side and you lift it right out. But you'll be needing to jack the tranny slightly along with a second jack. Cheap way - use one jack under the pan with wood so you don't hurt the pan. Second jack under tranny to support it when you go to seperate the engine from tranny. 4 nuts on flywheel , leave the intake on just disconnect the fuel line and throttle cable. REmove the radiator first , it gives you more room. And always disconnect the battery -first. When its time to part the two use a putty knife ,then thin flathead screwdirver. There's dowel pins that often like to stick. They should stay inserted into either side ,usually the engine side. Go at it,you'll do fine and anything not mentioned will become obvious and easy enough to deal with. Keep that tranny at the height required to seperate the two which is when the motor mounts clear the bracket by about an inch. When you put them back together have that buddy again and carefully align the shaft of the tranny without stressing weight on it. A little jostling sometimes but the dowels will eventually align and you push the engine back onto the tranny ,throw at least a couple of the nuts back on and get them closed up to each other before resting the engine and tranny back down into the brackets while guiding the motor mount stud in....we've all done it ,you'll be fine. Good luck.
  2. OK that was a little crude , but you laughed Edited out of kindness... ..not because they told me to. WTF ? that few two wheel people here??????
  3. http://rally-america.com/rallycross.php Geez ,where have I been? Thanks to my son for telling me about **** EUROPEAN STYLE R/X ***** Travis Pastrana and the gang coming. NJMP in Milleville ,NJ We MIGHT go but really can't be sure. Sunday is the main event day. Might try to make it. There'll be 3 events here on our coast and 3 on "their coast". For you east coast folks the later dates are in Oct. and Nov. No time to add links now - use Google. Cheers! ....I'm doing my joker lap right now
  4. Valve covers - which are actually rocker covers (don't worry I say Valve too) they're a piece of cake - a few minutes each with the exception of possible having to scrape the old ones out a bit. Oil pan count on a good half hour AFTER you've spent the time lifting ,etc. Plenty of gaskets out there. Good luck. Oh , do the oil pump too ... And inspect the head gaskets for leakage too. When they sit a LONG time they can soak thru.
  5. no bulge - 1600 The other one has to be 1800. Measure them flanges across? 1800 will be a little wider. Bad week for money but I wouldn't let that 1600 pipe go for any less than $100 ..... maybe if you eBay it start there and let it roll. Might fetch a solid $200 if the right owner shows up. Good luck.
  6. Make me jealous ,go ahead. If you don't know what I'm talking about you STINK. No offense to those who do STINK. Nicky - bad wrist. Spies - might be his first win. Edwards - ridiculous interview which should cause him to loose his job - which he desrves anyways - never should have been in this class this long. Don't know these guys? Go scratch.
  7. ...well , it WAS a picture posting thread stop whining and post more pics!
  8. Aircraft guys. EAA is it? http://www.eaa.org/ Looks like you need to join to find Classifieds. Good luck. I'm sure there's a couple other places you might do well hunting at.
  9. eBay. One seller had remans for the price of dirt. Or send yours out for about $45 plus shipping but you're going to get the same deal in the remans and the current seller was blowing them out for like $30 or so ! WHOA!!!! look at the price now! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1977-78-79-SUBARU-1600-DL-GF-BRAT-1-6-REMAN-DISTRIBUTOR-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQitemZ350220572063QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories I've already gotten mine - paid a few bucks more but I ain't cryin' over it. Good luck,Bobby. Edit - just noticed after posting that this is for a Calif. MT but look thru their stock or contact them. I got one for 4WD - 49 States - non Calif. and I'm sure you'll score one too. That Calif. model is e'tron - no points.
  10. Yikes, well if I had another 1400 I'd throw it to you. We'll have to see what we can do. Maybe Charlie has something to use for now.
  11. Yeah , we'll have to make a date that doesn't get cancelled. Wouldn't have been fair to anyone THIS TIME to have to hang around while my son and I did our thing with hunting critters and all. Very limited time and it was during the day when most folks would be working. But , we're heading back on Labor Day weekend for the AMA Roadrace series at Millville. AND , we're willing to make a run in the fall too.
  12. Fred, Sorry for the lack of a call. My son and I hit the Barrens yesterday on his quest for lizards and cool treefrogs ,etc.... Didn't really want to drag anyone else into that kind of detail. We ended up doing over 150 miles in the Barrens !!! All in our FWD '92 Legacy. I noticed "All We'll Drive" looks to be closed up. Sorry to see that. Thursday , Saltwater fishing in the AM , boardwalk at night. Friday we're going to try to get more time in the Barrens. I'll call you if you look to have time for a good run. Otherwise ,we're BACK THERE for the Superbike Races at Millville in a couple of weeks. That'll be another night of camping in the Barrens and a good run down the trails for sure. http://amaproracing.com/rr/events/event.cfm?year=2010&eid=2010011045
  13. Oh well , all's good to go ... see you guys next week. Fred , I'll call you sometime soon. Not going in the woods today , so it seems.
  14. We'll be in the region. Looking to maybe meet up with somebody who has 4WD and wants to USE IT Saturday to Saturday starting tomorrow. We'll be in my FWD wagon , sticking to the main trail (from the ranger station on Rt.206 thru to Batsto Village) unless we have assistance along -meaning YOU. Fred from NJ lives not far. He's in my phone directory and I'll be calling him when we see our opportunities. If you want to join in send a PM to me with your number and I'll reply with mine. I'll check later today and tomorrow AM then ..... Going to want to hit the waves MUCH but my son and I will be camping in the dead of the Barrens on at least a few nights so we'll be up for wheeling on those evenings and following mornings. We'll have to call to verify but count on us going in the woods several day of the week.
  15. PM'd you. BTW you can listen to the Vibes concert on WPKN 89.5 FM and WPKN.ORG
  16. Lots of choices. This time of the year they clip you for entrance fees. Bridgeport has the finest beach - but the Gathering of the Vibes Concert is this weekend at Seaside Park.. Super fine white sand unlike the rest of the coastline - (Sherwood Is. is rOcKy!! ) IF you do choose Seaside Park in Bridgeport you'll be able to stay clear of the concert itself but you might find a few concert goers over at the far west end because they're setting up a camping are there. Otherwise take exit 26 Wordin Ave. Go striaght along the highway and oil tanks, come to Iranistan Ave. and take a Right , just a few feet to a Right at the light onto South Ave. , go to the end - pass Sikorsky Aircraft , where I work , road takes a left around our facility and at the stop sign it'll be obvious - but you go RIGHT toward the best beach area which will NOT be closed off like the rest of the park. I took my kids there yesterday and we had a BLAST. Concert begins Thursday and it should still be fairly quiet. They don't start fillnig the joint untill Thursday night/Friday. Luckily there's no particular big draw act on Thursday afternoon. Gotta move along , talk to you soon...
  17. So what would you pay if it didn't land on your lap? I've got a d/c set-up here.
  18. WCBS 880AM radio as you come thru Jersey. Traffic every ten minutes on the "8 's" That time of the day you're ok going over the GWB - assuming you're talking about 1-2 in the afternoon. After 3PM if you're not near the GWB then hit 287. I-80 heading east shouldn't be an issue that time of day. Coming up I-95 you never know but again if you make up towards the GWB before 3 you're doing ok. You want to listen for any delays on the Cross Bronx Expressway too. Usually that means GWB traffic too. Avoid all that using 287 if needed. I'd do a stop over at Sherwood Is. if you want to avoid sitting in traffic around 3:30PM to 6:30PM. No concessions there so grab food elsewhere. Life is a bit expensive in those towns but along Rt.1 you'll find decent food for under $15/adult. Maine - I'll check back with you later ...
  19. Stopped home ... incase you're reading this on Saturday morning ...so I'll see you very soon. Nice frikkin job !!!!!!
  20. looks like the first 16 people looked again. Wow , 32 lookers and NO HOOKERS !!!! Yeah , we're all toooooooo busy , I hear ya ...
