Front hubs and disk upgrade for 1400 Coupe

Curious about the vented disks too. As for pads the EA63/71 is different over here. -
Trying Again.. New Motor In LB the Coupe
moosens replied to Bucky92's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I know on the EA71 the flywheel bolts to the crankshaft end which is a seperate disk w/timing gear and the bolt holes do show as going though and appearing over the teeth of the gear. So,I'd say YES cautiously. Gotta think the EA81 is the same w/timing gear. Good luck. Boun appetito ! -
Sent PM Hope I made it in time. Have a good time.

OK so I see the Aaron guys posting here....and you posting props.... now let loose with a little Gen I rundown for us,would ya? With my schedule its tough to contact people during their normal hours of operation so any report would sure be appreciated. Cheers.

THe hotel scene isn't so bad around Carlsile. We had to stay in one a couple years back due to my son's alergies and damp weather up to Saturday afternoon ....when it cleared up nicely. We actually had no trouble finding a room last minute. * Cool to stay in a place where the lot is packed with European beauties. Tents are cheaper than the gas you'll use on the trip. Little pop-ups that take less than 2 minutes to erect are fairly inexpensive. We've done the back of the wagon thing too. It all works. Walking around on Saturday, meeting the USMB folks ....all worth the effort. -
enlighten me with knowledge of EA71 please?
moosens replied to zackdeha's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
There are 2 versions of the EA71 - keep that in mind always. Great engine, either one. 1st verse - called narrow case , has top starter all years. 2nd verse - called wide case or fat case , has top starter in early years ('79-81) You'll find the starter at driver's side upper begining around 1980 thru any 1600 for the USA onward - 1987?? or so. Chorus - like Sucker King said you'll have a great time. Personal opinion from many is that these were the best for reliability and simplicity. Enjoy! If you're not in a hurry wait on eBay and a factory manual will come around for $5 or so. Otherwise $20 ain't so bad either. -
Are you picking parts for folks? I'd throw you some good lunch/beer money for a few items. PM coming for kicks.

pulled a gen one from the grave
moosens replied to DaveAP's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Dave - congrats on the find! Hope all is well. You can use any regular old late 70's (Stage II) door handle on that t'gate. Carpet kit is on my list of "Group Buys". I hope we can find someone who'll pass along a discount for a basketful of orders. Still have some windshield gaskets here if needed. -

Strong feelings both ways my friend. My FWD gets used about 99% of the year. And I live in icy New England. -

ea71 intake bolts broke
moosens replied to mike20xdc's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
With all respect to Gary... Just drilling a hole helps. Lefty ,righty ,just drill a hole and then use the easy out if you haven't gone out to buy lefty drills. Drill hole, apply PB Blaster let sit a little, apply heat and your done before the other guy got to the store. Personally,I prefer Timeserts. I bought the kit and do not regret it at all. Better than Helicioil because now you can take that bolt out a dozen times if you need to and not have to re-tap etc. -

Hey new folks, There's a dedicated website invloved. http://www.carsatcarlisle.com/ce/events/import/ This event has run for many many years now. It's no big secret, there's not much mystery unless you look into that chili someone made.... To be part of the group there's no special talent needed other than going online and paying for your entry. Registration: http://store.carlisleevents.com/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=CE&Category_Code=CINI If you have an extra couple of bucks then please consider adding a second or third Subaru to your registry even if you can't bring that 2nd or 3rd car. It helps towards our needing 25 cars for the free tent....etc.. If money is too tight that's not a problem. Play the game as you need to. Some of us will pick up the slack. Look! We got mentioned !! Someone will have to call to find out the exact deadline. I looked and could not find it browsing around the Carlisle site. -

bratman18, Yow! Maine to Carlisle in 8 hours? Count on 10 and if you catch NYC traffic count on 11-13. Especially with kids and all you don't want to put the pedal to the metal.... I'll assist you with directions to avoid NYC if you need them. I'm not sure if you're planning to run down I-95 or across I-84,etc... Cool - I'm not redneck but you guys do accept Euro-trash,right? See you there - and damned if we're not on a grits kick right now. I think we've had them in about half of our meals this past week. Shhhoooooeeey boy!! Needs me a stalk o grass in my teeth - the few remaining that is. -
http://www.carsatcarlisle.com/ce/events/import/ Hey guys! I might do Carlisle this year. I'm not one of those reptile folks but we're planning on going to the Reptile/Amphibian show there on the same weekend. My son is really excited about the fact that both gigs are happening that weekend. Reptile show: http://www.centralpareptileexpo.com/ hsssssssssssssss Carlsile is a Meet - FUN -Non Judging -Show You don't need a creampuff car to be there. If it gets there under its own power that's good enough. We should be getting into town Friday night and doing the car show on Saturday. Saturday breakfast wherever - lunch at the Show - dinner wherever. Hotel/motel unless its just my son and I then we might camp. Car we'll bring -still not sure. '92 FWD or '92 AWD or '79 Brat or '78 4WD wagon.
