  1. That loud clicking sound was a simultaneous loading of our weapons. Pick on something more plentiful and more appropriate, please.
  2. Way to go Brad !! Happy New Year. Good to see you going strong on the Merkrat.
  3. Thread stays here as far as I'm concerned. I need a barn !
  4. You got the ff-1 from Liberty? Speculation - you mentioned liberty Dr.SUS ?? A Supercharged Subaru ?? Lifted beater ?? nail biter ..... Better be worth all the drama I thought that was a west coast thing "Secret Mobile" and all that crap..
  5. With all respect to Gary... Just drilling a hole helps. Lefty ,righty ,just drill a hole and then use the easy out if you haven't gone out to buy lefty drills. Drill hole, apply PB Blaster let sit a little, apply heat and your done before the other guy got to the store. Personally,I prefer Timeserts. I bought the kit and do not regret it at all. Better than Helicioil because now you can take that bolt out a dozen times if you need to and not have to re-tap etc.
  6. Get the extra space for camping. Don't sweat it,I'll cover it if nobody else kicks in by then.
  7. Hey new folks, There's a dedicated website invloved. http://www.carsatcarlisle.com/ce/events/import/ This event has run for many many years now. It's no big secret, there's not much mystery unless you look into that chili someone made.... To be part of the group there's no special talent needed other than going online and paying for your entry. Registration: http://store.carlisleevents.com/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=CE&Category_Code=CINI If you have an extra couple of bucks then please consider adding a second or third Subaru to your registry even if you can't bring that 2nd or 3rd car. It helps towards our needing 25 cars for the free tent....etc.. If money is too tight that's not a problem. Play the game as you need to. Some of us will pick up the slack. Look! We got mentioned !! Someone will have to call to find out the exact deadline. I looked and could not find it browsing around the Carlisle site.
  8. Doze friggin bastids !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Deadline is sometime in late April. One of us will find out and post. Meanwhile for complete details you can go to the Carlisle website.
  9. Discovering Gen I parts are you?? Cool,Mick. Be sure to add your list to the Wish List thread for that Brat of yours. I know there's a couple of us who take it serious.
  10. bratman18, Yow! Maine to Carlisle in 8 hours? Count on 10 and if you catch NYC traffic count on 11-13. Especially with kids and all you don't want to put the pedal to the metal.... I'll assist you with directions to avoid NYC if you need them. I'm not sure if you're planning to run down I-95 or across I-84,etc... Cool - I'm not redneck but you guys do accept Euro-trash,right? See you there - and damned if we're not on a grits kick right now. I think we've had them in about half of our meals this past week. Shhhoooooeeey boy!! Needs me a stalk o grass in my teeth - the few remaining that is.
  11. http://www.carsatcarlisle.com/ce/events/import/ Hey guys! I might do Carlisle this year. I'm not one of those reptile folks but we're planning on going to the Reptile/Amphibian show there on the same weekend. My son is really excited about the fact that both gigs are happening that weekend. Reptile show: http://www.centralpareptileexpo.com/ hsssssssssssssss Carlsile is a Meet - FUN -Non Judging -Show You don't need a creampuff car to be there. If it gets there under its own power that's good enough. We should be getting into town Friday night and doing the car show on Saturday. Saturday breakfast wherever - lunch at the Show - dinner wherever. Hotel/motel unless its just my son and I then we might camp. Car we'll bring -still not sure. '92 FWD or '92 AWD or '79 Brat or '78 4WD wagon.
  12. Nice selection of vehicles !!! You'll do fine.
  13. Not from me. That's happened before where a board member or two think the other person is taunting. Happened to me,gonna happen to you too. Let's get back to group buys of parts we all need. Yes,I mentioned fiberglass panels but only because it'll be easier to make glass panels than make them from sheetmetal. In this case something that seems more exotic actually isn't and is most likely the least expensive way to make a new fender, etc. That is if we get things moving and have one shop produce a batch. It'd be nice to have simple old sheetmetal but now we're at a point of needing reproduction panels since originals and aftermarkets are extremely hard to come by.
  14. Kick around thread. Hoping to spurn individual posts pertaining to but not limited to such items as: The existing threads for rubber/weatherstripping and Heater cores Suspension/engine/tranny mounting rubber Carpet We have some decal repro folks right here. Can we maybe get our heads together and have produced one or two stripe kits (white and black?) for 72-79? Give the maker a good number of buyers - them passing along a discount - keep the money in the family here. Anything else? Fiberglass panels? Pre-formed hoses kits? Brake lines? Tight year for money for lots of folks,I know. But it's also a good year to wheel 'n deal with shops. Think about how long you hope to keep your car on the road. Kick it around.
  15. Both - prices and acquiring the parts so I can get the repairs done. Already submitted info to car-parts so now I'll try the other one too. Subaruparts dot com showed that it might be in stock. I'd need to actually submit an order to find out for sure. Yes,I think this car will be saved even if I have to go thru the dreaded inspection process for Salvaged Vehicles. If they give me the right price this car will be mostly stripped and the body sent off for repairs to the unibody. If it works out that way I'll have the shop hack out the repairs to the spare tire deck and firewall, and driver's floor near the wall where "Flintstoning" has begun. yabba dabba doo !
  16. A mile from your house,eh? Gotta love that. Indy sprouting up and over,my thought too. Same issue here,my son wants the Gen I Brat AND my beloved '78 wagon.:-\ Enjoy it!
  17. Now the other side. We have windshield gaskets. There's at least 4 windshields here in CT and more elsewhere. I've used my '78 wagon as a daily driver at times for the last eight years with absolutely NO major repairs. For the money its been my best car, hands down. Once was our only runner in the dead of winter with one infant and a toddler, for about 5 weeks. Our other cars had issues pop up and an accident so there was the old stand by workhorse that it is. You won't find a more reliable engine. Regardless of listed hp you can get some zip out of your car and enjoy not being a nuisance like the hp hungry mouthbreathers. The factory service manuals can be had for peanuts on eBay. There's a healthy support group. Most of us have found these cars extremely easy to maintain. Cheers
  18. Yeah,I hear ya. But one never knows untill one tries. We scored a Stage I wagon rear quarter in our big load. So maybe one of you nice folks will cut a quarter out for me then.

  21. Sounds like it needs a windshield gasket. Get a moderator to move this thread to the Historic Forum. Good luck with it.
