  1. Have fun guys! Too much going on and I'm hoping for some O/T 'cause I need some fat in the paycheck for my habit. If there's any way at all .....we'll make it with the '78 this time.
  2. I bought mine this past year. Can't recall the number - Todd will If I run across them this week I'll get the # if no reply by then.
  3. WHAT??????? I don't get this. There's EA71 automatics.....
  4. *** Sorry but this is for Gen I vehicles. Good luck with yours.
  5. Hey,can we bring our FWD and go in the woods with someone? If I don't hear from someone by like around 5-6AM then we'll probably bring the old '78 again. If you do have my number please don't call after 9PM but feel free to call around 6:30 -9AM Sunday Yes to the diner unless we're running late. Freezing cold,no tools with me....I sense danger. We'll be there :-p:grin::cool::lol:
  6. Sweety, good talking to you the other night. Sorry the battery ran out and charger in the car. Seeing some of those things you've typed I completely understand your frustrations with folks not reading, etc. and your being upset over the money and time into the car and still its not something to take to shows and feel truely proud about..... but !!!! ..... A) look at the prices of anything else that rolls and your $2300 really isn't all that much to worry about since .... you're hardly needing to go spending much more at all to at least make it a FINE daily or occasional user. And again, check the prices of these used cars here in CT and elsewhere in the northeast. You should come out with a car that's reliable and lovable for less than having to go buy a good 2.2 these days. (a good one - don't compare just any 2.2 , compare the condition Coupe vs. Local 2.2's I'm wayyyyyy overtired, must catch a nap before Igorland calls. Call tonight if you want. Mostly I just want to see you TRY to consider keeping it and maybe at least get some fun and miles out of it before turning it over. Good luck and call if you want to. I neglected to add your number and now its already off the menu so when you get a chance give me a ring. Wanna 70's headache instead?? .... just thought about that.
  7. You know those Mitsubishis bombed Pearl Harbor don't you?? :-p:lol: Well,I guess we can forgive you. Sweet car!! Worth the time and little bit of dough for sure.
  8. Wow What's up with that? Step back, relax. It's an EA81 you'll be fine. There's plenty of good EA81's at Charlie's place alone. Besides,I'm thinking it could be mighty simple like the others are telling you. Good luck. Let me know if you need Charlie's number or anything else and I'll hope for you to NOT fail
  9. I see a few "flange to flange" gaskets for further down the exhaust line. ....And maybe 2 that work up to the head.
  10. New thread. Who's in? We're still uncertain but calender looking good for Sunday.
  11. Supreme effort,Mike !!! Coming out really nice. Let us all know if you find someone who carries that camper top seal, please. Or if we can find someone to reproduce them.
  12. Yes,I caught that. Good thing because of a Saturday family day at work. We'll head down late Saturday. nip - only mentioning because you poo poo'd the idea of waking up early and of camping, previously. You're top poster - you can handle it. Hopefully I finally get to throw some sand on your prissy blue wagon for taking over top loser spot. all fun - see you there
  13. If you don't have air conditioning or choose to keep your windows down you're going to suck in a lot of sand dust. At the very least bring tissues if not a dust mask or whatever breathing filter you prefer. Red Lion Diner - no matter what nipper says - at around 8:30-9AM for me. For the new follks that's at the traffic circle intersection of route 206 and 70. Most likely we'll camp overnight Friday.....again, no matter what nipper says. Not sure which one we're taking but it's going to have to be vintage. Hoping to have Jim C's old '79 BRAT registered and running well enough to make the trip.
  14. Brat is up here now. Thanks again to all the great folks in south Jersey !!! Pics coming later or tomorrow. BRAT has some rot in the rocker panels and took on some water on the passenger side floor but otherwise looks great and behaves fairly well.
  15. Yes,and with a little attention it drove back relatively well. Needs some work here and there but overall I am very happy to have this BRAT. It'll probably be tagged this weekend and be down there at the Barrens soon.
  16. Making a quicky run down tomorrow, just to the "All We'll Drive" shop in West Creek and maybe a quick dart thru a Barrens location.....we'll see. Picking up my Gen I BRAT .... thanks again to Tom and crew - Mike and Eric !~! But the real time for us to have fun is coming up REAL SOON ......right???? We should be down for any of the early October weekends.
  17. Bad month for spare time for me. I found a new core for a '78 -so it says on the box- I'll take some pics with measurments to shop around. If I take it around here the price will be too high,I'm pretty sure. We need to shop this where labor and shop overhead is cheaper.
  18. Talk to me. Luc's birthday soon. One last camp out for us before it gets cold.
  19. Sometimes I spend more time worrying about which way to go about something than the time it would take to just get it going. As I get older I'm doing all I can to avoid "mind time" and just swim forward thru the tide. Like the others have said, just take it out and go at it cleanly. You'll certainly appreciate it and I'm pretty sure you'll find yourself giving it more attention that way. Things to consider: with engine out you can get to the seals you can't with the engine in. - rear crank - diff. output shaft seals - shifter bushings - etc. and maybe a new clutch and fresh surfaced pressure plate. Just a thought. Good luck with it.
  20. Still have yet to see this vehicle in person but I've acquired a 1979 Brat from Jim C. , former SOA man on the go. From the picture I received from Jim a couple of years ago his/my Brat looks very solid and with its uncracked dash should be a candidate for restoration. My son has called dibs on it five years or so from now. I sure do plan on sending Jim a nice gift because the Brat came to me WAY too cheap. Jim if you see this , and I hope you do , thanks again a thousand times. A nice donation will indeed be made in your name to the USMB. Thanks also to Tom of "All We'll Drive" in West Creek New Jersey. He and his crew are great guys from my experiences. Hope to be down there very soon. Lunch is on me , for sure! Thanks again , guys!!!!!!
  21. here i is :-p Hey Erik,Cool to see another northeast vintage owner with enthusiasm. Yes,there's one right near you,but not for long. I'm going to pick it up this week. Also a 1979. We'll try to help you out as best as possible. Might be some blue pieces left. You might want to sit back a bit now and try not to just buy the first items you see pop up. Some of us have new old stock items and a decade or more of accumulated used parts. But,there's no NOS dashboards or door panels, etc except for a very few random pieces that are not blue and not Brat. I do have Subaru tune-up kits, filters, and various small items that I can offer in the near future. Have you thought about protection for your baby? Car bubbles are great.
