moosens replied to Crabman's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Guessing that "M" on the end of the ID number means Modified ?? Good luck with it. I'll chime in if I see something someone else doesn't. -
3AT governor woes... help!
moosens replied to Cold Chuck's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
There's an upgrade metal gear for that governor too. Least expensive and least time consuming. -
Hood Release Adjustable?
moosens replied to carfreak85's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Sure will, but also check that the latch itself isn't starting to mangle. Might have to remove the grill and the latch to view it properly. Takes only a few minutes - grill 4 screws - latch 2 bolts and then carefully work the latch out to view it. If you have A/C be carefull of the condenser fins. Trying to replace a cable right now but with the moving I have going on I can't seem to take any time to get this done as easy as it should be.And it needs to be done so I can park the car elsewhere without worrying about someone opeing the hood and ripping off my battery, etc. When I pulled the latch out I could see the loops around the receiver were well bent up,like everyone else's I suppose. They (latches) have that reputation of tweaking out. One thing that I'm pretty sure is holding me up is the clamp that holds the cable onto the radiator support - its not there :-\ so I need to hunt one down. Without the cable being locked down at that point the entire cable will just slide with your every pull. -
Hood Release Adjustable?
moosens replied to carfreak85's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Chances are the latch is starting to tweak out a little. Or the cable just getting tired. Either way,you have lube and replace as options only. Good luck. I have several of these in new and good used condition. If you can wait untill June then ask me, I can hook you up. Also have latches in good used condition. -

Couple of things. One,I did sell on eBay,a set of blue door panels that had a VERY nice example of that sticker on it. Two,I was going to contact a board member -SubaruTex and see if his company can produce a contact sheet with all those old decals the FHI and SOA folks stick on before they hit the showroom/lot. "Caution Fan" , E-brake adjustment , "Do not let idle stick...." and the whole lot.. I think guys like you and myself would gladly pay the big ticket for the set up. You know how it is,set up is the cost, running them off is peanuts. And,only about 6 people here would actually buy a set. :-\ Meanwhile,I'll try to carry the camera and see if I can get a nice example for you.

I just had new sets in my hands yesterday. I'll be back at my storage later today or tomorrow and will try to bring a set or two home. Tiny clips, springs, shims, all that cool stuff. Send me your shipping address and notate WHAT IT IS I'm shipping ,your real name and your board name, please and I'll send a set out. Toss me the shipping and a few bucks,we'll work it out later. Just be patient, please. I'm way over my head right now with having to move storage,etc.etc....Thanks

Installing Rear Brat Window

...and then add some pics of that project. Ditching lots of EA81/Gen II Brat parts,Brad. Let me know if you need something. Not much pertaining to the rear half with me,but you never know. -

New Subaru Commercial With Brat
moosens replied to Durania's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
They'd have done a much better job just showing up at one location here in CT. Pretty sure a couple board members would agree. Should be some pics of the place back in my gallery. ff-1 ,70's Stage I , 70's Stage II ,70's 4WD ,Gen I BRAT ,Hatchbacks ,EA81 wagons ,EA82's ,RX ,XT's ,Legacys -both 90's styles and several stuffed with PARTS FROM SUBARUS FROM THE 360 thru ff-1 thru the 70's and 80's. Even some New Old Stock pieces in a couple. AND Connecticut strokes the film industry these days with incentives and tax breaks. Sorry guys, close but no cigar. Like I said earlier. Gassed up just now.How about you? Hmm,mine was $3.89 for regular 87. High-test was $4.09.Pretty sure down in Greenwich and Darien it'll be $4.89 or so for 92 octane. Those are towns I make sure I won't have to stop for gas in. I need 17" wheels and all wheel drive on dry pavement 90% of the time? gimme a break. -

nipper, you're about 10 years behind several of us who've tried to email,etc.....heck,we even have an SOA guy here , and not the guy who sweeps the floors either. He's very busy, and his dad is ailing last I heard so he's not on here much at all. He knows the deal too. He even owns a Gen I BRAT.....so why don't the other people at Cherry Hill or wherever the heck it is now take notice?? You got lucky and had someone who replied without a form letter, apparently. eMail schmeemail, they don't give a rats arse about us or going backwards with horsepower and housewife magnets like AWD or 17" wheels they DON'T NEED. Not laughing at you but ...... we've been down this road before. -
77 coupe at junkyard in CO

Wood steering wheel or wood shift knob if it has them. Probably can add some more little bits 'n pieces. Like the rubber retainers for the seatbelts on the mid-pillars. Got a camera to take with you? -

Bad timing. Charlie has or had several of those, old, removed from cars, but still good enough to use if no other existed. I'll see if he managed to save any,I'm sure he tucked them away somewhere. If he has one not worth using we'll cut that one for a cross section to match up new stock to. -

OK now the real deal begins. We wish you well, and hope for the best. But,at this point you are at the very meaning of the words "basket case". Good luck. Too many projects lay in boxes. I'm sure several older guys here will attest to that. Me,I'm going on my 20th year of my Ducati restoraion. But raising a family is more important. Kids are straight A students. So my MAIN PROJECT is a success. Go get 'em ! -

It's here,I can send it along real soon. Didn't you win that woodgrain vent from me on eBay? I've got that boxed and ready. Send an extra $5 and I'll send that '75 manual along. It's in great shape,BTW. Pardon the hijack. -

blah blah blah ..... somewhat cute, but that's where it ends for me. Consider the way the industry has gone and that Subaru is just another cog in the big machine. They ditched their old fuel saving cars, they neglected the vintage owners from the moment they hit big in the 80's, they don't make any effort to support the vintage or enthusiast crowd here unless you're buying STi parts. When they bring back something like a 1600 or 1400 I'll appreciate them showing those cars. Hey Fuji H.I., I dare you to make a dual range on demand 4WD fuel injected 1600 or 1400 for the entire western hemisphere. Punks! Give us what we NEED. NOT what advertising mindwarps us into believing we WANT. -

Which 1975 FSM do you have? Mine says 4.125,that's why I originally posted the other thread. MSA-105 page 1-7 check it out. Also, that same manual shows the engines with two port exhaust and mentions the advent of the EA63E for the 4WD on page 4-3 Previous page explains the new two-port heads for 1975. -
