  1. Glad you got yourself through that. Hope the tranny works well for you.
  2. Can we see the back side of that alternator? I just noticed that is says 150 on the box,so not 360 alt.,I think. But that green label goes WAY back to the 360 era.
  3. THe "accordian" thing is a duct from behind the dash. Looks Subaru to me. I'm sending a PM with some offers. that rad. looks Ea71 to me too. just scored one from a rad. shop's old inventory for $35 so I'll offer you the same. That's at least a benchmark so if someone wants it more they know what to offer you. PM coming
  4. You turkey!!! Good to see you back. Should be making a run down to the Barrens real soon. Family trip to PA over the turkey weekend,so maybe I'll show the wife and daughter what the mom's Legacy wagon can do to get dirty. And if we doo,I'll give you a call.....even though you're never home. Is that Gen I Brat still up the road at that shop on 206?? Hagerty's? Harrity's? something like that... Current needs: running, reliable EA82T and s/r tranny for it Hope to see you soon.
  5. Stage II dual headlights. Mid 70's shock absorber. Alt. looks like a 360 part with the green label. A/C pulley. Radiator looks like the EA71 rad. I just picked up. Yeah, those Brat rear seatbelts..... !!!!
  6. Fixing bodywork and getting a re-upholstery job is not modification. Same for adding a decent set of Sport Mags from just a couple years later than your car was made. For the record, you would have a hell of a time restoring any unibody car from the bodywork standpoint. So,you just get it made solid by someone with some sense of craftsmanship. It won't look like hell and who's ever going to point at it and say "that's not original sheetmetal!!" ?? Your car is way more solid than MANY that have been successfully restored.
  7. Early Jackman centercap.....I'm about 99% sure on that. Anyone else?
  8. Thanks guys. Just did a quicky clean up with some very mild detergent and water. Took the pic while wet. Charlie saved that Coupe dash because HE is a hardcore Subaru freak and like myself, had all those cars as a young man. Charlie rules. Gotta hook him up bigtime for this one.
  9. Sure, when there's so much of a herd you can spare some. An ff-1? Not in my opinion. And,in the end, that's all it is,my opinion. There's a big exception to your rule. Firstly, the ff-1,too rare. Secondly, our beloved 70's cars are quickly disappearing.Or in our case up here, pretty much gone.
  10. Sort of surprised that you haven't cracked open the books and gotten some answers on your own. Do you need a parts manual? I'm not sure, but I thought you said you had gotten service and parts manuals....too lazy to look back right now. I can scan whatever you need if I don't have a double.Pretty sure I have only one. As has already been mentioned, these cars are light. The 1100 won't blow doors but it'll deliver what you need.
  11. Must have been tose cretins with the Maxima that got Roy(the owner) pissed. Who were those losers anyways? Must have been someone who called Charlie's ads....I guess. We've worked on cars there before right in front of Roy. Kind of like that I got there early and tucked myself into the far back corner long before anyone else showed up,including Roy.
  12. Wow,great time for me,I can tell you that. Uncracked dash for my '73 GL1400 Coupe. OK,let's see you pull one of those out from your local Subaru guru's place. Well,it's a shame that the vintage northeast owners are a little too busy, etc. There's a slew of good parts still left there. Our man Charlie could sure use to make some money back from those cars and parts so please if you still need something ask me and I'll relay the message or get the part(s) for you and ship. Meanwhile,I'm going to ask Charlie if its ok to give you guys his number and you can work out your own deals.
  13. Hey!!! Good morning!!! Rest of the house is still sleeping...call me tonight if you have time. Yeah,it was one really nice day after all.
  14. The victory march ! Found at Charlie's in an old EA81 fourdoor sitting there waiting for me for years..... an uncracked dashboard SPECIFICALLY for my '73 GL1400 Coupe My immediate reaction was near hysteria.Thankfully I was too exhausted to carry on like the wacko I'd normally be at a time like this. Still,it was a mindboglling experience for those first few minutes and loading it into the car to take home.At those points I could barely contain myself.Just a constant chuckle, kind of like a mental patient babbling away. :slobber:
  15. Closer to 10AM would be best. A little early shouldn't be a big deal but please don't show up super early. To all: Again, this is a RENTED SPACE it is not Charlie's property and it is NOT a BUSINESS. You are there on your own and are expected to not get hurt,etc.etc.....so please, make this a good and healthy day all around. Address:532 New London RoadCity:Colchester Hope to see you there. All lists are printed and I'm almost out the door.....well,pretty soon.
  16. OK but the big question is how many GLF-5's are there out there? Check my gallery, there's one rotted away up at Charlie's place. It's the "Coupe" or hardtop like a GLF. Here it is: Tail lights are different than my '82 GLF 1600 engine too. Anyone need parts? Let me know ASAP as in NOW because it'll be crushed real soon. Cheers!
  17. Is that really your license plate number? Car looks like a lot of fun-per-dollar!!!
  18. I have this used cover from Charlie's: Looks like the passenger side to me. Like I said before,I'm positive I have one of those new,but not sure which side or how soon I'll get my hands on it again. But hopefully this is a slow meticulous restoration. That side trim ....I have some pieces set aside for you. They are staight, crisp, and not dinged up at all. More good news to follow. Car looks VERY French oooo la la !!! But I agree, just get good looking 13" wheels. Those '70's Sport Mags would be pretty cool. How about Photoshop a set of those on so we can see? I can't say this enough, sure it's your car to do as you see fit. But it's now very much part of a community with the majority of the members interested in you keeping it as close to stock as possible.Again, this is NOT the car you want to play games with. Its your choice, but I'm certainly not going to support you if I see you're making a joke out of it. Don't forget,I have two close friends here in CT who also have ff-1's Glad you got it running, never had a doubt it'd start up reasonably easy. There's NO REASON to be fearful of the 1100 or the 1300 despite the sloppy sleeves. Just don't overheat it,that's it. See you guys soon.
  19. So far, this Saturday looks good. Not too many really nice wheels there.
  20. Factory manuals on eBay all the time. Plenty cheap. Never had the How To....book and most likely never will.
  21. Welcome Bruce! N.S. is in our blood. Hope to scratch up a small lot of land near the Baddeck/Cheticamp/Inverness triangle someday.Should have bought in '97....:-\ Not sure what I can help with but feel free to ask. Last time we were up there was around 1997 and there still weren't too many Subarus there, which surprised me. How are pickings for used 2.2's and 2.5's up there? I have an excellent relationship with a local dealer who gives me typical 25-33% discount on parts. And also there's a good yard that still lets you pick parts if they know you,and its right next to the dealer.I know how sparse it can be in parts of NS so if you want me to look for something,no problem. Nova Scotians are the best! Scallops,mussels,salmon,sea-run brook trout the size of footballs..........oh man, Enjoy your time here. Cheers, Paul
