  1. Well,to the both of you,we've all got different angles to play from. Mud is cool with me.come down and play with us at the Pine Barrens sometime when I have something worth taking.
  2. I'll do my best, but might have to wait untill next year.
  3. Yeah,I asked about the hoses last year and was surprised to hear they are free and available for all to use. After the long ride for many of us I wouldn't call it desperate.Just makes good sense to get the road dust off for the Show. Saturday only for me too.If I'm still there Sunday it'll be because I caught up on sleep and am driving home as early as possible on Sunday. Looking like Andrew and Charlie are out.Too bad,but most understandable.I'm very lucky to be *most likely* going but I'm not looking forward to filling the gas tank.
  4. I finally got by Perkins Subaru yesterday and dropped off two promos. They're donating some promo/goodybag material to us for the Show.I also asked Anthony to please print up something or pass along items which promote his/their "SubaruPartsFor You.com" site. Going back before the Show and getting a good bagfull,or more items to hand out to our gang. To anyone else who isn't chicken poop about socializing with a Subaru dealer, please consider approaching your local dealer-parts dept. first, sales lastly-and show them a Carlisle Promo and ask if they'll help.At the very least you should get some cheesy coasters, pens,or something unless they totally suk nuts.
  5. Thank you everybody!! Today I had a great conversation with my wife. We'll see,but I'm probably going to go see you guys and blow off my son's game.I really hope he does too and comes along with me.But he loves baseball more than cars right now. Doesn't look like a family outing by any stretch.Daughter has things going on,etc......also missing my niece's graduation-who's VERY lucky to be alive and walking after a wicked car accident this past year. Sure am going to try! And sure am going to try to tune up that '78 so I can squeeze those MPG's out!!! Freakin gas prices!
  6. Thanks very much for doing that.As of this moment I haven't yet even seen my Coleman, which is buried.Just brought my first Legacy load of good from the storage unit to the new garage space.Kind of like moving a pebble off the beach. Yeah,we can all help by bringing paper plates,etc...and nobody need to bring too much food.Expect most people to just be there Saturday for lunch and a few less for the evening meal.Lots of folks will disappear by Sunday, including myself, should I make it. The way it looks right now I might take off around midnight from here and sleep in the car so I can be there early Saturday AM....but things are still not 100% set.Hoping my son wants to blow off his Saturday ballgame and come along. He has a game on Sunday too. If I come down overnight I would sure appreciate a shower sometime on Saturday.I'll have to check to see if Carlisle has them.Otherwise if someone is staying at a hotel, maybe I can mooch a quicky....shower that is. Also,if I'm going to make it down for early Saturday, who wants to fatten up at the Waffle House with a big dog breakfast that morning?I know I'd be willing to.
  7. You've seen a 4door or wagon GLF??? Don't confuse the GLF with what I posted, please. This is not a model designation, its a feature, notated on certain models. We own a 1982 GLF automatic, and it's not part of the "FE" group.
  8. Windshield gasket payment taken care of? Sorry Dan,but this needs to be addressed. We run a good board and do a lot to help each other.Just want to make sure a GREAT guy like Todd is covered. There's a waiting list and commitment date has past. I really don't want to post here but you told me before that you were going to see Todd and take care of it and that never happened as of the last time I talked to Todd. Accept my apology, please if you have indeed paid.Todd didn't do a spreadsheet for this batch so I have no update on payments as of this moment.
  9. Just happened to breeze through my '81-82 FPM and noticed some models although designated as "2door,4door,hardtop" are marked as "FE" meaning Fuel Economy. Those 1982 models are: 2door w/1.8 (and not the 1.6 also available! :-\ )that had a 5spd (JF1AF43B*CB)100001 and after 4doors w/5spd 1.8 (JF1AB43B*CB)200001 and after and Hardtops (a.k.a. "Coupes as many of us refer to them) 1.8 5spd (JF1AW44B*CB)30001 and after. Seems weird how none of the 1.6's are FE. I do not have my other FPM's handy from '83 and up.But if someone else does I'd like to know if they continued the "FE"....and don't forget,it's not a model,it's a listed feature. The REAL FE was produced in '78 and '79. More info-my '81 FPM did not show this same info.No mention of FE in the same model/feature/classification listing. See you late tonight or tomorrow! Cheers
  10. Thanks for the thoughts guys.Best thing to do is contact me later in the week,or Saturday. I should be helping the guy who owns the new space put up a wall on Saturday....but I'm going to see if he can get his guys to do it before then.Made the mistake of volunteering to help and apparently he thinks he has to wait untill I get there to get working on it.Bogus! Not my property, and its only enhancing his place and making it more marketable when I leave, which we hope is this year sometime. Look for an update on the progress later in the week. Connie,I just couldn't answer the phone, sorry.Talk to you soon.
  11. I guess nobody told you....the whole stinkin Subaru section IS a scratch 'n dent area. All mine are considered a daily as well, just not continually daily drivers. The '78 was when I needed it,the '82 is for my wife right now,the '85 is for my sister inlaw...so all our older Subarus get a workout. To let them sit is to make them suffer.Right now our newest car,the '96 is sitting.:-p Just Show UP ...and have a great time.As mentioned,I might not make it this year.So you guys throw down and get funky.
  12. Well,if I make it I'm going to be leaving here early Saturday AM.....and right now that's a big IF. So,I'd be not caring about taking my Coleman stove to rush around setting up,etc.....but who knows, things could change. If you guys have a stove and/or grill I'll gladly buy something to cook, and even do some cooking,no problem.
  13. Good man!! Hope you do well on the track. ...just saw the post before mine, and yes,you want something fastened to the unibody structure, not just bumpers.Amen! Can't say much for the EA82 cars but we used an '84 GL wagon to tow dolley an '82 GLF back from Rochester NY to Danbury CT through the mountains.Scary at times but we made it and the engine never got hot.I don't see a real problem with racebikes and a small trailer.Used to see plenty of CCS racers doing it with smaller vehicles-non truck.
  14. Looking like Carlisle will be scratched.Things just got pushed back enough to make that difference if I can't get moved over quickly.
  15. Things are very much up in the air right now for myself,Charlie, and at least one other vintage owner from CT. For me it's a delay in getting the new rental space being ready and getting moved over.Gas prices aren't helping either. Charlie-just too busy from the town cracking down on him,gas prices too. The other guy, well,I'll not include him to be respectful and let him decide and explain. If you think you'd like to help out on a personal basis with moving etc.,check my post in Meet/Greet.Might make all the difference.
  16. Geez, when is this going to stop? You guys are entertaining though,I'll give you that. We'll all be cheering Ben on at Carlisle in the "Threaded Rod by Home Depot" SVX at the autocross. Seriously, this is so silly now....can you guys maybe consider "cheese-ing it"? Best cheese-Northern Italy.Hands down. Ciao!
  17. Looks funkalicious! whatever that means.... To me it's pretty cool and shouldn't get ripped off.:-p Cheapy hubcaps will spice it up enough for now.I know what you mean about the can. They do sound better on the flat four than Hondogs. You want one of those rear wingy/spoiler things?I've got a very decent one.If you get my wheels from Mudrat and ship them (I'll cover shipping even though John should) I'll send you the "killer tail",just cover that shipping. It's black,JSYK.Came off a '90 RS
  18. Are the 80's cars the same part with a different number? One of these days I'll take some comparisons....IF I still have 80's cars around.
  19. Jon,the Moke is super cool!!! Try to find the old....Popular Mechanics??? I think, where that guy McCahill test drives one. Very cool! Your $100 you don't have was well spent in my opinion. That seller must not have explored many options for marketing it.You got yourself a good buggy there. Un-hijack..... Carlisle.....get your rear in gear and be there.
  20. We've had some mighty ugly machinery show up before, but it was never considered unwelcome!!! It's a car MEET first and foremost.Nobody from our group enters the judged contest,at least not yet. Matt,no sweat, and hope all works out well for you.I've got one of those colds you can't shake too easily as well. Jon in NY,that could work.Let's talk.I can't find the lugnuts for the Pugs though, but they are there somewhere.Got centercaps for those wheels?
  21. You probably would really appreciate getting new stabilizer bushings and transverse link bushings too. Also, leading rod bushings. These are getting extremely hard to find,so hopefully people begin to take my post about making parts seriously if they want to restore these old cars to a high standard. We should already be talking about this but nobody seems to care much just yet. Factory Manuals are easy to find. Not to break stones, but if you have one you'd answer a lot of your own questions.I'm only trying to help so don't take that the wrong way, please. Parts I mention above are #'s 31(6210 11332,6210 11333)stabilizer, 42(6211 08170)transverse link bushing, and 49 two per side(6210 11311) #'s in parentheses are old SOA p/n's.Your dealer will probably laugh,or cry when you ask them. But try anyways, and maybe someone can help. Wheel bearing IS the same inner and outer like Russell says.p/n 90601 0015. Make us proud!!! Good luck with it.
  22. No sweat, just breaking balls...glad you're coming and hey,we all deserve a break sometime. And you still got one,so good for you, man. See you in Milford soon. Carlisle, everybody!!! Carlisle!!!! go go go go go!!!!!!!! Good chance my '82 might be there.Sure could use tires but not much extra dough just yet to get them. For those that don't know us yet, that's Andrew "WagonsOnly" on the left with his '73 wagon, and Matt with his whiter than white legs on the right checking out my '78 wagon, which should be there at Carlsile. Dave (hocrest) is in the back and Connie's beau Tommy is off to the far right. Nicest cargo this car EVERY carried,"LeakingOil" Melissa: Sorry, but my '73 GL Coupe won't be there this year unless some miracle happens. But hey, don't forget,it's NOT ABOUT just old cars,as you'll witness when you see the Saab-Mercedes-Volvo yupppie packs.....so don't be ashamed of a well used Subaru or a nice shiny newer Subaru....just show up!!!
  23. witnessed this myself being from pretty much the same area just across the Sound.B'port=South Bronx of CT,or New England for that matter.
  24. yeah, but try to avoid getting tossed out this year. See you there,Jon.
  25. Well good luck and hope you stick around that long. I'm so clean and drug free right now it's disgusting. Carlisle???? Didn't see you in there.:-\
