Carlisle Import Show **FOOD**/stayover thread
moosens replied to moosens's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Well,if I make it I'm going to be leaving here early Saturday AM.....and right now that's a big IF. So,I'd be not caring about taking my Coleman stove to rush around setting up,etc.....but who knows, things could change. If you guys have a stove and/or grill I'll gladly buy something to cook, and even do some cooking,no problem. -
How are these cars for towing?
moosens replied to ZRX Doug's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Good man!! Hope you do well on the track. ...just saw the post before mine, and yes,you want something fastened to the unibody structure, not just bumpers.Amen! Can't say much for the EA82 cars but we used an '84 GL wagon to tow dolley an '82 GLF back from Rochester NY to Danbury CT through the mountains.Scary at times but we made it and the engine never got hot.I don't see a real problem with racebikes and a small trailer.Used to see plenty of CCS racers doing it with smaller vehicles-non truck. -
Things are very much up in the air right now for myself,Charlie, and at least one other vintage owner from CT. For me it's a delay in getting the new rental space being ready and getting moved over.Gas prices aren't helping either. Charlie-just too busy from the town cracking down on him,gas prices too. The other guy, well,I'll not include him to be respectful and let him decide and explain. If you think you'd like to help out on a personal basis with moving etc.,check my post in Meet/Greet.Might make all the difference.

Helicoil exhaust header bolts on a loyale?
moosens replied to Milemaker13's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Geez, when is this going to stop? You guys are entertaining though,I'll give you that. We'll all be cheering Ben on at Carlisle in the "Threaded Rod by Home Depot" SVX at the autocross. Seriously, this is so silly now....can you guys maybe consider "cheese-ing it"? Best cheese-Northern Italy.Hands down. Ciao! -
Looks funkalicious! whatever that means.... To me it's pretty cool and shouldn't get ripped off.:-p Cheapy hubcaps will spice it up enough for now.I know what you mean about the can. They do sound better on the flat four than Hondogs. You want one of those rear wingy/spoiler things?I've got a very decent one.If you get my wheels from Mudrat and ship them (I'll cover shipping even though John should) I'll send you the "killer tail",just cover that shipping. It's black,JSYK.Came off a '90 RS

Front end rebuild questions
moosens replied to Subieguy's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Are the 80's cars the same part with a different number? One of these days I'll take some comparisons....IF I still have 80's cars around. -
Jon,the Moke is super cool!!! Try to find the old....Popular Mechanics??? I think, where that guy McCahill test drives one. Very cool! Your $100 you don't have was well spent in my opinion. That seller must not have explored many options for marketing it.You got yourself a good buggy there. Un-hijack..... Carlisle.....get your rear in gear and be there.

We've had some mighty ugly machinery show up before, but it was never considered unwelcome!!! It's a car MEET first and foremost.Nobody from our group enters the judged contest,at least not yet. Matt,no sweat, and hope all works out well for you.I've got one of those colds you can't shake too easily as well. Jon in NY,that could work.Let's talk.I can't find the lugnuts for the Pugs though, but they are there somewhere.Got centercaps for those wheels?

Front end rebuild questions

You probably would really appreciate getting new stabilizer bushings and transverse link bushings too. Also, leading rod bushings. These are getting extremely hard to find,so hopefully people begin to take my post about making parts seriously if they want to restore these old cars to a high standard. We should already be talking about this but nobody seems to care much just yet. Factory Manuals are easy to find. Not to break stones, but if you have one you'd answer a lot of your own questions.I'm only trying to help so don't take that the wrong way, please. Parts I mention above are #'s 31(6210 11332,6210 11333)stabilizer, 42(6211 08170)transverse link bushing, and 49 two per side(6210 11311) #'s in parentheses are old SOA p/n's.Your dealer will probably laugh,or cry when you ask them. But try anyways, and maybe someone can help. Wheel bearing IS the same inner and outer like Russell says.p/n 90601 0015. Make us proud!!! Good luck with it. -
No sweat, just breaking balls...glad you're coming and hey,we all deserve a break sometime. And you still got one,so good for you, man. See you in Milford soon. Carlisle, everybody!!! Carlisle!!!! go go go go go!!!!!!!! Good chance my '82 might be there.Sure could use tires but not much extra dough just yet to get them. For those that don't know us yet, that's Andrew "WagonsOnly" on the left with his '73 wagon, and Matt with his whiter than white legs on the right checking out my '78 wagon, which should be there at Carlsile. Dave (hocrest) is in the back and Connie's beau Tommy is off to the far right. Nicest cargo this car EVERY carried,"LeakingOil" Melissa: Sorry, but my '73 GL Coupe won't be there this year unless some miracle happens. But hey, don't forget,it's NOT ABOUT just old cars,as you'll witness when you see the Saab-Mercedes-Volvo yupppie packs.....so don't be ashamed of a well used Subaru or a nice shiny newer Subaru....just show up!!!

OK kids, the chili sounds frikkin beitchin!!! Hoping some more favorite recipies show up. I'm going to do a last minute thing since I need to get lots of other things going first and grab the Coleman double burner (not a smoking device, sorry) when I move from storage space to storage space. Then I'll figure something.Maybe a seafood thing,we'll see.Not so many people seemed to care about it. Somebody who's not really into buying and cooking food want to bring paper plates,utensils,napkins,condements,etc....??Beer is welcome, good beer truely welcome  Soda,water,ice,cooler....whatever you can do will sure help. But let's clearly state our intentions so we don't have 6 large coolers with just ice or 80 burgers.....and no onion.......:-p Cheers! -
Sure,Jon gets in for $5..... ......well I hope Matt made you cover the last lot of tickets, but that's his business. So Jon,don't go hiding this time and wait for us all to leave. See you there,if not sooner at my storage hole. Read the Carlisle site,I think you get 2 people in all weekend for the admission.

Whoa...Jon said he would but that does not mean he has......so please anyone who is looking in and said they were excited about going and meeting up and hasn't signed up yet get your rear quarters moving!!!!! Ben brought it up to 21,I believe. Otherwise I'll regi. my wife and sign up some cars whether actual or created. *****Anyone who is already registered CAN register more cars (actual or imagined) under someone else's name (again, actual or created) and just pay for it.******* Andrew registered mine for me when I was down on cash. As of this moment I haven't personally registered a car but I have three in my name thanks to Andrew. Get the point??? If you really want to contribute something and make this happen just whip out the plastic card and register something/anything Subaru under someone/anyone's name. Details are not checked. You simply show up and go to the little shack where you first come in and get a goodie bag for each actual car you show up with.If you don't show up with all the cars you registered it does NOT affect the tent status. Once we have paid for 25 registrations the tent will be there waiting for us!! .....regardless of the fact that possibly only 15-20 cars will be there. I hope that clarifies a few things and gets folks to shake a leg. If nothing happens here to increase the count I'll bear the cross and regi. more cars.Money is finally picking up here after a wicked bad last 12 months++. Cheers! (Let's get this wrapped up and start thinking good times, food, and drinks) And cheering Ben on in the autocross-and maybe others too. I hear Ben is racing the "Threaded Rod by Home Depot" SVX this year. :-p

Here's the scenario. I rent a truck with liftgate for the first week of May,maybe after May 1st,since everybody and their mother needs to rent a truck the first of the month.Spend the WEEKdays loading up and getting things over as I can up intill around 2PM each day......***Unless I've changed shifts at work by then***. Otherwise, count on the first and second Saturdays/Sundays in May. Third weekend is Carlsile. ^^^^^^^^^If I am on third shift come May I'll be doing the same deal but at different hours, most likely doing the moving from 5-10PM.Not 100% sure of that yet. In either situation during the weekdays I'll just load and unload as best as I can.I'm sure there's going to be some days that I just can't complete a run.So that's why I'll have it for a whole week. 3rd shift thing is going to take some adjusting.I might find myself sleeping later in the afternoon untill 11PM....we'll see.If that happens then having someone help me during the days would be great.I'll be ready to move at 7:30AM during the weekdays if that's the case. Really hoping I can make a big push and get the whole move done in the first week of May,but will take it as is comes. So if you are not working weekdays then please try to come up and help and I'll make it really easy on you.
