Thanks guys. But I should mention a couple of things. 1-the car has a toasted headgasket and the battery has gone weak so between needing to jump it/charge it,and the H/G I doubt I'm going to get to start it up.I'm too busy and won't be having anyone who will help me. 2-I will be storing the car elsewhere so cats are out of the question. We live in a highrise and aren't about to go getting cats and driving to feed them at a storage place, etc. We're city folks with jobs and kids, and the car might be up at WagonsOnly's friend's house way the heck up in Mass a chew zits....won't even bother visiting the car.Just need to store it and retrieve it when we get our house.Or,the car might be about 10 minutes away in a cinderblock bldg. which I might be renting soon.I still won't get a cat for it,sorry. And we'll have our family items, etc. stored along with it and no ventilation. As much as some of you would love to see me dead I'm not starting the car in this guy's building. To me,a cat would only chase the mice into the car.And I'm not about to let a cat stay in this car.No friggin way. Sure the rodents will eat through foil tape. But what about foil tape with poison on the outer side?? Maybe this whole process might not even be worth the effort,I don't know. The body of this car is perfect. The interior is excellent too.Half of me wants to get rid of this headache but the other half says its a weekend away from being one awsome, and now rare car for the northeast. Keep 'em coming, please. Mothballs? Aromatic cedar?? Some type of putty??(for the smaller holes) Probably stuffing some of my old socks in passages would wipe them out.

We'll be tucking away my '87 turbo wagon and would like suggestions of known preventatives for keeping the little critters out of the car while it sits. My first thoughts were to attempt to seal over the vent holes and firewall passages with foil duct tape.I guess the shifter area and parking brake holes too. Any thoughts are welcome. Storage should be fairly short term.Hoping for over-pavement storage, but it might come to sitting under a temp-garage (pole and skin type) built over a field.:-\ At that point I might as well wizz in the car myself.:-\ Hopefully by summer's end we'll be in a house with a garage and I'll be able to work on this beauty of a car. Just a damn shame nobody wants this perfect body right now for such a low price, but that's life.I don't want to bother with eBay,etc. and it's getting too late anyways,so storage is the way it seems to be going.

1979 Subaru Wagon GL Wish List!
moosens replied to cactused's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
There's a "Wish List" thread that we started here in the Historic Forum. Add your list to it,please. Then consider printing it out and checking it when you come across parts at yards, dealerships,or wherever you may find them. It's not impossible to find the parts on your list.I know for a fact that there's some of those rear cargo area side covers for over the wheels, and the tail light too.If nobody speaks up soon, hang in there ans you'll find those items easy enough. The dashboard might be a tough one.:-\ Good luck and welcome aboard! Paul -

Connie, sweety, honey pie.... Do what you want, but maybe you can please please please consider holding off and dumping your effort into the Carlisle gig.....just a thought. With gas prices and time, well you know the deal. Luc is begging me to go to Pine Barrens especially now that he's seen the wicked freakin cool videos!!! To do all three-your place,PB,and Carlisle within a months time would be tough on the budget. Maybe a mid-summer gig at your place? If you do have a get together I'll do my best to try to make it.But with Little League,etc.etc....going to be tough. Cheers! And a message to the few friends I have left here.... I love my new job!!! Looks like I finally stepped in the right poop. -

Help revive my 81 Brat
moosens replied to overunder's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
just scored a solid state V/R off eBay for my '73 Hadn't seen one since the early 80's when we still had these cars on the road. Not sure if there's one out there for the later 70's Subarus, but my guess is there are....somewhere. Meanwhile, there's plenty of old "mechanical" V/R's out there. Got a factory service manual yet?If not, score one of those too, immediately, and multi-meter. Shipping is high on this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SUBARU-1600-1800-Factory-Service-Manual_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ119140QQitemZ160099116772QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW But maybe it's worth it to ask the seller if they'd ship using USPostal MediaMail for around $4 or less. If you get a '77-78-79 manual it'll also have the same diagnostics for the '81 Brat,I'm pretty sure. '77 : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1977-Subaru-1600-Original-Factory-Service-Manual-77_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ119140QQitemZ200072600699QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V You'll find then even cheaper if you wait. Here's a list of V/R's on eBay. http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&catref=C6&from=R10&mppfqy=Subaru+voltage+regulator&satitle=Subaru+voltage+regulator&sacat=-1%26catref%3DC6&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D2&sadis=200&fpos=06604&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=1%26fsoo%3D1&coaction=compare&copagenum=1&coentrypage=search&fgtp= Check your connector-I'm pretty sure you have the round connector-and you should be all set. Good luck. -

I know my 4WD lever rattles and needs that bushing too.Let us know if they show any available. Thanks! -
Start kicking ideas around, please. Thinking an early meet on Saturday at the Waffle House so we can be at the Show by 9AM or shortly thereafter. From the looks of things, the opportunity for my crew to get there on Friday night is in existence. That would take the pressure off of having to rush down on Saturday morninig. And of course,be able to hit the Waffle House. Is anyone intending on bringing a camping stove, grill, etc. to cook on? My stuff is buried still, but I should be tearing through the storage unit in the month of April and could have the good ol' Coleman double burner there. Maybe a nice homestyle cookout experience for Saturday afternoon and evening? Who's camping?Who's snagging a room? Anyone besides Andrew alergic to seafood?
-
From what I understand at this time I'll be able to get down there Friday night. Would be best if I leave Saturday night,or early Sunday, with escort,AAA Plus plan, and well charged cell phone.New job,90 day probabtion, can't be late or miss days in that stretch. Are we ready to talk food yet? And don't forget SATURDAY IS THE DAY to be there. Food/meals probably depends on actual time of arrival. Seperate food thread coming!!

You likely need the shifter "resin bushing".You can probably find them if you hunt around. That's one of the items I intend on either making or getting someone to make. As far as I know the Pug wheels will be tight, but could work for you.Your local tire place can order the 13's no problem, they just probably won't bother stocking them. Glad you're mobile again with it.Good luck. -
Go Neo!!! Go Nick!!!!!!!!! Hey,I can't read too good.....does that say "www.Jeeps_get_stuck dot com???" Nice that you all got along well enough.I'm sure normally those guys our manuever us in the nasty stuff.....on good days. Take us to the watchtower again next time please.I really want to get back there and take some pics from the top. Oh,and way to go to the forester guy too!!!...forgot your name. Are you Bart? Looks like the winter made things more interesting, and you found some of the old spots we went to back in 2001,2002. Good goin' guys!!! See you in April

Rear shocks Question
moosens replied to kiwi subbie's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
I'll try the guy here who has some old Koni stock for us. Any other 1400 owners should chime in now, please. This man should be at the Carlisle Import Show in May.I've emailed asking him to bring whatever Subaru fit items he may have.Hopefully I should have enough money to make a group but on the spot and pass along the discount to my fellow 1400 owners who have shown intention on keeping their cars. -
Thanks! And I'll try to learn how to spell dinner by then. Dinner at the Red Lion Diner!!! mmmmmmmmmmmmm, hot waitresses.... Watch, you guys will get the old lady of the bunch.:-p Who knows what you guys will see me in NEXT MONTH.....might be the '78,might be a Leg-a-wagon,and Impy wagon,or even my friend's Forester which he's offered to me at a great price.Outside chance it could be my '87 turbo wagon too.
