  1. Nah,,,,,thanks but it's just not a good year at this point. They offered a flight before, and I sure do appreciate those offers.Last year I think I got myself scratched from the list but in their defense it was a rough year for the organizers and I completely understand if I got overlooked or scratched for other reasons...like me being a dXXX or something. It was a rough year all around for bad communication, misunderstandings, and total drama. My daughter has a little ear infection, nothing too serious, but she's kind of miserable at times. Matt,I want to talk to you about life up there but really should just call you. Please PM a number so when I have some time I can call you.Let me know when is best to call based on your time zone and I'll adjust.Thanks. We've about had it with this part of the country and are serious about relocating.
  2. Sweet! Wish I had one just like it. Now go find a set of Forester suspension to give it a little lift.
  3. Matt,Thanks for the invite.I really appreciate that. Well, for one thing it looks like we are putting off our anticipated west coast romp this year for sure, but hoping for 2008.Just a bad past year for a lot of reasons. I'll try to send you a PM later or soon.My little girl is sick and it's been a tricky kind of day.
  4. I sure wouldn't have any problem with you posting this at the top of any forum you think works.Don't limit it to just the 80's.You folks have the best event going as far as I'm concerned.Sure there's that big event for the newer cars mostly, here on the east coast, but you guys have the best all-around event, hands down.Slut yourself out and post it everywhere.
  5. Not only will you look cool you'll be functional.Support vehicles often have to travel slower than the traffic you'll be buffering from the participants so the strobes will indeed be well liked by all for safety reasons alone. Gotta admit,I kind of looked the other way when the whole idea came to view, but I like what you're doing now. .....not crazy about the pajama paintjob, but it'll probably grow on me.
  6. Since you're going to need to take the wheels to a shop anyways ask them which media is best.Sand,bead,etc....they'll know.To most of us here we'll just tell you sand or beadblast them.Zipstrip type stuff works well too,but mighty caustic. I guess you'll be busy this summer going to Triathalons,Sailing regattas, and stuff like that.Great support vehicle for runners, bikers, walkers, etc. I hope you do a few of those charity runs, etc. like for Diabetes,AIDS,Cancer, and such.Load the bed with ice and drinks and you're the king. Have fun with it.
  7. Moderbators...please move this to Historic...thanks.
  8. Also, that unit you have has me wondering.I'll have to check my '78 but I'm sure mine is not that type.Todd would know which one that is.York?Sandin?
  9. I remember seeing it and wanting to copy it.....hmmm FPM's do not show A/C at all.Has to be a service/install manual particular to the unit.
  10. Yup,seems that way to me too. Like uncle Skip pointed out to me,check the connector to the Coolant Thermo Sensor. It gets corroded something nasty.I took mine out and cleaned up the male prongs on the CTS with flat toothpicks tinyand sandpaper strips that I used on the toothpick. Then check the connector.Usually they are broken and don't seat well and also have corrosion. If the connector doesn't seat well when you put it back on get some foil duct tape and strap it down with some thin strips.
  11. Same thing as a soda can with hose clamps..... Hey guys, some of these completely S U C K so please just add a post IF YOU HAVE AN ACTUAL TOOL THAT WORKS ON AN ACTUAL Subaru PART. We all know the wonders of duct tape, and such. Nice that some of you want to chime in for the sake of conversation but that's not the intention of this post thread. Some useful makeshift TOOLS have really been a blessing. Like I said, what you see here on Sunday might get you to work on Monday.Things you do in a pinch to get a job done, yes, but I really was hoping we'd keep it to the TOOLS and methods. Lots of folks have made the axle tool.I'm glad some of you posted a pic. Then others can copy it.Hoping to see more pics or good descriptions like we've had. Don't be a tool, post your tool.
  12. oookee dokeee coming along. Some good. Nobody mentioned asprin or stronger medication yet.So that must mean your tools are actually working. Thanks and keep them coming.Has to be at least a few folks that will read this and smile on Sunday instead of bumming a ride on Monday.
  13. Going to need some time to dig out those A/C manuals, they are here,so I can find them pretty soon. WagonsOnly should an A/C install manual handy. Which manufacturer made the compressor?
  14. Yeah,me too...:-\ Easy Killer,go easy...save those parts nice 'n pretty for me and then you're a superstar. With beer money! I'll be happy to email some exploded views of everything you have to deal with for removal.Looks like you've made the decision on the Ozone layer thing,so be careful.Don't ask me how I know but yes, that funky greenish yello foamy stuff, well,it likes to shoot in all sorts of directions...so I've heard....so be careful and maybe donate a couple of bucks to a nature preserve or something Really its not too big of a deal.Just do your release thing, when it stops hissing then start from the front of the car and follow each line to the compressor, and then to the firewall, etc.I'll have to check my manuals for specific instructions for the interior end of things.Nothing too scary there either. so uh...we'll talk soon,ok?
  15. I'd like to investigate the Long Island situation.Someday I'll tell you my Bridgehampton experiences. The racetrack and then some. Was a great area, but the wealthy ruined it for folks like us.Dirt track, trails, sweet vistas, incredible variety of flora, and one of the most coolest roadcourse racetracks anywhere-surface excepted near the end.History nobody seems to care about. effin rich bastids killed a true motorsportsman's land of enchantment. Nick, just don't forget how close those trees are. To those that remember the back of Atco Dragway being a cool place to go it has changed a little. They filled in the large waterholes but we did have some fun there. And had to work a little too.
  16. Nick, please don't mess up that wagon before Carlisle. I might come down in the '78 after a breif discussion with my son tonight. Not sure about making this February run but later in March would probably work. And of course,I'm not going balls out with my '78 and I wouldn't want to see you bang your baby up either. Hopefully I have the turbo wagon back in action by then and then we ROCK! nipper-any dunes permit spots on Bong Island that you know of?Used to be spots out by the Hamptons....but since they shut down Bridgehampton I haven't been out that way.
  17. If you remove all the A/C pieces I'd like to get some or even all of the parts you discard.Of course,I'll cover the shipping and some beer/lunch money. Mostly want the interior stuff and the A/C bracket, but will take all. PM or email if you go that route. Thanks, Paul
  18. Anybody up for a good healthy thread on what to use for certain circumstances/applications when you don't have that Fuji-SOA tool?? I just think it'd be a great idea to round up all the makeshift tools people have used to properly remove and/or install parts. Can we gather up some good info and attatch it to the USRM? Thoughts on the idea welcome. Actual tools to fit applications even more welcome.
  19. Talk to Derek Churchyard at ext.226 He's the man! Tell him you're associated with "Vintage Subaru" and it'll broaden our relationship in general, which in the longrun will help us with discounts. I'm all about saving a buck these days. Our Gen I's were about to be discontinued too,so act fast and make use of the mold before they scrap it.That's all up to the mfg. in Thailand.Hopefully we get our (gen I) next order in soon because I was told that they'd scrap the mold if no orders came in within a few months time from our first batch.Luckily,I think I've secured our lot and the original price too which is amazing since petroleum/shipping costs have risen significantly in the last year. So get yourselves together and make a good group buy.If there's someone out there with a good chunk of extra change they'd be VERY wise to get some extras. We all know the Gen II Brat will be glorified for another decade or two at least. They'll want a 25 piece miminum for new production. But when you consider that they'll last on shelves for several more years and still be considered in great condition its well worth the effort. Those that are already here you have to be skeptical of.Tough to get a good idea of when they were produced unless you know the purchaser.
  20. Anybody price these with PRP? The gasket is still in their catalog. We just got our Gen I's at $35.94 each(plus shipping, still $50 total to your door) through a group buy.New,as in just produced this past fall. PRP's out the door price might be just as low or lower,so you might want to check them beforehand.
  21. Well, maybe if you post some pics or at least describe the condition of various parts, that might help. Color?Mileage?Recently replaced parts?Upgrades? Tough tellin' not knowin'.
  22. Canadian order went out yesterday-to Zefy in Coquitlam,BC Shipping covered, thanks guys!! Looks like this post will be up for awhile......4-6 weeks (yikes) for cheapy USPostal over the border. MAV,you've fallen off the planet again. If I don't hear from you soon,I'm going to send you one gasket and maybe some change from shipping. As of this moment you still owe some dough to cover the TWO you asked for and shipping. Not a big problem here,so just speak up.Good communication makes the wheels turn faster. Zefy, please post when you get the box of 4 pieces. Thanks VERY much for your patience!
  23. Jeff (MAV) Sending another PM.Please reply, and help wrap this up. Thanks, Paul
  24. I'll take Dennis in an '83 Oldsmobile over half the board in their best Subaru. :-p Somebody scare up EJ.....
