  1. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh.......I wish I was able to break away today. Beautiful weather for parts hounding!! Talk to you later.
  2. Ended up wasting the center exhaust section on the touring wagon, but it was worth it. My car is making more noise than any band I ever played in. But it's holding together nicely,so far.I'm surprised it didn't take any real damage underneath except the exhaust.Well, the right rear kind of cambers out now....and the left rear is kind of squashed....and the dents on the doors and fender.....but hey,I got the plant life growing on the bumper off easily enough. Gave it a good washing and it's back in action as a daily abuser. I'm up and down about another run in November.I'll have to see what happens.Work is DEAD slow and I might be laid off soon. IF we do go in Nov. I'll get an earlier start, leave with fuel, and not stop three times like this past weekend.AND,I'll hopefully not have to leave PB early too.Don't forget though,it'll be light out early, but dark really so plan accordingly. Ciao!
  3. Yikes, you gave the board five hours and one minute before you got upset??? Personally,my '78 does 90mph with the same engine and tranny you have.It also gets around 30mph right now but does even better when tuned up and no exhaust problems. Good luck.I don't recall any other gearing from the 70's available. If you find an FE tranny and want to go FWD only then you're all set. You'll get the mpg and go a little faster.
  4. Cool time, great conditions, just too short! Next time,MORE time. YOU CAUGHT ONE OF THOSE LIZARDS ??!!!!!!????!! Have to hear how, please. We hit the Shamong Diner just up the road, went back with the clock against us so we attempted fishing for a few mintes then blew out of there.Made good time going back straight through NYC.Made the party JUST in time. I'll have to see what we can do for November.I'm all for it,but can't confirm just yet. Gas is CHEAP!!! in south Jersey. Thanks again for the tug out!! And thanks for the pictures.I never even took out my camera.:-\ My passenger rear wheel now sits noticably cambered out.Car looks well beaten,so we completed the mission. I also have a stuck caliper,I believe, but it was most likely already bad.Car made all sorts of noises and vibrations but was smooth at 65-75+ mph going up the Pike and on the Hutchinson/Merrit pkwys.
  5. OK,checked in for the last time.See you there unless you're square. If you have my phone number please don't call untill closer to 7AM,thanks.
  6. I'll check the computer before I leave in the AM if you guys want to exchange numbers.Otherwise see you at the diner.
  7. Nice score!!!!!!! Can you scan the original purchase document for us? I think it'd be pretty cool to look one over. Good luck with it.
  8. I'll try to get Andrew to go,maybe another guy too. Andrew,if you see this.......GO!
  9. I received glass in a plain box,nothing special just a little padding.It survived.
  10. I'll see what happens but as of right now I'd have to say you might have to contact PRP to see if they're stocking any. They should. The salesman said they'd probably stock at least a half dozen.
  11. I need to leave there to come home around 4PM the latest. Is anyone else coming from the north?Especially CT or the NY/CT line region. It'd be nice to have a backup, just incase. So what's our count at? 3?? Maybe svxpert can stop by or maybe so other will chime in now that we're so organized. To those interested but still skeptical,it's fairly light duty sandy trails. We won't punish your car,but it'll have oportunities to "exercise" it's rite.No disasters yet in many runs made.
  12. Hi everybody, Called and got the return message. Derek from PRP says to call him back in about 10 days for a better update but he figures they should be in soon.
  13. You're beautiful! I'll dig up what I can for it when I get more settled here. Our stuff is all in storage and we're waiting to sell this place and move before bringing all the boxes back, etc. I'm totally into preserving this car so either way I'll be happy to send you what I can so you can maybe have some fun with it. In the stock that we have there's things like light lenses, heater cover, probably tune up parts, etc. and I think there's grill.Don't forget, these are BRAND NEW parts still in boxes and wrappers. Hopefully that wagon gets buffed out someday.
  14. Red Lion diner is the first one I hit on my way down.....so that's the one. Be there at 9AM,please If you don't make it there then go to the ranger station and just park on the grass to the left of the entrance driveway and we'll meet there before 10:30,give folks a few minutes, then head in for an hour or so. It helps if folks can bring lunch and just take a break in the woods. But if you have to leave,go for it.You might have a hard time finding us after,so maybe score a map at the ranger station. The topographical map is a little costly, like around $15,but I got one and now consider myself nearly an expert on the place. Just can't screw up with the topo. And I'm a map freak. JSYK that other diner probably has cuter waitresses but they have a small parking lot that fills up fast,as we've noticed around breakfast and lunch.
  15. gee,I wish I'd thought of that Hey,here's the latest.Sorry, but delays take time you know. :-p THIS SATURDAY!!!! OCTOBER 14th the day after Friday the 13th! You are invited to join me in the land of the infamous Jersey Devil!!! Woooooo, scary!!!! As of this moment I will have our '89 touring wagon.I'm going into this EXPECTING THE WORST.The car has rot, loosing the carrier bearing makeshift support I put on.Gonna need all the duct tape and coat hangers I can muster up. Meet at the Red Lion Diner?? Intersection of Rt. 206 and rt.70....or down the road there's a diner closer to the ranger station at Atsion WHERE WE MEET BEFORE GOING INTOTHE WOODS.There's a huge grassy area to park on and put the hoods up,etc. wait a bit for the gang to show up. Everyone should bring a tow strap, maybe a shovel,a board, etc. for the possibility that you'll get a little stuck in sand.Nobody is going to call you a nerd for being well prepared. My son and I might camp out the night before.I'll update that info near the end of the week.Anyone else? It's only a little over 2 hours from Bridgeport,CT as long as you leave early. Wharton State Forest-Atsion ranger's station Rt. 206 in Atsion NJ if you can't make the diner..........10 AM -10:30AM Email or PM for cell phone # exchange.
  16. Yes,it's different. Put the car back in the barn and I swear one of us,hopefully ME,will get it. :) Patrick,I've got lots of NEW parts for the ff-1 if you do want to get serious about it.Nothing is handy right now so I can't promise anything.I can tell you that there was a whole carb. somewhere in that mess of new old stock we bought. And there's a carb top and parts and probably a rebuild kit too. There's a lot of ff-1 parts that went to Charlie who chipped in on the lot. He's got a '71 wagon like yours but he put a 1300 into it a long time ago. I'll talk to you some more about it soon.
  17. Maybe a western market GL marker from '72-75.It looks to be the same shape and location from my first view.Just all orange. Not going to be easy but there's got to be a couple out there still.Don't give up just yet.
  18. Hi everybody! Yeah, that's my '78.thanks Jerry for posting those nice finds you came across!! That winch in front has been redone and I should have shown it off by now. It's now yellow, like the original winch that was on it untill a couple days before I got the car. Good luck with the new purchase!! Plenty of help for you,and some parts too. I used to take mine to construction sites for awhile.Gets respect there.Fully functional vintage money maker.:-p
  19. Yeah, for 4WD unfortunately that's a case splitter if it's the main shaft seal.Looking at the manual makes me want to rip one apart.Sooner or later I'll be needing mine done too. I'm pretty sure you can search for an '80 1600 4WD too,if you search online.Just have to make sure it's the top starter.
  20. Yeah, but I'm thinking we might not be able to do it untill the following weekend, let me check. That being the case the date would be Saturday October 21st. Would that work for you guys? Nothing set in stone yet,so let me check about the 14th and if that works for us I hope it does for you guys too. 14th or 21st Matt,Dave, other PA people??? Mike in NJ? Frank? CT people?? NY guys??
  21. I was going to ask but it seems you answered.....yours is 4WD already, right? I'm pretty sure Todd meant that if you have the old four speed FWD tranny that an upgrade would be the 5spd FWD from a GL,or Coupe, etc.
  22. This is one of those RARE finds in the northeast. The kind I used to get before I got old and responsible. .....well,old anyway.
