  1. Right on!!! Nothing like knowing you don't have to go through emissions again with a vehicle. We've got two that are good for life, but Connie hopefully is going to take her GLF back and keep it going since it's "good for life".
  2. Where's the hotties and some shots of the river? Guinness has two N's Corky. Glad to see you guys had a good time and made it home in one piece.
  3. Just went out in the slight drizzle of a rain and got that done. Looks healthy to me. I used the regular EA82 fan which to me seems better.....any thoughts on that? The radiator JUST makes it with the pulley shimmed out like it is and using the N/A fan.Once its set in place there's plenty enough room.Noticably closer, but not enough to make me wet my pants. Thanks again guys.Something new for an old R & R dog.
  4. thanks guys,it's a dealer pump,so no extra washer. Will proceed without fear or hesitation!
  5. I see no alternative.Has anyone else done this? The water pump I installed on my turbo engine is the standard EA82 pump. Turbos use a different pump which holds the fan pulley out another half inch or so towards the radiator. All my other pulleys line up but this new pump would have the last pulley out of line by about a half inch towards the rear of the car. I went and bought longer studs and some washers to space it.Going to attack it later and see how it looks.Meanwhile if you've done this can you please give me a little peace of mind and let me know how it worked out.I'm concerned about the fan tilting should it loosen up or not be torqued equally.I'd hate to ruin the really nice radiator I have. BTW,I did search and could not find a similar thread. Thanks
  6. Check back in a month or so.There might be one left for you.
  7. Hey guys, let's please limit the useless posts to as close to zero as possible. Most of us don't have time to waste looking at your crying or moaning.Post something substancial, please. Also, please understand some of our rules here that get brushed aside occasionally. Avatars are supposed to be related to cars,Subarus, and not much else.PLEASE read the rules and alter your avatar if necessary.Or the avatar nazis will come to find you.:-\ And please use the eBay/Craigslist Forum for those posts.Yes,I realize that those vehicles pertain to the Historic Forum but if someone can click here becasue they love Vintage subarus then they can click the eBay/Craigslist Forum too. Have a nice day.
  8. Bogus, trash that paint. Be ready to accept opinions like mine when you ask for them.
  9. Connie, was that what you called about? Damned if I wasn't struggling myself with the rear brake drum on a Brighton Legacy P.I.A. Good luck with it.
  10. You pm or email me and I'll let you know what parts you have. How about the radiators? I just bought one off of eBay,naturally.:-\ I'd put that carb on eBay if I were you. Of course,if you want to cut me a deal for helping you with the part numbers..... ...... What color is the box the carb is in?If it's the old black, red, and white it'll probably be for the early 70's PM or email moosens at yahoo.com
  11. Stage II 1977 and 1978 have quad lights for Brats.
  12. Two things I'd like Subaru and Subaru of America to have the balls to do is to bring back a 1600 for the American/westernworld market, and bring back an on demand mechanically engaged dual range 4WD tranny. The 1600 we've always considerd the real work pony of the herd.1100's good,1300's excellent but about to lose ground,1400's problematic,1600's the ANSWER.For me,life pauses there.I've come to use and abuse the 1800's but never warmed up to them like I have to the 1600.There's a certain old world tech, antiquity about them but they were leaps ahead of the 1400's and those previous.Any 1600 is a great engine in my opinion. The FE with the higher compression, etc.,and special gearing made even more sense of it all.A dual carb set-up 1600,yummy. 1600, the end. I'll end this with that famous quote from my wife,on the cell phone, calling me from her '96 Legacy coming back from the Carlisle Import/Kit Show with me running up front in my 1600 1978 4WD wagon with a buggered speedometer...."I'm doing 90 and I'm losing you...can you please slow down?"
  13. Delete my name soon and add Bucky92. Busting butt to get the GLF back to her.Soon to turn 25!!! Cheap insurance!!
  14. Harry's and some of the other smaller yards in PA.Well, after Harry's they're ALL smaller. Might try F & S in Waterbury,CT but they're often expensive.Save you a longer drive though. If you want to head in the other direction contact "junkyardGabe" who helps run a yard in Lisbon Falls/Freeport Maine right near L.L.Bean and crap the ladies love, outlet stores 'n bead shops 'n stuff.Good run to keep women happy while you hustle some parts.Contact him,he'll let you know what he has.Search members above. Hate to tell you this but you and a lot of other people missed tons of EA81 stuff I tossed out and gave away. There's some pockets of older Subarus up here, but few and far between. We have an '82 GLF registered right now.Turns 25 in January!Already passed emissions for the last time it needs to,walks into "Antique" status soon, like yours. "Bucky92" will be taking it over into the Classic era.
  15. Or they could be 70's radiators. This is from a manual printed in 1987 for the 70's. p/n's = 645010180,645010491 for automatic,645010470 or 645010460.... This one was from a 1980 FPM: p/n = 745111040 and 745111050 Hope that helps, good luck.Note the sides, that'll tell you which production it is. Good luck with the Karma game too.I did that and you'll still get a good kick in the teeth sooner or later no matter how nice you try to be.
  16. I'm sure that's true in a few cases, but hey, there's several kits here and I only own two vintage Subarus right now.You guys will be welcome to some of them,I'm sure. Meanwhile, anybody know anything about the individual parts, their function, etc.? I haven't gotten to ask the older guys yet.
  17. Soon, very soon I hope.Registered the white wagon today, passed emissions, but it's leaking and getting too hot at times.Have to work tomorrow,so give me some time. We'll talk over the weekend. What about Rory and my turbo wagons?Any word? They'll be moved to Andrew's this weekend or next because it's CRUNCH time.
  18. I've got the FSM out and can see no fabric cover or joint, etc. Is it down on the steering gearbox on the passenger side end?
  19. Hey Connie, when did you start driving an Audi?:-p Think positive thoughts,I'm going for emissions on the white PA eBay wagon tomorrow. It stopped smoking (see desperation/panic "Need SPFI")post. If it passes and I can afford to register it you'll get Lucky back very soon,if you still want it. I drove Lucky tonight to go see my dad in the hospital. It ran fine, and my dad is doing good too.Hang tight and I'll be in touch soon. Meanwhile,Mr.Wonderful Rory hasn't gotten back to me,apparently does not have the same cell phone or isn't using it,so if you can tap him on the shoulder maybe he'll come grab those turbo wagons. Thanks
  20. Be sure to fill out a post of desires in the "Wish List" thread. Please consider printing it and helpng others within the community as you can. We'll do the same.I take that thread seriously so whatever you post I'll print out and help you out as I can.
