  1. Don’t believe the seller in their post about a mythical $150 transmission from a yard in CT
  2. Considering this: https://newhaven.craigslist.org/pts/d/north-haven-parting-running-2005-subaru/7385615768.html Have 124k automatic from a 2000 Legacy GT wagon. Thanks Not the best time for me to take on a project but this one seems worth considering.
  3. 6211 08170 for the front for the control arm pivot. 7210 47000 for the rear INNER Outer has two part numbers 7210 47070 and 7210 58060 the latter appears to be for the models the former does not cover. You copy that ? So the latter applies to Brat and wagons as best as I can tell.
  4. Yes !!!! Somehow I just put a little brute force and ignorance into it. It was the drivers side that was hung up. Not sure how or what caused it but I wiggled and jiggled and after I pulled my pants back up it came loose ! LOL And right elbow says thanks as does the dog. She loves to ride sitting on that pad rubbing up against me. Thanks for the support ! Dad is doing ok , should be in the hospital another day as they check him over.
  5. Last time I tried to post a FB link it asked you to sign in. It’s just two screws per side. I had thought for sure that there was also a clip or two but according to the drawing and parts list it’s just two screws. FB is not for me but I use it to my advantage and stay the F away from the majority of that BS. Attention seekers galore. Pity seekers too, and more unhealthy comments from the crumbs of society. Sorry but that’s my opinion. If you dare to join FB it’s there in the USMB group. https://m.facebook.com/groups/UltimateSubaruMessageBoard/permalink/4492587204137074/?m_entstream_source=group&ref=bookmarks
  6. That’s 2 screws per side pardon my earlier post No I do not have the catalog in E form.
  7. So that’s the end of the carb run. Mid 1987 production. How’s the accelerator pump look ? Front of carb with rubber boot. The new fuel eats those up depending on what you gas up with. Just a thought. May not be related but generally check the carb over because the newer fuels are like mice on cheese to your rubber boot and gaskets and seals. Ok that’s an exaggeration but you know what I mean. Read about it on vintage machine sites. Also check your distributor for play. And age has a way of doing in the intake manifold gaskets. But you’d see a mist out the exhaust if that were the case. Seems like you found a “pull along”. Was it an RV tug-around ? Or an older lady car ? We also once had a 26k car. Old lady car. Have fun , enjoy !
  8. Yes I posted the pages of the factory parts catalog on the USMB Facebook page. It’s FOUR screws.
  9. Right on ! So my dad (nearly 93) had issues today and I had to take him to the hospital and never got myself looked at. As mentioned , live for another day !
  10. Ok I have the Brat parts manual here. Pretty sure I’ve used up my picture/data allotment but will attempt a pics later. It shows 4 screws with 4 screw grommets as they are called. No other clips shown so pardon my earlier post. Screws p/n 0453 04205 Grommet p/n 7910 33030 and they call that sucker an Air Vent Grill. Enjoy !
  11. Old BrusBro couldn’t figger it out either. Wow Larry , that’s a doozie! Hope you folks are all healed well or on a good path. Have to go today and get looked at.
  12. Thanks all. It appears the right side link is what’s stuck. And flashing a light through that slit doesn’t show me anything blocking it’s path. But the hinge feels free enough , same for the left side link. Yeah I’m that typical guy about pain. Work through it mentality. BrusBro has offered his eyes and hands as well to assist. Might be seeing our man in a while. We’ll see if we can synch up.
  13. Thanks , yeah it seems like I’m ok but I did get that initial shock straight up and down the spine. Feeling some tightness in the lower back and abdomen. Just what I don’t need right now. Or anytime. Just the stupid process now of X-rays , therapy , blah blah blah Have the minimum insurance so I’ll have to go after the other party directly. So that means an attorney. Contingency works well enough but just dealing with more people , not big on my list. And you have to go through the Physical Therapy game. But getting better is priority. Just know I’ll be screwed on the car somehow. Old days I had made out well most of the time. Now , not so sure how it’s going to work out.
  14. So here’s where it’s at with this puppy. After tightening the front exhaust the next one back the donut flange seems ok enough too. But I’m getting the Check Engine light , first solid then maybe after some time it’ll start flashing. Read my manual , after checking the fuel filler cap and the usual culprits I decided to drive it as the owners manual says it may take several driving’s to clear it out. Drives ok , a little choppy at idle but does what it needs to for highway and city driving. It’s a five speed so a little easier to manage. Went to AutoZone and the young lady read the OBD2 and then trying two computers inside still could not get their device to synch or whatever so I abandoned that having made contact with my brother who will be loaning his reader/etc to me. Going to treat it like any older Subaru and just keep running it unless it truly coughs and wheezes.
  15. I just can’t see any obstructions. And I got hit from a tailgater while driving it. I think it’s time I cut the 2.2 and related ECU etc from the car and have the engine live on in a project car. Just frustrated at the moment. Good car , love it , just suddenly seems to be taking a beating. Rant over. Any idea on the center console lid not wanting to close? Read above. Thanks
  16. I’m thinking there’s a couple or so press in anchors there too. Use a flat blade like a putty knife and be gentle. Been a while since I’ve owned one. Check around and maybe there’s a factory parts catalog online that’ll show you. I don’t have mine handy.
  17. Plenty of sad moments to owning a vintage car that you also want to operate often. Tires are going to be harder to acquire. Parts - very hard. Shops won’t work in it. All that said guys like us still want to enjoy having the ride and feel our strong appreciation will drive us somehow to be able to show the world that YES we can own and drive a vintage Subaru! Just think about getting stuck in bad traffic , or a situation where the cars are traveling fast. And you’re the guy in the car that can’t get out of its own way let alone theirs. People aren’t always kind to older cars like you may think. At shows or on occasions yes. But as driver , not really. Just saying it had better be able to function 100% Tough call at your age. It’s great to see such enthusiasm from you. I wish you luck. Soon enough you’ll be able to make your own calls. Maybe hop on an XT group and keep track of issues , prices , and availability. The XT is unique, and fun. And rare now. You knew that. Lol Enjoy !
  18. 1990-94 Legacy in general. We also have a “Ti” model here - Outdoor Sport edition. There’s nothing different about the ignition being a Ti from the other 90-94’s I was able to find a New Old Stock assembly on eBay but that was probably 10 years ago. I don’t have the part number at this moment. Will try to find it. Word of advice - don’t have lots of weight on your keychain.
  19. Yikes ! yeah , I’m sure he knows it’s a parts car. But here in CT things are a bit flukey for lack of a better word. The fellow from the valley could likely take the car and make it roadworthy all the while our DMV would never know it was inoperable. We don’t have inspections. Do have emissions. Over 25 years old exempt. It’s kind of easy for folks here to keep or put and older car on the road. I have a 2000 automatic from a GT wagon if that helps you out. It’s in Milford easy to get to. Folks like F & S or guys who are working with them will have parts cars they can cut out of and flip it for $3k now. Well , before the tranny issue. They have those too. Little extra work , $4k Good luck.
  20. Oh man try living my life and talk about sleep deprivation....causes me to make mistakes too. And losing vocabulary, slow recall, etc. I don’t think you want to hack job that rear strut tower. You’re doing the right thing now. Selling it off. At its age it’s consuming oil and you really don’t need to let on. Just say it uses oil like older Subarus do. You’re not screwing anybody because you should expect that. If not then they don’t know enough about older Subarus. My opinion. If it’s something outrageous like losing a quart or more per week then maybe just scrap the whole thing. And sell whatever works if it’s worth your time. Saw the posting , looks good enough to me for $600 or whatever. At your price it’s a decent parts car or a fixer to a guy with the right parts sitting around. Only issue there is this being CT the low end users like myself are few these days.
  21. Something has it jammed apparently on the passenger side. I can feel the left link still a bit loose but the right link is still as can be. I don’t want to force it. Haven’t had a real moment to focus on this so I’ve been cruising with the top open and my right elbow wants the lid closed. Nothing I can see with my eyes. Anybody have this happen ? It’s the lid that flips towards the rear. Not the side flipper on the 90-91s
  22. Wow I suck sometimes. Or maybe the two nuts just worked their way off because I didn’t tighten them. But yeah , front leak not behind the Y or at least this one is quite obvious. Should have it buttoned up later today or very soon. Was mostly a decent job this engine swap. But the crap with being a bit rushed at the end just bit me in the tail. As life goes. Focus ! We all do our best. Should have gone around twice or more checking things over.
