moosens replied to fnlyfnd's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX
Sounds like you've got someone in town. I'm in B'pt but it's kind of late. Options for Wed. AM: Milford Auto Recyclers if you can get yourself out to exit 35 off I-95.Call them first, obviously, but they will likely have something that will help you. Dan Perkins Subaru also off exit 35 in Milford,****talk to John in the PARTS DEPT.**** he will help you. They are right next to M.A.R. too. Plenty of local parts stores. I'll PM you my phone number, but once the day begins I might not be able to come help you out....but I can talk for a couple minutes at least.Leave a message and number if I don't answer. -
Getting to be about that time. And time for a PA yard run!!!!

What is a good repair manual for a 78 Brat?
moosens replied to Subieguy's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Factory Service Manuals are often found on eBay for well under $20. HTKYSA is on eBay right now for like $.99 starting bid,I believe. -
Need to stop the oil leaks in my 78 Brat
moosens replied to Subieguy's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
One good thing to do it to have it cleaned and then see exactly where the leaks are coming from. Just because you don't see coolant doesn't mean you don't need headgaskets.Valve cover gaskets for sure, you can count on them being soaked at the bottom and dripping a little.Oil pump and seals, get them while you can. If you smell gear oil dripping onto your exhaust you'll likely need the seals that go around the stub axles on the differential. Good luck with it. -
I'll be sure to register at least one car even if I don't go....only because it helps Matt. ...and the community at large.

Why NOT to use a forklift to lift a car!
moosens replied to RallyKeith's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
OK,here's the story.I just talked to him. He was showing it off to his neighbors....went to lunch with it in the air.(scary thought getting more scary).Hydraulics fail, car goes south....no pun intended,Bubba. He wants me to call back later, and I might. But the dash is wasted, instrument cluster too. -
Clock connector? Gen 1 wagon question
moosens replied to cricket's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
I'm sure I have an extra one buried....so....if time goes by.....and you still can't find one......ask me sometime later this summer. My things are in tight storage right now. I need a rear view mirror, not side views, the one inside the car,for my '78 wagon if you have an extra. -
My car looks surreal in that pic. Thanks Connie.

secondary air cleaner ?
moosens replied to subiemech85's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Where is it located? Do you mean the canister for the evaporative system? I know that you know these cars pretty well.I've never called any other filter a seconday. -
?? confused as to where it goes, 11/79
moosens replied to subiemech85's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Yeah,a little more info, please,so we know whether to throw stones at you or not.:-p Brats up to 1981 model year are Historic. Cars after model year 1979 are "Older Generation" even with an EA71 But hey, nobody's going to make you feel not welcome here.Right guys? EA71's after 1979 are "wide case" with a different water crossover, and slightly different air injection fittings. Give us a shot.Whatcha got? -
Clock connector? Gen 1 wagon question
moosens replied to cricket's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
red,blue,green,and red/yellow wires.....if that's what you see then YES,it's for the clock. -
THe one that came with my car, before I took possession of it,was yellow.I think it's a Warn(?),maybe a Reese...but that one never made it to me.The previous owner traded it just before I got the car. So,EZap sent an orangeish-red one to me.It bolts right up,so maybe it's the same, not sure. Mine is not funtional at this time, but the wiring is still there from the original install. Kids point at it all the time.People like seeing my '78 but then they see the winch it totally tickles them.
