  1. dat b dem ......a little pricey but I might go for a set for the '73 Coupe. That's why I approached the seller about a group buy.So far he replied once when I asked for a deal for my personal use (a set of stage I and a set of stage II),but he shot that down.Didn't hear back from asking about the group buy at all so I guess we'll take that as a NO for now. Perhaps once he lists these for a long time and realizes there's only a handfull of buyers for them he'll get realistic on pricing. there was a set before, and then a single right after.I don't think it was this seller though.Anyhow,I bid with a board member (garner,I believe) and dropped out letting him get them agaist another bidder for around $125 each if I recall rightly. Then the next week or so another one came up and I got it for like $15,no B/S!! It was more for shipping than the fender.I can probably research it and get the seller's info but I'm sure that guy only had that one. I think if several of us were actually interested and ALL emailed the guy stating that we're serious but only for $XX each, then we'd get somewhere. But,it seems that there's no real cohesion here in the vintage Subaru world.
  2. I just saw it ended at like $1300 and change,a little less than double but still a good price for the buyer. If I were the seller I'd be slightly disappointed. My '76 with 37k sold for $2000 a couple of years ago. That car now sits totally restored in a dealership in Sweden. I recognize the buyer's name. He's one of us,at least has been through here,I'm almost sure of it.
  3. I'd disagree on this one. The foam strip Subaru used between the fender and the unibody acted like a sponge, held water, and rusted the tops of every fender from Tuscon to Tewksbury and back. That was how we scored 6 year old Subarus for under $800 from the late 70's through the late 80's. The rest of the body might not be bad at all,you need to look. But judging only from the tops of the fenders would be a mistake. I have not seen pictures of the underside of this car,but I'd suspect it's totally worth saving.
  4. Well, first thing,WELCOME. We were just talking about '71's and ff1's There's a minor demand for ANY but virtually none seem to exist here in the States. There's probably only a handfull left. Is yours a wagon? Unfortunately the only person with any recently here on this board was a guy with 3 of them rotting away in Alabama. That was at least two years ago.As we know it they went to scrap or back to earth. You have a grand challenge ahead of you.Good luck and please keep us posted on progress and needs. There is one 1971 ff1 wagon here in CT that a friend of mine owns. He's not a board member, unfortunately. His is in running condition but not driven. There was a small lot of parts and tools available from Ed Parsil who owns the 360 Club.He posted them here.I told my friend but he still hasn't acted on them.So if you get in touch with Ed sooner they will likely be yours.Probably one of the last stashes of parts like this you find. Here, you're going to like this: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=41509 Click on his name and you'll be able to contact him. I need to see what he has for my '73 too.
  5. Just becasue my name is in the subject title, and just because Russ and I were almost working out a transport deal with Mudrat many months ago,I feel I should inform you all that I intend to pass on this matter. Enjoy! Let me know if it becomes parted, please.
  6. I'll call John and see if he'll come through like he offered. THere's a possibility another board member might be able to grap it and bring it east in a couple of months. If it needs to be gone sooner maybe a slight change in plans. Russ,I'll call you too.I have to run out for the night but I'll call on Saturday if you don't hear from me tonight. Thanks
  7. Thanks again for the help today/tonight,Andrew!!!Whoohooo!!!
  8. Call me as soon as you want to,but at least after 6AM,please. There's no snow or freezing rain to worry about.Let's do it and do it quick.I can't get the touring wagon, sorry.Best I can do is the '78 or the GLF.
  9. Sorry, what I didn't say was IF you had a good drop in engine here then it'd be worth it to get the solid body. With all that mileage on it you'd better have a plug 'n play engine ready. Matt is right though,if you REALLY hunt you can still find them with minimal rust, but they aren't getting any easier to find up here.
  10. Got mine at the last minute. Thanks,Andrew.Have a great celebration of your choosing. Monday?????????????? :brow:
  11. I would LOVE to find a company that'll ship a car across the country for $500 so PLEASE let us know if you get ANYONE to bring that car from the west coast to Scranton for $500. My personal opinion is it'll be at least $800. Sure you can find one just like it around Pottsville,etc....but it'll be rotting from the underside...I think you know that,so you're smart to look into the long haul. I know there's some people that'll take my remarks are sarcastic but I really mean it when I ask to please let us know if you find cheap and reliable transport for a cross country effort.Gas prices didn't come down that much. Before they went up you'd get quotes of well over $1000 from most companies, and I'm just about 120 miles further east than you. I think if the car is less than $800 it's worth it but that's me.If your acceptable spending cap is around $2,200 then you'd probably be happy in the long run. 88 and 89 are the BEST years for the D/R,the best tranny ever. Good luck.
  12. Tailgatewagon has an early FPM .....but,I just looked and the backup light is on the gatebumper.Looks like something off a 60's Yamaha That's the wagon for ya.... Here's the 71 sedan:
  13. Well,of course I'm flatterd and all.I really wish I could have gone already, sure hated to turn you down. You guys are the best,I know that, and I know I probably belong out there way the healthrisk away from the Beast Coast.... Planning,*JUST* planning,a 2007 west coast trip to gather somethings up and shake all the hands.Hahahahaha, maybe I'll get my wheels from Mudrat. No sweat Johnny,I won't join the hound pack just yet.Geez,I wish I could go help him out too.Just no babysitting!! Hey,how about my list huh??? What am I up to now? 19 states and a Polock!! I waited to join in on this thread but I'm starting to really like it.I open the members list in another window when I have time and add some old members I'd forgotten about.I know I'm going to hit 20 states..... Man this board has,for the most part, been just awsome as far as meeting good folks!!! People that are 3000 miles away want me to come over and hang out,how friggin cool is that?
  14. Well,.....told ya Edit on the way... Eric,All that stuff to you too my friend!!!!!!! Dammit you were so freakin, kinda close.....Pushing for a west coast 2007 visit.
  15. I'm pretty sure the M series was from '74 - '77 stage I.It's shown in the '74 Auto Trans SM Hope that helps. If that tranny was the "A" then I'm guessing the M41 was the Japanese version. That looks like any stage I auto that I can recall, doesn't it?

  17. Well if you guys never saw this before in my other posts then you're in for a surprize. There's a 1971 splitgate ff1 wagon right here in CT,still in running condition. It's a non board member that owns it.He's met Connie, and a couple others. Oh Andrew,I think he said he dropped a 1300 into it but it came with an 1100. Forget about it!! He ain't sellin'. Brian,if you can hold any ff1 parts for me I'll make the connection. My friend is also WAY overdue to contact Ed Parsil of the 360 club for a whole mess of ff1 parts. My friend doesn't do much computer action. FourGuzzis had some rotting away in Alabama, but they returned to earth. I'm sure at least one more will turn up somewhere.
  18. Bump minus the '73 I'm very proud to say that a board member is very interested in the '78 and agrees the price is fair.
  19. Mick,Can you pass along a price? I'll pass it along to a non board member. He has an ff1 wagon.Do they work for him?
  20. I think we're passing on the coverlay,so I edited the subject title. Todd reports many issues with them anyways,so we're concentrating our efforts on dashmats.
  21. I'll bump this thread up occasionally untill just before springtime when it's probably the best time to approach the potential seller. Looks like we're tossing the dash coverlays to the bin. Thanks again to Todd for his reporting on the issues with those. THose dash mats are fine enough as long as you have a nice dash to protect. Perhaps another thread on dash repair in the future???
