  1. Thanks Connie,I'm so broke it ain't funny right now. Can't wait to sell this place.I'll getcha back, you know that.
  2. ...in flying colors,I might add!!! Not bad for a car almost 25 years old.Lucky's birthdate is something like 10/81....it's an '82 GLF coupe, and it's now officially on the Connecticut roads on a daily basis. That was too easy. But I ain't complainin'. Less than 15 miutes total from pulling into the garage to driving off with a smile. See you at Connie's on Saturday!
  3. Sometime in the next month or two I plan on hitting some eastern PA yards. If you'd like to meet up,we usually have a great time hitting at least 2 yards. This trip I'm mostly interested in a yard in Auburn PA and then maybe hit Harry's in Hazelton if the "pre-game report" declares it worthy,or Ringgold,or whatever you guys suggest. Faust in Allentown is decent too,and there's a Harry's there too. Long day,it starts early, lots of walking...bring food,water,coffee,etc... I'll leave the Bridgeport CT area around 6AM on whatever Saturday we choose.Meet up along the way as you can,if you can or meet at the yards.Always helps having multiple hands. All for one and ONE FOR ALL. ...so uhh, toss out some dates!!! >
  4. Kicking it around.Off roading on sandy trails through tight passes most of the time. Some water, nothing too crazy, usually. We usually meet at the Red Lion Diner at the intersection of Rts. 70 and 206 around 9-9:30AM.Enter the Wharton State Forest at the Atsion ranger station, park outside is we're waiting on someone, then hit the trails. Mick comes to Philly early in October.Maybe we can talk him into coming out early, make a day of it with the midwest legend himself. The last run was a blast! Never mind the ONE lame picture Frank took.We blasted through those trails and snorted tons of sand dust.Must have glass blasted my lungs.Bring some dust protection if it's still dry! If Mick can't make the weekend what dates are best?
  5. Get it....again. Nice move to the Historic forum.
  6. Is there a double V or even a triple V pulley for the EA81 water pump? I have an EA81 automatic with the A/C belt rubbing on the head of the bell shaped pulley on the water pump.Mick mentioned a tensioner pulley but I can't think of where it goes.I have the funky bracketry where you have to tension the A/C unit first, then the alternator on a shared bracket. Thanks for any help.
  7. You squeaking on Bucky is because the defrosted also uses the A/C....pop the hood, hit the defroster and go see what's happening. It could be the idle pulley is frozen,or sticking. OK back to Lucky Le Coupe...yes,it sounds like I need some pulley or something....basically the belt furthest forward (A/C) rubs agains the bell shaped pulley of the W/P.The way I looked at it,if that W/P pulley was a double or so it's work perfect.I've owned and worked on these EA81's with eh power steering,A/C,and Alt. belts before.I just can't remember another pulley to keep the A/C belt off the W/P pulley head. Hey Connie, can you toss me a set of those EA81 valve cover gaskets (cork) that I hooked you up with?Mine are all buried, but you knew that. Lucky Le Coupe will be in the house Saturday. If I get time I'd like to do a valve adjust.
  8. A moderator for this forum has to do it.I'm a mod in the Historic but have no power to do anything here in thie forum...so breath easy everybody.
  9. Jesse with the killer gun!!! Man I gotta git me one uh dem.... Gonna be a good day...let's get in our minds the less than wonderful scenario....if it is raining, can we rig a tarp, maybe even before the rain? That way we can have a dry area for Bucky's attendees. But,why should it rain??We'll see. Connie, anything but anchovies and boiled spinach is cool for me. We'll talk about Friday night on the phone, tomorrow or Thursday....Lucky goes for emissions tomorrow.I expect to fail but no biggie,I'll get it reay for the re-try and pass then....I hope.Wish me luck, who knows maybe it'll squeak by tomorrow. Hey,if there's going to be Jesse,Me,Matt, and Dave with tools, then we should consider some other projects,in my opinion. We don't need four guys knocking heads. How about some brake work while two guys work the engine out,or something like that??And when the engine/tranny come out maybe drain the tranny, does it have the removeable screen filter?...maybe clean the engine bay out??Just making the most hay while the sun shines. Does anyone have any EA81 exhaust part they can toss me...since you love me so much:lol: ?? I could use a mid section for the '82 coupe, automatic.
  10. Put this over in the Historic Forum, please.I can't do it.
  11. Pay for itself in the first month or so of use!!! Get it!!!!
  12. Check the timing lately? Check all vacuum lines too. Did you have a lot of rust come out when you did the fuel pumps? If both cars are 2wd then I think the bumper will fit.And they need to both be Stage I or II.
  13. Yikes, that carb was dirty, but it cleaned up real nice and quick...just looked yucky...waaaaaagh!.... I just took an old filter off tonight. It had the same undercoating on as the car....yikes! I ran a bottle of CD2 in the case for the ride up to Milford, drained and changed. Still blowing that smoke.
  14. Ahh,so this answers the question about the waterpump...ignore the other post.Looks like you scored the wrong one but I'll live.Somebody will have one before next summer.
  15. Ahhhh,so that's what happened.....or is the water pump on the GLF one that someone else did? Yes,I need that larger double pulley...looks almost like it could be a triple pulley form the power steering,W/P,A/C and alternator.I'm flipping a lot of rubber around there.I tensioned them up nice the other night and the outer A/C driver hits that bell shaped pulley of the water pump and makes the A/C belt make Three Stooges noises....but hey, fall is here.Just getting the last of the warm stuff now. Connie,do you have those valve cover gaskets around?
  16. Pour a strong one. Order in,parts will be here by the weekend for sure. COOL!!!! I'll cover the parts and we'll chip it off my tab for the GLF. Mary,if you don't mind a haul consider our PA yard run or Pine Barrens meet coming up. I'll be whippin up some posts soon.Mick near Philly in early October.I wonder if we can get hjim to come into town the Friday before his Moday-Wed. schedule....THAT'D be cool!
  17. JUST got his correct phone number since he moved, today! I'll call him tomorrow later in the day. He's at another Subaru dealer, thankfully. He left my local dealer for Mercedes, but lucky for our side it didn't work out. This guy is THE GREATEST.I'll stack his Subaru knowledge against the entire SOA's current staff. Feel free to call me tomorrow night if you have time, say after 8PM my time.
  18. Welcome! Sounds like another old lady special just rolled into someone else's hands....very cool! What colors is it in and out? Yes,you probably have a rotting tank. Which model is it?Wagon, sedan,or coupe? I have a tank for coupes, and sedans tucked away.I won't be able to get to it for a while though.
  19. Oh man, talk about asking the wrong guy to remind you of something... I'll try. Got pen and paper?
  20. Yes,Pat,thanks.I just got it all sorted out even thought I failed to get sunlight involved.:-p Tools still around, they're nice 'n safe in my alarmed storage hole.I'll get them out to you for Christmas. ...or much sooner. Cheers
  21. Cool the tube, heat the block.Make hole slightly larger and tube slightly shrunken. Just my thought if it were my dilema and nobody around to beat up for information.Let us know what path you take and the outcome, please.I'm waiting to get in touch with a master tech about this issue of removal and insertion of that tube.
  22. I think the last 1400's were in '75.Maybe '76 but by '77 you had only the 1600,for the US.
  23. Thanks for any help. What I'd like is any vacuum hose diagram for a 1982 GLF Automatic EA81. Basically, what I really want to know is why there's no hose going to a particular junction near the distributor, but NOT the distributor vacuumitself. It's down near the intake.I'll need some more daylight, without rain this time, thank you,to get a better description.
  24. Might be a two trip day for me.I might bring Luc to ease things on my wife and just work, eat, and split. Then return sans child, and party. Let me know on that list ASAP.I'm going to call with the rest on Monday. They will need 3 days or so since the east coast doesn't have all the old parts so much anymore. When I had him order EA81 stuff three years ago it took almost a week. Our EA82's are now in the same league.I'll be they don't even stock our air and oil filters anymore. Calll me sometime before Monday afternoon to go over the list.Thanks.
  25. Glad you're "home" safe.We know you belong here with us, ,see you next time.I hope you can make a run to Pine Barrens with us sometime.Send dippy blondes!!!!I'll take a 24 pack of those.
