Water Pump and BIG Thank You
moosens replied to Bucky92's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Ahhhh,so that's what happened.....or is the water pump on the GLF one that someone else did? Yes,I need that larger double pulley...looks almost like it could be a triple pulley form the power steering,W/P,A/C and alternator.I'm flipping a lot of rubber around there.I tensioned them up nice the other night and the outer A/C driver hits that bell shaped pulley of the water pump and makes the A/C belt make Three Stooges noises....but hey, fall is here.Just getting the last of the warm stuff now. Connie,do you have those valve cover gaskets around? -
Another CT Cook-Out...Anyone up 4 it?

Pour a strong one. Order in,parts will be here by the weekend for sure. COOL!!!! I'll cover the parts and we'll chip it off my tab for the GLF. Mary,if you don't mind a haul consider our PA yard run or Pine Barrens meet coming up. I'll be whippin up some posts soon.Mick near Philly in early October.I wonder if we can get hjim to come into town the Friday before his Moday-Wed. schedule....THAT'D be cool! -
JUST got his correct phone number since he moved, today! I'll call him tomorrow later in the day. He's at another Subaru dealer, thankfully. He left my local dealer for Mercedes, but lucky for our side it didn't work out. This guy is THE GREATEST.I'll stack his Subaru knowledge against the entire SOA's current staff. Feel free to call me tomorrow night if you have time, say after 8PM my time.

Welcome! Sounds like another old lady special just rolled into someone else's hands....very cool! What colors is it in and out? Yes,you probably have a rotting tank. Which model is it?Wagon, sedan,or coupe? I have a tank for coupes, and sedans tucked away.I won't be able to get to it for a while though. -

Oh man, talk about asking the wrong guy to remind you of something... I'll try. Got pen and paper? -
Cool the tube, heat the block.Make hole slightly larger and tube slightly shrunken. Just my thought if it were my dilema and nobody around to beat up for information.Let us know what path you take and the outcome, please.I'm waiting to get in touch with a master tech about this issue of removal and insertion of that tube.

moosens replied to RenaissanceMan's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
I think the last 1400's were in '75.Maybe '76 but by '77 you had only the 1600,for the US. -
Thanks for any help. What I'd like is any vacuum hose diagram for a 1982 GLF Automatic EA81. Basically, what I really want to know is why there's no hose going to a particular junction near the distributor, but NOT the distributor vacuumitself. It's down near the intake.I'll need some more daylight, without rain this time, thank you,to get a better description.

Might be a two trip day for me.I might bring Luc to ease things on my wife and just work, eat, and split. Then return sans child, and party. Let me know on that list ASAP.I'm going to call with the rest on Monday. They will need 3 days or so since the east coast doesn't have all the old parts so much anymore. When I had him order EA81 stuff three years ago it took almost a week. Our EA82's are now in the same league.I'll be they don't even stock our air and oil filters anymore. Calll me sometime before Monday afternoon to go over the list.Thanks. -

Yeah,I'll be up there kind of early but not like I'm going to be waking the neighbors early..... Off the exit take a left and go under the highway.Continue straight untill you hit the Captain Morgan's. -

Achtung!! vere ahrr yur papers? What a pathetic joke.Anyone who truely needs to get into this country to cause harm can do so in so many ways without being on a main road. This is not helping like some people think. It's just a show of force for the new world pecking order. As far as "safe trip to where?".....well,safe trip to his destination, which I believe will be Pole land. Do they serve perogies in first class on the flight over?Or the Polish seven course meal-six pack and a bag of chips? OK guys, maybe I'll see some of you later in the fall, probably after the leaf peepers have vacated and before the New York crowd gets up there for snow season. -

Sounds like a good back up plan to me,but you'll have to keep the car nice for Connie... She needs a nice orbital disk sander, maybe a palm sander to.Nice step down papers, check with a body worker, probably like 150 to 400 grit, and lighter if you're going for a nice finish.I'll see what I can bring.I have the orbital and some 200 grit. Wait a minute! Connie,YOU do bodywork....you tell us what grit to use. -

moosens replied to idosubaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I wanted to,bought the O-ring,but could not easily get the muthuh off for some reason,so I said heck with it.I still have the o-ring somewhere in stock.I'll save it for a rebuild someday.I tend to think that o-ring might be the same for many EA engines. At least I'm hoping so. That's what I thought about the stem being pressed in and that I'd never be able to get it back in that well by hand.I really wanted to get the engine done, otherwise I'd have looked it over better and figured something,or call a master tech I know. OK,so I guess I din't help much....anyone else? -
....lame!! Don't quit your day job. Northern Italian (blonde with TWO eyebrows and knuckles way clear of the floor) and Romanian,on rye,L,T,mayo.........toasted,of course!

Was there an EA71 SPFI anywhere else in the world?? I'd love to have an EA71 SPFI with a D/R 5spd 4WD....in an oldschooler. To me,the SPFI is just perfect for guys like me.Add it to the best engine Subaru ever gave us,toss in the best tranny Subaru ever gave us,and that's the one for me. Good luck with this.Show pics please.

OK,I know I was going to help you once before,so this time we'll make it happen.Do you want the one you showed or do you want me to get one from the Subaru dealer? With my discount I think I can get you the same parts for the same price only they will be Subaru OEM parts, not some other manufacturer. If you're happy with the one you chose then I can get that for you,no problem. email please, because my PM box is full. Thanks, Paul (1/2 Romanian)

I'll stop down one of those night if you're staying up.You tell me if your going to need sleep and when you want to not accept visitors and I'll work around it.Hauling tail I can make it there under 3 hours.I can deal with getting home around 1AM,people will just think I was at a bar... so I can hang out untill 10PM or so. Not sure how early I can make it down,or if I'm 100% covered to go.I'll need to ditch the kids with someone, and make sure the wife doesn't have plans....we'll talk.I'll do my utmost...and attempt to get those parts you asked for if you can wait that long. I'll be talking to you soon. Oh,if you have time during the day there's a few really great yards down that way or within an hour or so...and there's Harry's in Hazelton if you really have a heap of time.I was just going to start a PA yard run post this week for sometime in October or at least before the white stuff flies.
