moosens replied to moosens's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Dang,I really wish I could jump into this one and go see my friends who are right next to Peterborough.Just one of those weekends where I'm totally caught off guard. My touring wagon is back out on loan.My '78 is hurting bigtime as my daily driver and I just can't do a big trip with it right now.Everything else in the family is either not available or not running. Have fun, whoever makes it.PLEASE take some pics atop of Burke for us.Thanks! -
Hey,I'm going to stop tossing out these incredible one liners if nobody gets it!!!! No applause, just throw money, thank you. You're right,we'll know where to go.We can set him up on a wild goose chase 6 hours away(360 van,ff-1 wagon, any of those will work) and go take whatever we want!! You're the briliant one! Jon,we'll talk soon.

driving your 1600 more now due to gas prices?
moosens replied to mcbrat's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Not to get off the topic, ahem, but yes, they usually read really full untill about half way. Then the last half seems to go a lot quicker. This was common among the 1600's and as I recall the 1400 weren't the greatest either. Kill the poor!!!!!!! -

*...Just picked up a 79 Brat...Question?*
moosens replied to bakerman1's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
(Cool!!! the rest is cake) For sure, you can use the front assy' from anything Subaru (USA) '77 through '79. BUT,my factory parts manual shows that the '79 Brat has an axle all it's own that does not interchange with the others.Strange to me.There's an asterisk in the remarks column which indicates it was a new issue part when the book was printed in January 1980.Does your axle have a cotter pin in it or do you have to knock a chisle into the nut to unlock the detent?I'm guessing they started the cotter pin style around that time,so the pre-79's will have the knock down/lock down vs. the cotter pin on the castle nut. -

Yeah buddy,I just got to use my touring wagon for off roading and commuting for a few days.Wow!! A/C,Power windows, nice radio, but now it's back to the '78 tomorrow.I've been abusing it as my daily for a few months now.It needs a tune up but still is a blessing to have.I get at least 25mpg but it gets a solid 35mpg when it's tuned up and wheels, etc. in top shape. Sunday night fill up for the touring wagon was $49.00 for 15 gallons. It was real low and I top it off. -
Jesse, let's get up to Jon's place, with or without Andrew.Let's face it,if he gets involved there might not be any vehicles left for us to consider. The Connecticut Vintage Subaru Museum East Windsor Connecticut Police Take Notice

...and uhh,the next one he uncovers goes to ME! I asked him at least 3 years ago to keep an eye on them and we almost had one that went into lockup and...well,whatever happened,it happened and I'm proud to be the first guy in line. -
Sounds like a meet at your place,Jon. Freak,Andrew, and the Rev. G.L. Fivespeed.....

Northern New England/NY,etc. Meet???
moosens replied to moosens's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
hahaha, well, that's really kind of you but I'd never be able to accept it.You sure did just give me a shove in the right direction, being I'll have an audience actually willing to pay for me:lol: ....maybe I can talk the wife into something...bring the kids to Storyland or some crap like that. We'll see,no promises though. Just filled up the '89 GL Touring wagon with the cheap 87 octane, from just before the tank empty warning light going on.......$49.00 for 15 gallons!!I top it off, especially during the spring and fall for consideration of tank condensation. I'd like to run into Konrad again too! I'll work on the wife this week. -
Oh baby, like I'm going to pass on it now that Electrodyne is out of them?....I'll be up there soon Jon,or maybe you can make it to Connie's place for her meet.

Northern New England/NY,etc. Meet???
moosens replied to moosens's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Bump for New England/northern NY ,etc. I'll try,but right now with the list of things to do and the price of gas it's very unlikely that I'll make it unless we decide to make a small family vacation out of it.Even then it'll be a chore. Well,at least I got the post started and hopefully some of you guys will get to meet and have fun. Please consider the drive down to NJ sometime. The Pine Barrens are awsome to drive through. And,we get more of the east coast crowd together. Have fun! -
Check with PHATBRAT.Find him in the members list and email him. He's busy so PM won't get you a response too quickly. He's in Mount Holly.

Eclectrodyne has them.THey have a few left as I know it.And they are very reasonable!

Northern New England/NY,etc. Meet???
moosens replied to moosens's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Yeah,we'd really like to be living somewhere around Bangor or eastward along the shoreline.I'll make it up there again this year or next.I try to hit the yards in not-so-Freeport,miss Junkyard Gabe again ,then head northward. Downeast has plenty of older Subarus still dotting the roads.I saw a few sweet EA81 and EA82's.More of them where the earnings are lesser.Lots of thrifty New Englanders.Kind of like a little Vermont in Maine. I wish I could just hop in the car and make all these trips, but I do indeed get to a few.Any excuse to see northern New England helps.Much healthier than life down here. Hey,how's the yards for older Subarus up your way?? Any longtime specialty shops or 70's cars sitting around? J/Y Gabe wiorks at the second yard on the left in Freeport, down Alling Ridge Rd I think it is.But the yard before his has a lot of older interesting vehicles, and they keep them there, not crush them.Gabe's yard is notable for EA81,82,Legacy stuff. Both recommended. Clue us in on any good yards. We'll make a list of favorites in New England and occasionally meet at them as we can. Cheers, Paul
