  1. Diaphram rod,as my FSM shows it,stayed in,same for the O-ring. That's right Pat,it must be the remainder because I sure wasn't about to do it the 100% correct way at that time.I think I'm going to just do another Sea Foam douche and see how that does.Yes,it does look like the color of what came out with the flush. So far I'm not inclined to do the pan drop/filter swap/band adjust If the weather stays fair I might get to that but right now time is tough to gather in quantity. I might take it for a power flush, but again, time and money are restricting. As long as it goes I tend to not stop and make more work for myself. Thanks for the response. Added:I just got back from a quick ride and it runs great but does still have the "6 speed" feel in the lower gear exchange. Dipstick shows a healthy,semi-clear blue fluid. That crap is sitting on the bottom, somewhat.I know it'll circulate, but probably holding up the valves...right Pat?Almost makes me want to make the time or pay the man to drop that pan, clean the valves, heck I already have a fresh screen and gasket...:-\
  2. 1982 GLF coupe. Previously changed tranny fluid after using Sea Foam's tranny cleanser product just a few weeks ago, before the wrath of rain.Anyhow,I added B & M Trick Shift, just because it helped me once before. The stuff is light blue in color.Keep that in mind. Then this week I noticed I was down a little fluid so I added a quart of red tranny fluid. So now the color should be mostly bluish, probably slightly purple, right? Well, when I removed the modulator some brownish fluid came out of the tranny. Is this typical, because the diaphram when ruptured allows oil in? Or do you think I should flush it again because what I saw was what didn't make it out the first time?I know that usually when you pull the hose off the modulator you'll see some oil if it was bad.Is this just that same oil or do you think it's sediment that finally broke loose or was just missed by the first cleaner? Only about 1/2 cup of fluid came out. Good news is that the modulator did make a difference in shifting as it should.I'll have to check tomorrow to see if it's not going to smoke anymore. It shouldn't.
  3. Same opinion here with a slight edge to the simplicity of the EA71. Personal opinion is that there should be an EA71 with SPFI available right now.But that ain't happenin'.
  4. Nice idea!! Who'd going to crawl under the next Acura CL they see?Regardless,I'm sure something can be done. All it takes it time and money.
  5. Hmmmmmm.....anyone got $65/$75 bucks? I'd love to do that, but we'll have to see. If there's enough interest I'll find a way to make it happen..or give it my best shot.I know I can do a better job of navigating after my first experience where I was just too road doped to think, calculate, and communicate as quickly as needed. My son really want to hit PB for what we're used to,diner breakfast, trail riding, etc. We'll definitely head down for a daytime/Saturday run so if folks want to hook up speak up in this thread. Let's see if there's enough folks interested in the TSD too!!Twist my arm.
  6. Might be able to do this before the PA yard run since it's a one day-all day event with no chance of spending money I don't have at junkyards. I think within the next three weeks is possible.
  7. October is breezing by....same for my paycheck...still no definite date in sight for me.I'm hoping for a small miracle but most likely I won't be able to swing this trip for at least 3 weeks.
  8. I think you should have asked if anyone LOCAL wants to go....because we ALL "want" to go. Have fun, show pics.
  9. Indeed!! Drooled all over the keyboard. GO FOR IT!!!!
  10. Never heard of anyone pulling this off yet. Personal dream for me would be an EA71 with a D/R 5spd....and SPFI. Be sure to let us know if you stuff a D/R 5spd into that '77.You'll be my hero.
  11. Air injector fittings are different, but can be re-drilled and tapped if swapping to the later issue. I can scan the page from my FPM for the early version for you if you need it.
  12. Same here!!! I've got the Toyo's on my '89 and '96 and they are excellent in the rain.My friend manages a Town Fair Tire location. I take the same route when buying new-get the high end-don't skimp out especially if you carry people all the time like I do. Toyo Spectrum,I believe they are called. You can always get even better, but for the money these are great.I'm looking at getting them for my coupe when I actually have cash...Cash price with all the goodies thown in is around $73 per tire. That's full replacement for road hazard, free flat repair, free rotaion,etc...for the life of the tires.
  13. How much for a bag of the thought producer? Kind of cute.Needs a nose job.
  14. That's Todd,a.k.a. Subaru3,whose got the bid on it.He'll tell us all about it.
  15. Scott,I forgot your board name and sorry to post here but I need you to contact me immediately.Email works best. FedEx sent me a bill for your taxes which you agreed to pay.
  16. I've already gotten my spare hatch and I've yet to see someone else needing one since.I needed the glass once and Steve from WV came through with one. They are expensive if you ask the dealer, like almost $400 and there's 3 types of them too.One is glued only, the others are a little different. How bad is the rust?I'm assuming it's typical of a NE 1989-90 car.Can you see the road through the rear quarter wells? How's the unibody rails near the firewall?Rockers?Lower edges of doors? If it's maroon I have/had some doors.I think WagonsOnly has them stored for me. Mine has gone on family vacations, been offroaded, even through a good 30"'s of water....and someone once posted the pic of the nose to the air and about 18"'s of nothing between my front tires and earth. That car is still going strong and hasn't rotted too badly yet.My sister inlaw uses it to go like 1 mile each way to work. It's living the good life now.Very handy,we call it the family truck.
  17. Something like 1500 as I recall, were produced in the two years.
  18. Save the rear hatch,it's special...same for the ceiling liner.Save the trim around the hatch too.THere's screws from the inside of the pillar if you do remove them. I love mine.Too bad I don't drive it.:-\
  19. Keep on rockin in the free world.....whatever that means... !!!!!! You GO girl.
  20. I thought I heard something about you losing you job,or was it your dad,and your job was up in the air??Anyhow, don't talk about it here if you don't want to.Sorry to bring it up,but YES the freakin northeast is always the first to feel it.The cornkickers don't know what's going on,but the Spanish Invasion has them waking up.Everybody wants you to work for crumbs and they take home the meat.Well,I think it's time to learn more Spanish and start a payroll.Pretty soon guys like me will be cutting throat 'cause working for tyrants blows. OK,let me see about October and if it goes into November just dress warmer. BTW,I'm predicting a MAJOR SNOW STORM this season putting NYC in peril.FEMA hires the Interpol and takes over the City like some Kurt Russell movie or something.
  21. Yeah, maybe the following weekend instead. THere's a lot up in the air on my end right now.I have people interested in my home but really need to button things up. At least most of you guys are a lot closer.Going to be another looooooong day for me,so I might camp out Friday night or Saturday,or both since Harry's is open on Sunday. ......oh,I almost forgot,I'm damn broke right now too.Looking to dump some stuff off, have a couple of quicky side gigs, hopefully I can go with more than plastic and coffee money.
  22. First part, yes.Second part,no,it's not leaking at all.Very tight engine and tranny,....look,no spots!!! Thanks again guys. You all might as well let this one drop and when I change the modulator I'll give a full report. If I need help from that point then we'll dogpile on it once again. Cheers!
  23. It's October already!!...that's the update. :-\ How are we looking for the third weekend this month?
  24. Thanks Tom,I knew that.I've replaced modulators before but they never made the car smoke at all, just shifted badly.
