  1. I'll stop down one of those night if you're staying up.You tell me if your going to need sleep and when you want to not accept visitors and I'll work around it.Hauling tail I can make it there under 3 hours.I can deal with getting home around 1AM,people will just think I was at a bar... so I can hang out untill 10PM or so. Not sure how early I can make it down,or if I'm 100% covered to go.I'll need to ditch the kids with someone, and make sure the wife doesn't have plans....we'll talk.I'll do my utmost...and attempt to get those parts you asked for if you can wait that long. I'll be talking to you soon. Oh,if you have time during the day there's a few really great yards down that way or within an hour or so...and there's Harry's in Hazelton if you really have a heap of time.I was just going to start a PA yard run post this week for sometime in October or at least before the white stuff flies.
  2. Oh yeah! I was the freakin Red Baron in his Folker,or whatever those planse were called.....Stukas over Bridgeport!!!! Look out!!!Holy Messerschmidt!!!! Man for a little engine it sure was LOUD with one side totally unbolted and the other with one good stud and nut holding fairly tight.Imagine if both sides went down? Konrad!??!!?? where is you is????
  3. I see you!! Yup,sure will take that fender back. It'll be the touch it needs. She(?) ran fine especially after some time on the road.As expected,it was a little rough at first, nothing scary, but then smoothed out, shifted nicer, battery actually charged(needle was wavering when I first got going). All in all it's got potential to be a really nice ride.It does have some knock to it.Too bad I gave away all my EA81's....count 'em,at least 5 complete and one in pieces....GONE!!! But that's life.I said I wouldn't go back, but your car was irresitable. It was a little hot too,but again it seemed to cool off and I'm sure with a fluch and a new thermostat, etc. it'll be fine. Now,I might even keep this one under my butt instead of giving it to my inlaws.Me with a 2door automatic.....yikes! Let's hope for a healthy emissions test! See you soon!
  4. I can really get going on this subject.Let me just say this. Our friend in Grafton was stopped by folks like you're describing,in the middle of the state of VT.Guys in black with no badges or designation and when my friend asked what law enforcement agency they represent, they did NOT reply.I take it you saw Mounties. Were there non uniformed men with automatic weapons there too?Or a vehicle off to the side which could have contained such? Nice pics,I'm just about to start checking them out.Sorry, just too much to do here.I needed to get my '78 quiet and give my '89 back to my inlaws.
  5. I'll just mooch one good beer from somebody.Otherwise, water is good, filetered prefered but Danbury tap probably isn't so bad compared to our water here. Connie, you need to change your signature....sorry,honey.(I didn't get to reggy "Lucky" yet but hopefully Tuesday,Wed.,or Thursday....) Let me know what you need for food and supplies too, please.
  6. Todd and I are smiling. Finally,we've got company and now their knocking down the door to get in.:-p
  7. You know what I want.Splitgate wagon, any year. Now stop making us green with envy, please. I'd like to get a '77-79 for mess with. They are too rusty to restore here unless you got a miracle car like my '78 or the very,VERY few still on the east coast that were protected, garaged, and pampered.I'll take something like this and just go artistic on it.But,is it worth the cost??Probably not. Jon,if you change your mind I'm down for the roadtrip. It'll take some working out but a Friday night departure, all nighter puts us in FL by Saturday afternoon.Leave Sunday early morninig and be home by midnight.
  8. Double posted, but it doesn't ruffle my feathers so much....if someone feels it should be deleted as a double post then it'll have to be whacked. I really need a three day weekend to go get the '79 of Raven's and this one....but we'll see what actually happens. With the gas prices it's going up to like $400+++ just for a tow dolley, gas and tolls.......
  9. Am I crazy enough to go up late tonight???? Has to be an incredible view on top today. Have fun! Don't sleep near food!
  10. thank you, thank you....Thanks Connie Ed,Just to let you know,I took the car on a Connie-payment-plan,and your dough will be on its way like it should of been last week.I suck sometimes, but I'll make it up,you know me.Thanks again Connie for that easy slip out the door deal!! DMV experience was a head banger alright.First trip to Norwalk about 30 minutes away so my kids don't have to stand around listening to thugs,ex-cons,future-cons,rap wannabe's,etc.....and the line was outrageous.Turn around, head for the hometown/homeboy office and it's surprisingly quick and nobody is talking loud on cell phones about "Yo,bling,F'in yo,bling yo F'in Fyou,"...like that, for ONCE in Bridgeport. So,I get to the window thinking it's just too good to be true going this quickly, and sure enough the guy, after looking over all my papers tells me I need the lein release form(the car was paid off 20 years ago!!),and an insurance card from the car I'm dropping,etc..go home, speed back because I think it closes at noon, and the next guy tells me I don't have a current insurance card.In my rush I just grabbed and didn't look, but regardless I explained that the policy number is still thesame and still in effect....."sorry,can't help you,go get the right one and here's a pass that'll get you back in when the doors are locked"....so returneth I do in light speed, avoiding license revokation,etc....and get there about 12:28,just before they do lock the doors....they give me a funny number with an F designation in prefix.....hmmmmmm,F??? is this a sign?? So,there I sit,and although the time was actually not long it seemed like an hour...get to the counter, get the snottiest little "lady" who processes my paperwork, and hands me a hard plate.....WOW!!! Too good to be true....NOT!! Dipstick, played by yours truely looks up at the girl and says "So,do this mean I don't need inspection??"" Double dip me in the deepest dog doo...."Bleep",she says out loud....lukily this was ONE trip that I didn't have the kids at my side. She slightly excuses herself and says she's made a mistake....duh!!! FRom that moment on it was all loss for me.I had to give the little witch back my plate and they were unable to help me further, and I won't bother you with the details.Basically,I now need to get a fresh insurance card to go with all the other crap and then get a temp. plate, pass emissions, then get a hard plate.Getting like the old days, only suckier.
  11. I think the best thing to do,unless Jon can get it whole,is to have our good buddy Mudrat fill his hands even more so as to part what we need and ship it...with my wheels he's had stored for me.John(Mudrat) is a good guy.Sure he's under fire, but I'm also behind on evening up with at least 3 or four board members.I am trusting Mudrat can at least get the car to his place and get things going. Jon in NY,if you can cover the transport then go ahead.I'd rather see it whole than get some parts off of it.I've got most of what I really need already. I'm busy right after I get off the computer but let's try to talk over the rest of the weekend.Later on sometime Jon in NY,please call me as I didn't keep your number handy....I'll make the west coast calls later to Mudrat and Russ if I have his number.Gott go,see you later...
  12. Uhh,last I heard from him I was going to have Mudrat go by and get it.I thought Russ and I had that in the works and I was waiting to hear more from him.....but I do have my hands full, and Mudrat sure does too....Still,I'd like to see it make its way east regardless. We'll talk.
  13. OK,everyone back off! 75 Jon,I see you looking in!!! Rattle-you're in the wrong Portland, buddy! Email sent, PM sent....hope to hear from you soon.
  14. I'll take it all, whatever you're giving up. I'll make the trip up soon too,not that I have an extra excuse. I'll email you through this board. Thanks, Paul
  15. Dang,I really wish I could jump into this one and go see my friends who are right next to Peterborough.Just one of those weekends where I'm totally caught off guard. My touring wagon is back out on loan.My '78 is hurting bigtime as my daily driver and I just can't do a big trip with it right now.Everything else in the family is either not available or not running. Have fun, whoever makes it.PLEASE take some pics atop of Burke for us.Thanks!
  16. Hey,I'm going to stop tossing out these incredible one liners if nobody gets it!!!! No applause, just throw money, thank you. You're right,we'll know where to go.We can set him up on a wild goose chase 6 hours away(360 van,ff-1 wagon, any of those will work) and go take whatever we want!! You're the briliant one! Jon,we'll talk soon.
  17. Not to get off the topic, ahem, but yes, they usually read really full untill about half way. Then the last half seems to go a lot quicker. This was common among the 1600's and as I recall the 1400 weren't the greatest either. Kill the poor!!!!!!!
  18. If you can get motor mounts and exhaust gaskets you're all set.....err,unless you want new pumps,etc.....
  19. (Cool!!! the rest is cake) For sure, you can use the front assy' from anything Subaru (USA) '77 through '79. BUT,my factory parts manual shows that the '79 Brat has an axle all it's own that does not interchange with the others.Strange to me.There's an asterisk in the remarks column which indicates it was a new issue part when the book was printed in January 1980.Does your axle have a cotter pin in it or do you have to knock a chisle into the nut to unlock the detent?I'm guessing they started the cotter pin style around that time,so the pre-79's will have the knock down/lock down vs. the cotter pin on the castle nut.
  20. Yeah buddy,I just got to use my touring wagon for off roading and commuting for a few days.Wow!! A/C,Power windows, nice radio, but now it's back to the '78 tomorrow.I've been abusing it as my daily for a few months now.It needs a tune up but still is a blessing to have.I get at least 25mpg but it gets a solid 35mpg when it's tuned up and wheels, etc. in top shape. Sunday night fill up for the touring wagon was $49.00 for 15 gallons. It was real low and I top it off.
  21. Jesse, let's get up to Jon's place, with or without Andrew.Let's face it,if he gets involved there might not be any vehicles left for us to consider. The Connecticut Vintage Subaru Museum East Windsor Connecticut Police Take Notice
  22. (chest sticking out)... I hope that day does come when I need to fly out to Montana or the northwest and drive or haul it back. So,what was this post about again??
  23. ...and uhh,the next one he uncovers goes to ME! I asked him at least 3 years ago to keep an eye on them and we almost had one that went into lockup and...well,whatever happened,it happened and I'm proud to be the first guy in line.
