  1. Ed,I sent some emails to your spamcop address.Did you ever get them?I've been waiting to hear back.Talk to you soon, Paul
  2. Very nice!! See you in the Historic Forum. Cheers
  3. Glad you had a good time. I sent some emails to your spamcop address,I believe. Talk to you soon, Paul
  4. It's a 5 hour ride from my place, maybe more.Konrad,if you want to ride up along with us we will probably go up Friday night and stay somewhere not too far from Burke.Maybe camp Saturday and drive back Sunday afternoon. See you soon.
  5. I'll gladly borrow a bike,THANKS! So,the auto road is open all the time so we can all go up there and hang for a bit, take pics, etc.
  6. Good luck with the whole deal. I wish I could help you with info in shipping.I'll call someone who has an involvement in that sort of thing and see what he recommends.I'm guessing it'll leave San Diego or a lower CA port.
  7. Why are they so cheap over there? The prices here really aren't too dramatically out of line in most cases. There are the people who'll insist that a rare vehicle desreves a high price tag regardless of condition. That's the shame of it,when someone asks big money for something still needing work and still very used overall. Let's face it,supply and demand, the old bottom line. Lots of people are remembering their first cars or the car they wanted way back when and seeking them out. That and getting a unique vehicle to stand out with while saving gas, insurance, taxes, etc. THe price of a beater car has risen too sharply here. You can't touch anything worth driving for under $2,000 it seems. And that car will have issues too.
  8. ......and me boss?(Bugs Bunny) Seriously,I am going to be adding my wagon parts wish list soon. Stuff like a good shifter lever bushing,etc....little things like that I'll be looking for.
  9. Good luck. It's times like this I really wish I was closer to you guys......or do I??
  10. I'm almost definite to go. Not sure I'll bike, but I'll find somewhere to fish with my son if you guys take off for a while. I'll ask my friend about Burke's hillclimb and any motorclub associated with it. Swimming might be a little cool the later we make it in September. I know we still have Milt in Maine, wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy out east.THere was a guy with a Kawi green lifted Brat appropriately named "ZRBrat" for the Kawi ZR color.
  11. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I didn't see any contact info. What area is he in? 6grand is a little too much for a backyard toy that you can't jump and doesn't roost. My opinion.
  12. There's one here in CT that the owner will never let go.It runs and drives but I don't think he keeps it registered. It mostly goes around his property a couple of times a year.
  13. Please feel free to add to the "Wish List" post thread.I run a '78 4WD wagon as my daily dogfighter, have a '73 coupe to be restored or upgraded. I probably have parts you'll be needing but right now it's all in storage too tight to mess with. Getting to sound like we need a Northeast Vintage Subaru Owners Club..... oh,and Welcome!
  14. Yes,thanks. I can see myself getting stuck in traffic but not wanting to turn around and give up....scenario as follows:call Dave, have him beg the folks to keep Petey there a few more minutes while some guy driving a '78 wagon hauls into the parking lot at 8:05 PM..... Hope to see you guys.Geez, all the board members that live nearby too.
  15. Gee,I thought for a minute there that I'd be driving to Subaru of Americaland for a free "hatchback". Congrats! That's a "3door",not the "hatchback",just so you know. There's other folks around here that get real funny about that. The real hatchback has the EA81 engine, which is O/H valve-no timinng belts,it's gear driven. The 3door has the big glass hatch and the EA82 engine, which you are now very familiar with. Way to go!Now go to Lumbertown tomorrow and meet Subaru's greatest Rally driver. Cheers!
  16. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGG!!!! I'll try. Edit:not looking good unless I can blow out of work early. Luckily, the big guy has booked out for the weekend as of tonight so it might be possible. Dave,if you're going, call me and let me know.I'm thinking if I make it it'll be pushing 7:30PM or so. I should have my son with me,I hope. He's very excited about the whole thing.
  17. Said it before but I'll say it again. There's a professor near here, just over the line in NY,who claims to have over 1,500,000 miles on his 4WD wagon, which I believe is a 1982.His wife came out and verified it.He's taught all over the country and Europe. When he taught here it was schools like U of FL,Mich. State,etc..... all long hauls which he's make every Sunday to and every Friday from. He'd get home, pull in the garage and drain the oil.Go in,kiss the wife and proceed to finish the oil change. He also has a Hatchback with well over 450,000 and the original engine and components on the engine. Coolest educator I've ever met.He also has a couple of micro cars and a few other really cool items. I asked him to pass his story along to Subaru, but I don't read "Drive" or any other publications Subaru puts on regularly.Maybe he did,you folks tell me.
  18. Congrats, and yes there's still interest, but the cost of shipping is holding me back.I've got the FL wagon to get to first.Man,I wish I could just get that wagon too, right now.The body looks great.
  19. The unofficial, kick the can around post. Let's get some ideas and dates tossed around. So far it's looking like mid September.Let's beat the leaf peepers. So far Burke Mtn.,VT has been mentioned. I'm hoping we can get an offroading spot for those of us willing to go in.Like the Pine Barrens Meets, you can always leave you car in a lot and go in as a passenger with a fellow Subathusiast.Let's make sure we ca find a place to suit parking and pleasure. Are we 100% sure there's auto trails near Burke?
  20. Anybody ever try Maquire's? http://www.superiorcarcare.net/meg40vinrubc.html I know the RR will clean the best but I'm also wondering about protection from the sun, weather, etc.
  21. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! When I was a a typewriter tech (trained with IBM) I used pretty much the same stuff!! I'll go by the shop and see the old snot that used to be my boss. We did use trichloralethane (sp?) which really is bad stuff too,for most parts and especially the platen which over time became built up with typewriter ink. I did a quick Google search and came up with this: http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=RNWE,RNWE:2005-11,RNWE:en&q=Rubber+Rejuvenator ...as soon as I saw the word "platen" I was taken back to my electromechanical daze...... Let's see the results, please.Weather stripping results?? Thanks Mary.
  22. Well, what can I say?I'm sure you're happy, and that's what counts. No offense to the previous parties that were interested, but it sure was nice to deal with someone already familiar with Brats and not expecting it to be anything better than an East Coast Brat. I'm VERY glad it went to a good home!
  23. Plenty of them here. Just not many folks keep them as long as I do.
