OK,you've just gotten a set off absolutely known to be working switches and relay. You go to install them, still no power windows on your EA82 car. Well,if you're like me and have a car that once pee peed it's coolant all over the passenger side front floor from a rupture in the ***heater core*** then you might want to lift the carpet and check for shorted/coroded wires. I knew I'd find the problem in the wires but it took getting Wagon78 involved to make me lift that carpet today and finally get my power windows going.Today, like much of the last two weeks here, was something like 99 degrees and probably near 95% humidity. The A/C was NOT working either, but I fixed that with a good tensioner pulley from Subafreak. Hats off to both those guys.Freak is a good quick mechanic with a great work ethic.Turn around and he's gotten three more things done.'78 is the guy for diagnostics on the electrical side.I knew once I presented my problem to him I'd have that problem solved in no time. GOING HOME IN AN AIR CONDITIONED CAR FOR WAS SOOOOOOOOOO FREAKIN' AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I used the power windows to hold my head out and scream at the yuppies heading back from the Cape,so my repairs were all timely, indeed.

More info on timeserts wanted

Wurst carries them, that's who I got mine from. Expensive, yes, but excellent. You'll not want a heli-coil again for exhaust studs, etc. where you may have to remove the stud/bolt in the future for repairs,etc.. Cost was borderline "no friggin way",I think I paid like $63 for a set plus shipping.Comes with a drill bit, tap, chamfer bit, insert tool and I think 5 inserts when you order the size for exhaust studs. Pay more, but you get the best results. My experienced opinion. -
Oh gosh, another guy named Skip...welcome! Enjoy the swim. Paul

Whats your favorite EA82? 86-94
moosens replied to sregor13's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Late 80's SPFI is good enough for basic driving and simple, simple, simple!!!!! My '89 touring wagon is our family truck. It just won't die, much like the Subarus of the 70's when things were simple,simple,simple...... -

Hal's is a great place.I can't say I've sent them much money at all but their reputation is up and down the east coast, and then some.Long time Subaru people. -

Brad, you bailed out on the hybrid? Got trailer pics? -
My son wants to hit the Barrens to see if we can snag one of those lizards we saw last year.I'll be going for an overnight camping stay in the Batso camping area. I'll have to check the calender but for sure we'll be doing an entire Saturday of trail driving and if there's company along we'll do some water action too. Who'd be up for a run either this weekend(doubtful, but still being considered),or the weekends of Aug. 27/28th? Google search Pine Barrens and check it out if you're interested.I'll post links and add some info later.Just getting the twigs in the pit.I'll torch the big logs later.Ciao.

Can you still get a O.E. filter?
moosens replied to Subieguy's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
I think the EA82 filters work. The original SOA part number was 880874110 but I'm sure that was updated. -

moosens replied to moosens's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Thanks! From my searching Goodyear's site I couldn't find anything with the woven wrapping.I'll keep checking. -
Gosh I wish I could shrink down to the size of a mouse and get into the box with the '79 shifter I have. Free bump.... Of course,if you came up here on a weekend we could tear through the place.

Vintage replica heater and radiator hoses??
moosens replied to moosens's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Coffee's on,wake up.... I actually need to do some hose replacement REALLY soon,if you have any knowledge of PRE BENT,PRE SHAPED,PRE FORMED,or whatever you want to call them, hoses for our 70's Subarus please let me know ASAP. All I would really need is the proper bend/shape,regardless of vintage appearance. I'm trying to avoid getting basic hose stock and having hot spots from a kink. -
Moosens were you in VA the other day?

Upgrade to silicon? http://www.paragonperformance.com/Silicone%20heater%20hose.html -
I'm going to search real quick, but any knowledge of these please DO tell.... Looking for the heater hoses firstly for my '78 4WD wagon. But I'd also like to outfit the '73 coupe in vintage-esque hoses, etc. The particular type I'm looking for has the woven fabric on it.I'd like a good 6 feet or so of the heater hose diameter. And if I can find radiator hose in that style I'd naturally like a pre shaped upper and lower for the '73 and '78.
