what ever happend to the GEN 1 Fourm Post???
moosens replied to tailgatewagon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Sounds good to me. Classics being from 360's and "Star series" ff-1's through 1979 for cars and up to '81 for Brats. Sound right? Soon the '80-84 crew will have to join the dinosaur club.Something to consider. The EA81 technology is very much EA71 tech based. Once you hit the OVC engines then you draw the line.My opinion. So,what I'm saying the future holds is Classics to include EA81 vehicles. "Loyale" series from '85-94 would then be lumped with the early EJ '90-94 Legacys. That's pretty much a decade span. '95-present is the "Brave New World". Any thoughts on what I've mentioned?Im open to ideas and besides......I don't make decisions here. Cheers -
Bajahahahas welcome too.Even big sluggy Ford trucks. Well, all I can say is the place will be empty soon.Once the keeper stuff is gone, that'll mean the give-away stuff will be soon gone too.I'm thinking I can keep some stuff there up to the end that I'm not too interested in keeping but would help someone else out.

thanks but I just want to use this place for storage and get into our next home.I had my playhouse for quite a while.Going into a unit with no elec. stinks but I really don't need it for much more than storage right now. I remember renting in one of these places about 12 years ago or more and there was this young scruffy dude with all sorts of wires, contraptions, etc. all running off his car battery.I don't want to end up like that dude.
-
Jude, there's another EA81 with belts on it.I didn't get to cut the belts and check for play.I'll see what I can do tomorrow night.

....son,you ain't seen this little guy eat yet, have you?Just kidding, see you soon. Hey everybody,I got us one of those rental storage deals with 24 hour access,so we can still hang out late. .But we'll need candles or flashlights. I'll be hustling stuff over one carload at a time for the weeknights. It's right across town.Anyone available during the weeknight, stop on down and we'll make a couple of hauls and whatever crazy goings on there may be instore.

My '78 wagon is pretty good.Clears from the center out.I'll gladly wait untill next fall to go check and give a report. First real day of Spring was today,up here. Any solution for this defroster problem?Another VW crossover?

I got a pushbar from Jack.Never got to meet him but his mom was cool. That was probably in the "Summer Tour 2000".He did stop back here not too long ago. Now,show me some old thread from the first board. I think I was online with the USMB around 1997 or 98,despite what the signature says.Yikes!Soon it'll be ten years.....scary.

You're both right. Jesse,I thought about you for a second and then neglected to call.I heard you're just about done with the SVX.Hey,I'm getting nervous about my blue dash. Can you hit it with some Armorall for me,please?I really want to break away and get up to that Brat.If you're crazy enough, stop down Easter night.Might be good to get out with the kids all high on jelly beans and peeps. .....of course you want it legal. At first it seemed like it was truely abandoned and just waiting for action,or death.Seems like there's a glimmer of hope for it if the doors were locked, etc. New Advice: You should have already bought one of my cars. So stop down and check out the '84,87,or 89 wagons. Good luck. -
I see that you're correct.I wonder why my friend who has nearly 30 years with Subaru told me mine was a thrust washer. This guy is a Senior Master Tech.Is there a thrust washer at all in an EA82T?I don't have my manuals handy. From the looks at the early 70's manual I do have,it's obvious that the center bearing carries the thrust on the early engines. Thanks for the info.Sorry Jude.Talk to you soon.

Rumor has it that Dave and Melissa are heading north.Call me if you're coming up.I'm working untill at least 11,probably 12. I'm going up to Milford for the afternoon.Connie is supposed to stop by too. For those of you not sure what's going on,here's the nutshell in a deal. I'm moving soon.I am consolidating all my Subaru parts and paring down the stock. My place is a rented industrial bay in Milford,CT.I'm giving lots of stuff away and looking for some help with boxing,or if you'd help with some mechanical work there's plenty to do too.If you want to just stop by and mooch some parts that's ok,just don't assume it's all available. THere's a lot of parts for most Subarus from 1975-1989 and then some. I DO NOT have Legacy and Impreza parts or anything after 1994 Loyale that I'm letting go of. Location: 230 Woodmont Rd. Milford,CT unit # 41-C I-95 from NYC take exit 40-left at end of exit, right at light, industrial park on your left before the first light.Seconds from the highway. I-95 from New Haven take exit 40-left at the bottom of the exit,go under highway, straight through light,it's on your left in about 75 yards. Saturday you can count on me being there from 2PM on,for sure.Hopefully I'll be there even earlier, like 12:30 Thanks for any consideration.April is the END!!!! It's going to be a huge push to get this stuff organized and moved into some little tin storage unit. Then once our house is settled I'll move it again. So,stop on up before something you need goes in the dumpster, because I'm not into moving things I don't need for my own cars. I'm extremely cash poor this week but I'll do my best to score some pizza, etc. if it becomes a decent social event.Besides, you'll see something you want for a few bucks and then the pizza, sushi, etc. will flow like wine.

Is the heater cock opening when you move the sliding lever from blue(cold) to red(hot)?? -
That's a thrust washer that's causing the front to back play.I just sent a PM.I'll try to even up or send a replacement. My turbo EA82 has the same play but it runs excellent,no leaks either. But it sort of scared the heck out of me when I had the engine out. It's not a lot of play but enough to hear it when you move it back and forth. You don't have any up/down-side/side play do you?

I'd look in the glove box for the title.they probably signed it for the pick up folks.....so.....just fill in your name before they get it and the car is yours.....drive it home. Title says it all.If it was left like that and the title was filled out you're not ripping anybody off, since it looks like the tow company neglected to gather it up. Good luck. -
Thanks for the boxes!! Yup,we've actually been there when there was a regional enduro. Not sure if it was Hare and Hound,or what.Still a very cool place for Tom to bring the 'yota and a dirtbike or two on back. On any weekend you might see horses,or huge walking/hiking parties. Our group actually helped a young girl get out to the road and to the hospital when she somehow fell and got under her horse way back in the middle of the place.

Cool,thanks for keeping us posted.

Are the rear brake on this one drum or disk?I'll sometimes get that on the '84 w/drums,because the shoe will walk a little bit. Just a thought.
