  1. Yup,pretty much what she said. The '84 is much better now.I was in 4WD around 12:30 AM Saturday/Sunday trying to back my coupe into a good spot.I worked the tranny a lot that 10 minutes or so.It was resisting reverse, but once I got it back into 2WD all was wonderful again.Tranny acts great once again.Knock on wood. Going up into the mountains was probably the toughest.Connies coupe would tow much better down here in the "flatlands". My '73 is so light,it barely feels like there's a car there after towing the '82
  2. no,he didn't.....just too tired,and too much to get done untill ohhhhhhhh,about 3AM.'nuff said.....Congrats to Connie!!!!!!!
  3. Connie or Tom will be driving.I'm catching up on some sleep on the way up......sorry to break the news to you Connie. You'll get an EA81 practice run for about 6++ hours. Should be fun.Let's hope for no mechanicals,or DNF's in any way.
  4. Sorry, something about this just ain't right to me.I'll have to think this over but right now I'd say it's much too much of a hassle with becoming a non-profit to bother with.I hate to shoot down an idea,so let me re-read and think about it some more.I'm going off of instinct right now. It'd work if we all lived near each other.I've thought about starting a Vintage Japanese Club here in CT since the Hispanic population holds a whole mess of wicked cool Toyotas,Datsuns, and a few Mazdas, etc. But I'd be one of a handfull of non Spanish speaking whiteboys in a sea of latinos.Don't go taking that the wrong way now,you hear?I grew up in Bridgeport,CT,not Bumluck Idaho. SOA back us up? I'm not so sure about that.
  5. Thanks for making the trip,Jude(s)!! You are now the king of the EA81. Stay off the cornfields with that plane!!! Good luck with the birdchaser.Send a picture if you can.
  6. Hahahaha, that freakin' guido!!! If it's the same one, which I'll bet it is,then it's actually a decent car.Opinion based on it'ss condition almost 2 years ago when I looked at it.
  7. Only thing that bothers me is that he went out of his way to get that whole warehouse of stock,or some major portion of it,and then vanished without really cashing in while the market was probably at peak for that old stock.Just didn't make sense.Luckily,I never sent him anything. It really helped that he was "building a pile"for me.I don't know if I should believe that or not, now. :-\
  8. Hey!!!! call me please.I know you probably couldn't get away to help me yesterday but it would have been good to call me,even if to say "I just can't make it".I wanted you to talk to Charlie, who came down at 10PM and stayed untill around 1AM.....we'll talk soon. No,I haven't asked my wife about the trip yet.
  9. I'll have to write more when my brain activity increases but long story short, these two people were complete life savers ALL WEEKEND for me.Last night they stayed with me untill around 1:30 AM,at least!!!! I'm still not out of the workshop but it's to a point where I should be able to tackle it all today with my friend, and lots of dump runs.Too bad the town I can dump in for free is 15 miles away...but anyhow.... Connie and her boyfriend Tom are incredibly nice people,to say the least. My own brothers dogged me on help.It was a complete blessing to have Connie and Tom there with me. Thanks also to Scott(wagon78),Andrew(wagonsOnly),and the others who helped this and last weekend-Matt and Michele,etc....
  10. Matt is a great asset to our community! .....send crab legs!!
  11. Glad you guys made it home ok. Thanks for coming down and helping out. Any help on Sunday would be outstanding.Connine and Tom have really been incredible, but I can use all the hands I can get now,the last day....
  12. Glad you got home ok,thanks again for the help.If you can make it down to take some of those fenders and a wagon rear hatch, that'd be a work of wonder.I'll call you when I wake up. Tell dad about the marble top.
  13. See ya tomorrow and we'll talk about things. The seller and I will be talking tonight.Call me if you can.I'm leaving the house in a few minutes, you know where I'll be,phone will be on. Ciao
  14. Last day means the LAST DAY.....but I'll be heading up your way soon. Someday, there'll be another FSCR,but I don't think I'll be turning my home into what this place was in it's prime.(sniff,sniff......waaaaaghhhh!!!) Actually,it's all for the better. Jes,I'll bet the singer will sound like Cookie Monster,I can almost guaruntee that. COOOOOOOOOOKIE!!!!KIL KIL KILL KILL,COOOOOOOOKIEEEEEE!!!!!
  15. Gotta love this guy!! Must Paypal for items unless I know you well . moosens@yahoo.com will do ya. I'm not sure what else he can stuff into his vehicle, but I'm pretty sure there's still be these items at my workshop before he leaves: spider intake EA82-check my post for price,I think it was $150 DEAL!! low mileage!! 3.90 rear diff's I think I listed those for $10-20....check my post,I'm very rushed right now. Alternators,starters-mostly EA82,some EA81 EA81 hood not picked up yet by eBay winner, who I think is a board member,,,,not sure Brat doors, rusty on the lower edge but useable and workable.Super cheap!good glass, mirrors. Check my posts, please. Brat glass!! any piece you need $10!!!! Windshield $30!!!!!!! rear slider w/good gasket/seal $20!!! EA82 heater boxes w/working cores $10.... I might not be back on the computer so please contact Jude and tell him that you have indeed paid me,unless you're an old timer-you guys know who you are. Thanks Jude!!!See you soon....Guinness or Harp???
  16. Hey guys,I'm hoping that Andrew "WagonsOnly" is going to jump in and try to get that car.If you guys aren't 100% serious, please don't bid. We'd really like to see it up here.....REALLY like to see it.
  17. I heard from a very reliable source that there were some made in New Jersey for the east coast....and the others were made by an outfit in or near Beverly Hills...or somewhere in CA.I always thought that they all came from CA,but this guy who told me knows his stuff. Please let us know any VIN numbers and if there's a special badge on it with production numbers. Thanks and good luck with it.
  18. Thanks for all the kind words.I'll be sure to keep myself in check. I'm Paul, for those of you who didn't know.I'm honored to be a moderator here. Thanks Shawn,Brian, and all involved. Lots to talk about!!! But please guys, understand that right now I'm bouncing off the walls getting my former workshop moved into storage. You won't see much of me this weekend. Enjoy the new forum!! And a special thanks to Todd for updating his website. I'm absolutely going to push a couple of local guys to get on here now. They're extremely knowledgable and will more likely be able to recall some info from the early years as they've been involved since the early 70's with Subarus. As for Europe, yes you folks over there didn't get the early cars, just a shame.I did end up selling my '76(?) DL to a guy who shipped it to his dad's dealership in Sweden!! It sits there in the showroom, restored. It only had 37,000 when it left my hands!!! You can imagine just how nice it looked.I really wish we didn't get rid of it,naturally. Remember, turn your lights off,and the gas door is on the driver's side. It can be less than amusing when you bounce back and forth with the newer and older generation Subarus. But still,I get a satisfaction knowing I'm doing "the long arithmatic as opposed to using a calculator"....It's a bit of a chore sometimes, but when someone says they're glad to see me still running that car,it's all worth the effort. See you all soon, Paul
  19. One 1978 4WD wagon register with "Early American" (gag, choke, cough!!)plates on it. One 1973 GL Coupe, should be road ready by the end of summer.Might be out and about this weekend. Hopefully,I'll be getting my '75 2WD wagon back from WagonsOnly, but not sure yet.
  20. Wow,our own little dinosaur forum....lovin' it!! Skip,I've got you covered on the manual.I just hope you don't want it too soon.If you can somehow stop up this weekend I'll dig it out for you from the new storage unit. Mick is right, and I think I started the rumor.I could swear I remember ssing the third eye on a '78 or '79 Brat.Maybe it was an experimental, maybe it didn't really happen....anyhow.I'm going to work on a flipper for my '78 wagon, but I'm sure our man Skip will have one sometime sooner. Skip, you're welcome to call.Sorry I missed your call last week, but I called back within minutes.Gimme a shout if you have time later tonight,as late as you want,or tomorrow.
  21. I'll be shipping next week,or as best as possible after that. I just got too busy with the move to even inventory, let alone ship, sorry guys.
