Hey guys,I'm hoping that Andrew "WagonsOnly" is going to jump in and try to get that car.If you guys aren't 100% serious, please don't bid. We'd really like to see it up here.....REALLY like to see it. -
'82-'83 GLF convertible ?????'s
moosens replied to MtnIcePrincess's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I heard from a very reliable source that there were some made in New Jersey for the east coast....and the others were made by an outfit in or near Beverly Hills...or somewhere in CA.I always thought that they all came from CA,but this guy who told me knows his stuff. Please let us know any VIN numbers and if there's a special badge on it with production numbers. Thanks and good luck with it. -
Thanks for all the kind words.I'll be sure to keep myself in check. I'm Paul, for those of you who didn't know.I'm honored to be a moderator here. Thanks Shawn,Brian, and all involved. Lots to talk about!!! But please guys, understand that right now I'm bouncing off the walls getting my former workshop moved into storage. You won't see much of me this weekend. Enjoy the new forum!! And a special thanks to Todd for updating his website. I'm absolutely going to push a couple of local guys to get on here now. They're extremely knowledgable and will more likely be able to recall some info from the early years as they've been involved since the early 70's with Subarus. As for Europe, yes you folks over there didn't get the early cars, just a shame.I did end up selling my '76(?) DL to a guy who shipped it to his dad's dealership in Sweden!! It sits there in the showroom, restored. It only had 37,000 when it left my hands!!! You can imagine just how nice it looked.I really wish we didn't get rid of it,naturally. Remember, turn your lights off,and the gas door is on the driver's side. It can be less than amusing when you bounce back and forth with the newer and older generation Subarus. But still,I get a satisfaction knowing I'm doing "the long arithmatic as opposed to using a calculator"....It's a bit of a chore sometimes, but when someone says they're glad to see me still running that car,it's all worth the effort. See you all soon, Paul

One 1978 4WD wagon register with "Early American" (gag, choke, cough!!)plates on it. One 1973 GL Coupe, should be road ready by the end of summer.Might be out and about this weekend. Hopefully,I'll be getting my '75 2WD wagon back from WagonsOnly, but not sure yet.

Wow,our own little dinosaur forum....lovin' it!! Skip,I've got you covered on the manual.I just hope you don't want it too soon.If you can somehow stop up this weekend I'll dig it out for you from the new storage unit. Mick is right, and I think I started the rumor.I could swear I remember ssing the third eye on a '78 or '79 Brat.Maybe it was an experimental, maybe it didn't really happen....anyhow.I'm going to work on a flipper for my '78 wagon, but I'm sure our man Skip will have one sometime sooner. Skip, you're welcome to call.Sorry I missed your call last week, but I called back within minutes.Gimme a shout if you have time later tonight,as late as you want,or tomorrow.

Yes,the g/s next door. The guy was in the papers in a nice little interview about his sushi. He's the real deal, and the stuff isn't bad at all.I tend to stay away from it on Sunday though, assuming he makes them up on Fridays for the weekend. You won't see people lined up for the stuff but it does sell fairly well.He also has dumplings and some other items as well. Man,I really wish a lot of you guys lived closer.I really like me friends I've made through the board that live around here, but the rest of you have known me even longer.Maybe in the next world. Cheers!

Gone stagnant....the last day/last minutes it's going to be fun. Too bad I will be busy when the auction closes. Too bad I just can't swing this thing right now. Anybody wanna buy a wife or kid? -
You can email me about 1400 Subarus.I've owned at least 6 of them in my life and currently have one car with the EA63 and a spare engine.I also have a few friends with knowledge of the early Subarus from '72-76,a.k.a. the 1400 era in the US. I sold my '75 DL wagon w/60k to "WagonsOnly".He may have some info for you as well.

While going through things this weekend I saw one.sorry that I could not find it last year.I'm pretty sure that I have that exact one.It was tucked away up in a loft and I overlooked it previously. Now,the big question is.....which box did it go into??? After I get out of my current place I'll be taking time to actually go through the boxes and do things right.Something I just did not have spare time for these past few months. So,rest a little easier.I'll need time to find it.But this time I'm just about positive I have that emblem.Oh,and it's attatched to a near perfect grill. Talk to you soon

Getting back to the post.......the place is getting nicely emptied. The storage hole is filling in well. I owe a ton of thanks to Connie and her boyfriend Tom,as well as many thanks to Matt and his wife and Dave,Melissa,Scott, and some local friends. It's after 2AM and I'm just getting back. It's going to be a fun week, for sure.Vampires, come join me. Anyone who wants to come up next Saturday,April 30th will be treated to plenty of space.I'm going to try to borrow a gas grill and cook some good eats for the gang.At the least,I'll get some pizzas or sushi or something....
