  1. He might be coming to the First Subaru Church of the Resurection sometime soon for an EA81.Seems like one of us so far.
  2. I'll throw a lobster on the barby!! That's my '78 4WD Coronet,a real horror show!
  3. I'd like to thank the Academy,my agent, and all the people who sign my checks. Hey,seriously, did I ever tell you guys that I was offered a screen test BY a producer with ABC???Wife gets upset when the subject comes up.She says I should have gone.Maybe someday. The guy is local during the summer months and believe it or not I met him because he was trying to dump off his son's Subaru!!I told the wife I'm stopping by his place this summer and see if I can still weasel my way in.For me,being there would be cool enough.I've wanted to make films since I was like 6 years old.Did you really read this far? Thanks Cheers
  4. This feedback stuff is kind of fun.I just hope nobody makes a stink about my not leaving thread links. After over 8000 posts and many years here you'd better believe I know the people I've left feedbacks for are trustworthy!!!!! As for the folks and the feedbacks, etc. This board has been an absolutely great experience over the years.Sure, there's been an idiot or two or three, but in general I've had a lot of good come from this silly little forum, and the rest of the board somewhat as well.As my cars get older up here where folks turn over cars faster than you can say Hummer,it'll be even more effective for me.I'll be looking for all the parts I need for my vintage Subarus exclusively on this board and eBay,of course. Most of the sources here, and those contacts from my local elders, have pretty much exhausted their stock of pre-90's parts, let alone the 70's items I so desire. A thousand thanks to guys like Ed Rach,Qman,Eric Z,Rob(Turbone),Corky,Todd,Mick,Skip,Jesse,WagonsOnly,Wagon78,Brian,Shawn,all the Johns(mudrat, the Ohio guys, jemmy,Flappy's Printshop John, etc.),Jerry!!!,Tim,the list goes on and on..... Also, even though I've not had transactions with some folks I feel they've been good friends and folks who I'd love to hang out with. There's several dozen of those folks at least!!! And of course, those local enough that I've met.I'm very lucky to have guys like Dave, who drives about 3+ hours to come help me,and Melissa who comes along and helps too.Connie,Andrew,Scotty,Jim,Louis,etc......all great folks. So,my message here is to the folks just settling into the USMB.Stick around, even if you don't get the help you need right away. The people here are truely a cut above the folks I see in everyday life. One day you'll help me,and the next you'll probably find me helping you.If I'm not there someone just like me will be there, maybe even someone better, although you might have to dig a little.... A million thanks to Pat-NorthWet-who brought my '73 across the country. If this doesn't give folks an example of the kindness shown here I don't know what does.I was sure to take care of him.He sure took care of me.And the beat goes on. Thanks for reading. Hey,how about my avitar(sp?) ??? Finally!!!!!!
  5. Intake and carbs for parts and experiments..... heads w/bolts 'cause I could use some for a rebuilt I have that arrived w/bent bolts.:-\ Air inj. piping from pre-'79 Only if this stuff is like free or nearly free.I'll hook you up with some dough for the effort. Please let me know if a late production 1400 shows up.It's the two port exhaust.I don't really want a 4 port unless it looks incredibly good.If the late prod. shows up it's plenty light enough to ship,if you're willing.Even if it was broken down.Just remember to turn the bolts in like 1/16th of a turnfirst, follow procedure with untorquing and it'll help a lot.I'll be happy to send you the info on torque patter, etc. if you want it. Thanks
  6. No sweat Pat. Good idea to "flush twice",like Pat said. Not nec. a flush but just empty, fill, drive around a little, empty, fill, like dat.Seems to me that just letting the worm nest empty out helps the vacuum action.
  7. From the north east, take exit 7 off of the NJturnpike, head south on Rt.206. We meet at the diner at the intersections on Rts. 70 and 206 at around 8:30-9 Eat some carbs, yap it up a bit, then head south on 206 just down the road to the ranger station in Atsion.THere's a big grassy area right there at the entrance. You'll see a bunch of knuckleheads with hoods up,etc.....that's us. We then venture into the woods. It's almost all sandy trails, yes SAND.It's a weird area, very special. You won't do any rock crawling and might not have a lot of mud to sling around but it's a good exercise for our cars. There are spots where you can go hog wild,so the challenge is there. You'll be in good company and if anyone gets stuck there's someone to pull you out. Always best that everyone have a tow strap.Better even,to have a cell phone, just incase, but nobody will leave the last guy behind. You're welcome to hook up with me on the ride down.If things go well we should have about 4 or 5 of us leaving CT together.I like to leave Bridgeport around 6-7 AM since the diner is about 2 hours from B'port, gets us there in plenty of time. Typically,by 11 AM we're in the woods and stop for a few breaks.Better to all have lunch with us so we don't have to run out of the woods and we can all stick together. Atco dragstrip is just a few minutes away. There,we can hit the powerlines in back of Atco and it's often more challenging there.More mud, deeper water,a thrill a minute....but it's a smaller parcel of land so after an hour or so it's about enough.REally cool to see those dragsters too.At that point you're a little closer to Philly and it's about 2 1/2 hours back to B'port. Hope you can make it. Cheers
  8. THat's why I keep coming back.....right on my fellow CT man!!
  9. The old ones crack something serious.Looks like heck, and has to be a potential disaster.I haven't had any fronts pop through yet,but looking at them sometimes will scare you,and rightfully so. It's be nice to have some urethane versions available.
  10. Mostly correct there Mr. NorthWet... Indeed, get yourself some new intake manifold gaskets and just lift the intake with all hoses attatched and place it up on the spare tire deck. Remove old EFI engine. Take carb'd engine and block the ports on the *side* of the exhaust ports with any shim stock that won't melt or corrode. Place carb'd engine in minus the intake from it. Replace intake that you put on the deck. Done.
  11. Frank,a couple of things you want to check are the governor, which is accesable from the engine bay and is located on the passenger side.It has three bolts in a triangular pattern just back from the bellhousing a bit.Take that out and check the small cylindrical gear for "apple coring".There is a metalic version available but getting hard to find.A really good counterperson will research and find one for you. I've had them run better just cleaning off the mechanism too. Also, the modulator on the underside of tranny is worth changing out. They're about $25 and will make a difference, especially in a car that has been sitting. When you pull the small rubber hose off of it you might see some oil drip out. That will indicate that you definitely need to swap it out. Feel free to contact me through email or PM Paul
  12. Well,I had a change in heart on this.Although I won't be voting I just won't pass my less than wonderful experience with Ms.Thomas along any further. Jamie, the '73 looks very cool here in CT!!!
  13. ..........yeeehaaaaa!!! Certainly not knocking Todd here, but YES,we vintage Subarus owners do indeed need a better website to visit.Or even more than one as far as personal owner pages goes.Someday I'll get something thrown together for my personal lot. good luck guys!
  14. Latest discussion has us getting together the last weekend in March,if possible. Your input, please. Saturdays are best.
  15. I'll be up there tonight for those willing. No real work outside since it's going to be cold and dark, but inside I'll be attempting to get some folk's items out for shipping. I'm comitted to stay there untill April.April should be our last month there. Cheers
  16. Same here,at least one set, maybe two if they really are that cheap. Rings would help.
  17. 2 things.... You'd better keep the wife and scratch the play date-my opinion. You get to go to lots of cool functions.I don't have to tell you about greasing the wheel..... And,I'll gladly testdrive the Loyale and get right back to you about it.
  18. You DO get around,Jesse.:-p Hey guys, the place looks like hell again!!! Actually not as bad as it looks....the coupe will be rolled out next weekend if it's over 40 degrees outside.
  19. Is you EA71 pre-'79? The fittings on the Air injection is different. Also the starter is top center on the older ones. This one is off to the side like all other EA81 ans EA71 after 1980??Correct me on the year, please if I'm wrong.Brats with EA71 in 1980 and 81 I believe still use the top starter.
  20. We've had a Jeep with us before....thankfully,for one certain situation.(nope, wasn't for my sake) Cool,he's ok with me.Screws wood, strokes the keys....a regular guy. Hey,I forgot to brag!! My son beat me at chess!!!! I do NOT play to let him win.I've beaten him about a dozen times since he started playing seriously and was just hoping he'd stick it out.I kept telling him he's getting better. He kept looking a little more disappointed each time he lost, but he did it.I'm more proud for his tenacity.I knew he'd eventually beat me."That's 7 and a HALF years old, dad.I'm not a little kid anymore"....(read:move over Rover!) Proud Pop Fivespeed
  21. If she's truely in need of parts I'm sure a bunch of us can help her out.Thankfully she's healthy...right?
  22. Plenty of two wheel drive vehicles go through there. It's sandy roads. The driving trails are typically loose sand. Not much actual dirt.We can,and likely will hit water holes and maybe a touch of dirt/mud as we know it.I kind of want to go fairly soon, but not too soon.If the weather stays mild and fairly snowless it'll still be a little loose and greasy but not as crazy as going in with ice and snow or even the few days after it's melting. That kind of would be cool with a lifted vehicle and the right tires but I'm not in that league right now. You can always show up and leave it out on the grass and go with someone else.Folks have shown up in 2WD cars and chickened out,I mean uhh,sat in the kiddie seat...
