  1. Larry, please send me your Paypal address so I can pay you. Thanks! All others,I'm king of sick right now too so I don't know when I'll get back to you all, probably tomorrow.
  2. No place set yet.We were supposed to go out today and look at several houses but my son was sick.....and my daughter has a double ear infection.....ahh,raising children. Let me see what's ahead for us and I'll post back. Thanks again for what you've done already!
  3. The EA71 was available in that Stage I body configuration. You just swap that dash VIN and make it a '76 or '77 stage I.More competitive. The 1400's did have headgasket issues but this version you have is the revised edition without the wet cylinder sleeves.Note the two exhaust ports still used today. Before that it was the quad exhaust that mated with the sloppy sleeved engine. So,you do kind of have a somewhat reliable engine if you want to keep it going. If not,I expect you'll be contacting me to sell it.LOL Too bad you can't find another coupe like the one I just got from Pat in Moxee.Following the '72 rally in Puerto Rico,Subaru really started making the effort here and elsewhere. But,you knew that. If we haven't convinced you to go resto, shove the 1600 in there and have a freakin blast!!Again, you'll still be within rules as long as you call it a '76 or '77. Just be sure to beat Jason.hahaha!!!
  4. Hey,let me know some more about this one, please. I'll PM right now.
  5. Pine Barrens while there's white stuff around??? Or,at least plan a good late March/early April date? There's the Pittsfield(MA) Ice races/Carnival,but my wife is freaked out by it and I won't be going.......waaaaaaagh!!! I really want to hit Jersey sometime in the next month or two to go to Jeff's place and shop his store. It's be a good day made even better if we hit the trails for a couple of hours. Hopefully,I won't make a date that I have to back out on.We're so close to jumping from our place to our next place.....could be a closing date,or two, instore for us very soon.
  6. Let's get some opinions on when we can get a good group together. Dead of winter. This should be a real winner.LOL Just trying to vacate the place in the next month or two so I'm pushing the stuff out the door. Any weekend in February, just chime in with your best date and we'll see what we can put together.
  7. Skip,no danger is he removes all the items with bearings. In my opinion,to make his project a serious one he needs to remove the engine, tranny, suspension and wheel components and start from the unibody alone.Hence,a rotiserie job or as best as he can produce. You have to understand that I live in an area with several top of the line restoration shops and they all blast the cars.My friend has recently oversought the restoration on his brother inlaw's Aston Martin DB5 and an Alfa GTV 6.The cars are in top shape and the DB5 won it's class at the Greenwich Concourse......big money car, beyond our wallets.Yes,it was blasted, albeit ever so gently given the aluminumn body, with engine all bearings removed,of course. The main thing to consider is that the blaster or those thereafter completely wash the car's chassis/body out before setting any bearings back into the car.The GTV6 was done WITH the engine, etc. inplace but it was sealed in plastic and rinsed thoroughly. I'm probably shooting for the stars here.I think your project is neat but I don't see where you're going to dump the proper amount of cash into it and get the results I personally would like to see.....a proper restoration of the unibody. I'm sure you'll do a great job.Don't take my words as a cut on you, your project,or Skip's opinion. There's the backyard way and there's the money way. This is why my cars won't be done for a while.Must save coin.I refuse to spend as much time as needed to do it myself while raising children. You can't fall behind on THAT project. Good luck with it,post pics.
  8. OK,the delivery didn't quite work out the way we had hoped but the main goal was accomplished.IT'S HERE!!!! Been here a couple of weeks now.Meanwhile all my local buds have gone and gotten new boyfriends and whatnot.....time you guys rolled back into town. Tomorrow we go to look at houses,so those of you who know my situation should know that it won't be long untill the big closing of the First Subaru Church of the Resurection.(crying like a baby emoticon here) There's still lots of freebies like the XT hood-Melis has first dibs,Loyale bumpers,headlights,fenders(EA81 and EA82),more more more. Lots of super deals too. EA82MPFI with harness-$150 w/117k on it. All sorts of engines and trannies from 1975-1989 MORE!....lots more.
  9. Other than putting it on a rotiserie I'd say your starting out right.Should be all surface rust for you folks out west.If you find some rot through, then weld in some metal after cutting the rot out to solid metal. These cars are super simple to work on.You can have it all apart in a day or less and it'll be much lighter. You can then work on the engine and suspension/drive train much easier. To do it right you need time and money. To fall short is a real shame so please consider all the costs before going all out.You might want to just have fun and keep the budget low. You'll probably be happier in the long run.You want glory? You have to plunk down the coin. To be serious about running a car this old you MUST consider these: new radiator new tires new suspension new brakes solid exhaust new pumps gasket kit for engine new U-joints To ignore any of these you'd be asking for trouble. And you'd end up on your butt.Spend a few hundred and you'll go a lot further.Treat it like a $50 joke car and it'll probably embarass you soon. my 2 cents good luck
  10. Please let me/us know what's available if you part any of these out.Good luck.Values are sure to go up as long as the economy doesn't turn worse.
  11. Looks like the corrected/improved 1400 there, worth keeping. If you get rid of it let me know. I've got some parts from a '75 4WD wagon still around.
  12. ........hmmmmm,tell me about your childhood.... So,did you ever do the ice carnival thing or what?
  13. I think this time he means the A/C sensor that hangs over the pulley. Felt like springtime today after the last few days.
  14. Brad, are you still out there? Who's up for a small convoy of Subarus?Racing is open to all sorts of tires from stock to studs,to bolts. If someone can do a quick search and post any link that'd be a help.I can't do that right now, sorry.
  15. aaggh,it was just a whopping of powder, kind of like in the mountains.Nothing too scary.I think my city got around 10 inches but some drifts were incredible. There were actual bare spots because the snow was blown so hard and it was so dry and light.I heard it was a 40-1 ratio, whereas normal snow is a 10-1 ratio.i.e.,ten inches melts to one inch of water.Total gnarly fluff dude!Makes me want to take out an insurance policy and go shredding like the hero in my mind. GO PAT!!!!! ...and Go Pat's (NE Patriots!!!)
  16. Paul will have to send you package. The poor guy was so loaded when he left here I'm wondering if there's a trail of XT parts along his route to make room for all the other stuff that got .......stuffed. Sorry guys,I just could not fit any of the delicate items in there like the Brat bed trim,etc...... I donated a heap of XT parts to Pat and sent some 5 lug conv. parts to Witte, who's been waiting for 2 YEARS......but he was always cool with it.(just to clarify).I really really appreciate Pat taking this stuff and Qman handling it on the west coast to get to Witte. Pat,my thoughts are with you.I've tried to call a couple of times but I understand if you leave the phone off.Just PLEASE keep your head up and don't let getting close to home make you relaxed, that's when bad things happen.GET YOUR SLEEP and arrive home as you should, ready for a hug and kiss and that wonderful feeling of just making it home. We're all cheering for you.Keep us posted, please. Take care!!!! Paul
  17. If this is a manual shift put it in 2nd gear and with the clutch out use the starter to make the car move. It's ok,even Subaru says so.From your post it seems that was a priority,to move the car. The fuel filter is located up where you were looking, near the driver's strut. They can be metalic and not plastic, depending on the source of the previous owner. The fuel pump is under the car up front of the rear crossmember, just under the rear passenger's seat.Follow the lines when you get the nerve to lay down on the ground, you'll see it. Where in CT are you?I can reccomend someone or help you out a little.I can not do repairs right now, sorry. Nice little powder snow huh?I haven't gone out yet but I was out last night having some fun before it got too crazy.Very light powder for us down here.
  18. Well that sure looks to be the folks with the load. If you guys bid it'll only keep them from selling the lot cheap. They sure are nice to look at though.
  19. Another board member (Todd) and I are contemplating buying a load of such exhaust parts and entire systems. Price for the rear section would probably be under $80.An entire system, hopefully under $200,all three pieces-Y pipe,mid-can,and the lengthy exhaust/muffler section. There's no promises here, but I'm fairly close in location to the source,so it's extremely tempting to take the lot off his hands. Todd and I are dedicated to the 70's Subarus and really help the others who are into keeping them going. We'll do the best we can on price, within reason.
  20. I happened to be in phone contact with the boys when they were loading Pat's truck up.Word was that it was tight and that the fenders wouldn't be anything I'd miss too much. If you can help me out what I really really really need,as in NEED,are a driver's side yellow fender for a 1984 4WD Wagon, gray fenders for my '78 4WD wagon,a black carpet for the same '78,and a list of things to come for my '73 coupe. Thanks for any help. Sorry to hijack. So,Pat,you doing OK?
  21. Safe trip back,Pat. How's the new member of the family?
  22. I'll always need help. So,you decided to check in....... Talk to you soon.
  23. I posted something in the marketplace thread that 86Subaru has going.....i think.
