Thanks guys....'n gal.THis application would be just for the winter while the plow is on.Slow riding,I might even just take the roads to and from work instead of the highway for a couple of exits. The Brat won't be a keeper for me.At least right now I see it as a one season fun toy/money maker.
-
Looking to see if anyone here has ever used these. They were issued for use with the plows so the blade wouldn't bottom out. I can probably just make some up if needed.Just looking to see who's actually had them and what they look like.I have to imagine that they fit over the round coils inbetween. I can make some calls and find out but I'm hoping someone here can give a reply.

Brat owner again -gen II- The Plowmaster

Thanks Matt, but no idea really needed.I own a plow that fits Subarus. But I do need some time with it to figure the mounting and wiring.Shouldn't be too crazy. Two way plow.I'll just need to use blocks in the front coils and I'm looking for bigger wheels too.Trying to avoid needing a lift kit,but that might happen anyways over the winter.Where I work now it's a real cool shop where I can build or have built just about anything out of wood or metal outside of lathework or milling, which I'm also schooled at,and have access to elsewhere.Time, that's what I need access to. I might just weld up some sheetmetal and stiffen it up real good with a sub-frame too.All depends on how much actual play time I get during the winter slow down.My boss says I'll be working at least 40hrs / week but I can always use the shop in off hours for projects. One of the guys that welds is young, the boss' son,so he'll be recruited for the majority of it. -
Free load of parts to anybody who drives from Alaska to my place. Matt,I've definitely got the large ones.Do you mean the small one near the driver's window?Or do you mean the longer ones that blow out toward the passenger seat?Or do you mean the little ones kind of on top of the dash for the defrosting?(those are same color as the dash) Either way I should have you covered.Keep on me.I'm making a list and going to make an attempt to get a few people's items out this weekend and the coming week. Send me your address again and I'll just send it out.

Mary's Brat MUST Survive!!!!!Let's all talk soon guys.I'm hitting the shower in a few then going out after the kids go down for the night.Call me tonight if you want to after 9PM and up to about 11:30-midnight,or tomorrow anytime but best around 9AM and after 4PM....whoever is calling right now,I can't get to the phone....I'm on the computer. -
Northeast people, you get a second chance to get free or dawg gaone cheap parts from the 70's through the Loyale. If you're the least bit interested please reply here and post a date and time that's best for you.Locals are absolutely welcome to arrange weeknight rendezvous. Consider this the Ultimate Subaru Thrift Shop.I really don't want to sift through for order picking these next few weeks. So please don't ask about individual items for shipping.I will let you know if I have an item, should you inquire, but like I said, please consider coming down and browsing around. It's got to be worth the trip if you're driving any older Subaru-pre Impreza/Legacy. There's glass, fenders, hoods, rear differentials, transmissions, engines, axles, trim pieces, dashboards, wheels, driveshafts, exhaust pieces, interior trim,lights,coils,A/C compressors,Alternators,starters.......probably some other items too. Location: 230 Woodmont Rd. Milford,CT 06460 Unit 41-C Easy to reach. You'll need to be shot if you mess up getting here.30-45 seconds from the highway exit (I-95 exit 40 ) in either direction. Don't forget gang, just like a tag sale/yard sale, when it gets near the end, stuff will be tossed out so the freebie factor comes into play bigtime.

Wow,I just saw this post for the first time thanks to your email Mary. What a mess.Call me soon.Yes,I'm busy but I'm usually available later at night. This weekend is work, work, work. But just call and I'll call you back if I don't answer.I'll be in transit from one job to another in the mid morning, that's a good time to talk.Or I'll be on my way back from work#2 around 4-5PM. Sunday is no good untill after 2PM.Then I should be home.....working. -
The top pic is a hatch, then the next one down, that's the one i see as a coupe. It's grill was never on a Brat. That grill looks very much like a pre-75 to me.
-
Good luck.Let me know if I can help in any way.I have almost every removeable piece from a '76 GF coupe, same color as yours, light brown/saddle color interior.
-
Has a bar in front, the short boxy type like you see on old Nissan/Toyota type small pickups.I'll probably have to remove that for the plow. Also has a homemade roll bar with 4 big lights on top.But here in CT having more than 4 bright lights facing forward is ilegal so a couple of lights are disconnected.Bar looks bitchin though. Charchol grey with grey interior.Has some rot-OK it's looking mighty bad in some sections-but from the outside looks plenty good enough. The guy tossed in almost a whole Brat in parts.See my post in the marketplace for the spillovers-mighty cheap. Drove it home last night and it ran great;allbeit a little loud, but hey,it's a Subaru of mature age.No third gear synchro problem at all.Nearly new radiator, ran cool. All lights work, but the horn wasn't.Maybe it needs a compressor and air horn.LOL See you in the snow!!!!!
-
Mr.Roadtrip, that's me.Start with the hundred bucks and see if you get outbid. At least you'll have tried and for 100$$$,,,not that hard to cover, even for poor folks like us.Maybe we can scratch up a Connie-fund.
-
WOW!!!!!! That grill on the 2door looks like a '72-73 or so......keep me in the loop on this stash please.Yes,I will be getting your A-bar out soon,I swear.Talk to you soon.

Go for it Connie!!!It'd give me another excuse to go to SVXperts place again.

Cool rooftop cafe in Cocoa Beach that looks out at Cape Kennedy.Have some fun too while you're there!!LOL....Skip RonJon's---just an overpriced tourist magnet and no more Orange juice machine!! -
Wagonsolny and I toured south Jersey today. We wound our way down to SVXpert's place so Andrew could pick up his latest driving toy.....an MPFI RX couple. And,also to pick up my NEW EA71 shortblock.Man I love getting pieces like this.I'd like to worship it in my living room for a while but I don't think that'll happen.Regardless,it'll be cherished when it's all slapped together with some rebuilt (for an airplane guy)heads that I have.Once together it'll be ready for my '78 4WD Wagon restoration project. A dual carb set up will sit atop of it all, thanks to Qman!!! Stand back kids, this old doggy is going to GROWL!!!!Don't need no stinkin' exhaust restrictions up here since it's tagged with "Antique/Classic" plates.Move over Rover!!!
-
Wagonsonly and I are heading to see SVXpert.Anyone who wants to hook up in south Jersey contact me before 6AM...short notice,I know, sorry. For those of you with my cell.phone number you're welcome to call anytime, just don't expect me to answer from midnight tonight 'till the morning. But,leave a message and a number and we'll try to get together. Boz,and Jeff, you guys come to mind first. You're both on the way.If not,I'll probably head down one more time before the winter for some Pine Barrens action with my son.

There's nothing wrong with a Honda.Never mind the blah blah blah you'll hear from people, they're great cars. It's the annoying little dweebs that drive them that suck nuts. But,I hope you find a Subaru.Good luck.

Should I part it out or spend some $ ?
moosens replied to Chongo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Charlie,If you can make it up here I'll hook you up with a ton of stuff for super cheap or even free. There's a good chance you might even be able to get some welding done here at the neighbor's place. As for the engine re-seal,no sweat.Lots of us have done all out own re-seals and R&R pumps,belts,etc.....If you stop up during the week before 5PM I can get you dealer parts at my discount. No way do you need to spend a grand to keep you car going for a couple more years, trust me,it's my way of life.I know you could do that real easy, but between what I have and my discount you'll be tight and dry,er uhh, your engine will be anyways. -
A professor I know claims to have over 1,500,000 miles on one of his Subarus,an '83 4WD wagon. His wife came out and backed him up.Apparently he'd commute home on the weekends from places like Univeristy of Florida, and Michigan State, and other universities he's worked at. I haven't spoken to him in about 2 years, since the summer after 9/11/01 when he was greatly concerned for his wellbeing while working in Paris. He purposely took all my info incase something happened to him.Well,I guess he's ok. I told him to write Subaru of America but I don't think he was into the fanfare. He has a hatch also with over 450,000mi. and claimed to still have all original components in it. The 1.5 mil car was only on it's second engine,so he claims. He's in North Salem NY just incase his story ever gets into Subaru's Drive magazine or some other news. His brother inlaw owns a shop in Canada that has a rotiserie....for cars. His body on the wagon looked absolutley incredible,in very solid shape. Sitting next to the hatch and wagon are a Gen II BRAT and another hatch for parts. One cool old professor!...and in the garage a couple or micro cars.Very cool guy indeed.

This is likely to get some mixed responses

Romeo, not romao.....but what I want to know is are you talking about a dual Weber set up from a euro-Alfa?There were several kits around here for them.I know of one artist up in the hills who has the set up NEW still in the box.He wasted his Spider and it probably still sits banged and beaten next to his barn. Much more throatier sound using the Webers over the FI that came on the Alfas. -
It took the dealer 3 weeks to get it here from Japan
